So i just paid for 1 months subscription, logged into my character after enjoying being a starter player for 2 weeks, and find this error message “starter edition accounts cannot perform that action” all over my account, from the acution house to mail box. I was really disappointed after getting excited about getting back into wow after not playing for many years. After a little research i find its because of a pending payment which i cannot understand why since i can see the money taken from my bank account (I really should have paid with paypal…) anyway i contact my bank and they said its because the merchant has not taken the payment and only blizzard can explain why, and due to covid i can only submit a ticket that can take 2 days to respond, and whether I lose 2 days game time or not this is a real downer, and a massive anti-climax. Thanks… but I think i’ll take a refund!
The account can take some time to update if I’m not mistaken. If you want a refund that’s cool , but I think you should just wait a few hours.

I just can’t understand why i have to wait, its been about 2 hours now and honestly i can’t sell all my rings i made in my bags from jc lol. im really itching to do something! I think whats more annoying is the price of subcription since i last played, and the time im going to loose :’(
I’m afraid I can’t say any more. Perhaps if you do open a ticket, see if you can persuade the GM to give you back some game time.
I highly doubt this will happen but you never know. A little politeness can go a long way.

It can take up to 24 hours for the payment to be recognised and your account to be unlocked.
You leveled to 25 so I guess that the account isn’t “starter” anymore, but it can take several hours (up until a day if I remember correctly) to lift all the starter restrictions. It’s always been like this.
Thats not fair! i cannot do anything for 24 hours? blizzard should owe me .30p for my missing day
try reloging in and out of your battlenet(browser+windows app)
Thats a good idea, ill try this now. however i can still see on my battlenet account that the payment is pending, even though the money has been taken

Ah this sounds like a failed payment - it will return to your bank within 7-10 working days.
You can quest. This is the nature of upgrading.
Also it’s up to 24 hours.
It can take up to 72 hours for payments to properly process, this isn’t just blizzard but all merchants who take payments from debit and credit cards.
If you pay for something in a shop you can see the money leave your account then sometimes see the transaction disappear for couple of days before finally appearing again. When it is first taken it is a “pending transaction” and that is what is happening here, it is the banks and financial transfers not blizzard who cause these issues.
Dont see how it can be failed, i got plently of money… there isnt even an option to add another subscription and ur a differnt method of payment, maybe if i used paypal there would be less trouble and i wouldnt be unhappy

Have you tried logging back on to your char now? Because it seems like from your OP you went straight back on expecting it to be instant, which is unfortunately not how the world works.
Always used to be instant… besides i been checking it on and off for last 3+ hours, logging off and back on. i just want a refund tbh, this has kinda killed my night
Well at least you have been able to level up. In the nicest way do that and just kill time until the starter account restrictions are removed. It seems like a bit of a “mountain out of a molehill” situation now, but if you really want a refund it’s your account and your money.
That as may be but I’ve seen plenty of people with the same issue over the past couple of years.
Im guessing the card you are using is a new one for blizzard stuff?
Its a pending payment because it takes the banks 72 hours to process the payments. The wait for added game time when a new card is used is also due to them making sure they will actually get the funds at that 72 hour point (thats a fraud thing i believe)
Its the same when you purchase from anywhere using a card, its a pending payment for 72 hours.
It isn’t blizzards fault, its the way the banks work.
