Tbh Sylvanas has literally done the stereotype of evil mustache twirling evil all expantion no matter what way you look at it.
Doesn’t change that fact she -along with jaina- is a mary sue, is written as such.
Its very clear they had no idea what to do with her character after WotLK as her sole motivation up until then was revenge on Arthas. It just shows more and more with every awfully written patch we get.
I’m not saying you should dislike the writing, just giving you a view on why people consider the writing god awful bad fanfic tier levels of writing to which I’d even say My Immortal is better written than BFA.

People tend to have different views. Just check the “Rate 8.3” thread, there are votes ranging 0 from 10… it’s impossible to satisfy a diverse playerbase.

I absolutely agree it’ll never be possible to satisfy a playerbase, much less one the size of WoW’s.

Let’s analyse how many times she appeared between Legion till now shall we:
Legion HD cinematic.
Leaders at this time:
High King Varian from the Alliance.
Warchief Vol’Jin of the Horde.
Who appears beside Varian in this cinematic ?
Sylvanas.
Broken Shore cinematic:
Varian appears leading the Alliance.
Who is leading the Horde meanwhile ?
Sylvanas.
Apparently Vol’Jin wasn’t competent enough to lead, he only appears to:
- Be stabbed in the stomach by a Demon.
- Say a few last words before collapsing.
Cinematic after Broken Shore disaster.
Vol’Jin passing the Warchief mantle to Sylvanas.
Not to:
- Lor’themar, who probably was more suited, since he already dealt with the Alliance in the past.
- Baine, who apparently Thrall cared enough to come back and rescue.
He passed on to the person he least trusted and she proved why he shouldn’t had done it.
But hey some voices whispered him while he was dying.
BFA opening HD cinematic:
Second time Sylvanas appears.
Varian is now dead he gets replaced by Anduin.
Also the cinematic makes you think the Alliance started the conflict
That proved to be false later on.
Warbringers Sylvanas, cinematic.
Silvanas, Nathanos, Saurfang and Captain Delaryn Summermoon appear.
But the main protagonists is Sylvanas and her story.
Also she decides to order Teldrassil to be burned after getting told by a dying Summermoon.
Old Soldier HD cinematic:
Saurfang is the protagonist here but Sylvanas appears in his memories, looking with a smirk while people scream while being burned alive.
Lordaeron throne room confrontation, cinematic.
Nathanos, Baine and Sylvanas are present.
But they left.
Sylvanas stays and receives: Anduin, Genn, Aleria and Jaine.
Four powerful Alliance characters, incapable of arresting Sylvanas.
She basically escapes and detonates the entire room on them.
Sylvanas arrests Baine cinematic:
There are several characters here but the main protagonists are Baine that is being trialed for treason and Sylvanas who is passing her judgement.
Reckoning HD cinematic:
Characters present: Saurfang, Thrall, Anduin, Zekhan and Sylvanas.
Most imbalanced Mak’Gora ever.
Sylvanas basically stops Saurfang titan grip with one hand. Impressive, since she never shown to be a strong melee character, but a archer one.
Than she finishes Saurfang with a dark ray that would make any Shadow Priest jealous. Why does she need a bow, when she can cast ?
Also, she simply vanishes.
Too bad Garrosh didn’t had that trick, as well, it would had saved him from a trial.
Shadowlands HD cinematic.
Third time Sylvanas appears.
Anduin is not present in this cinematic, he was replaced by Bolvar.
Basically he gets crushed.
He took longer than Saurfang, but in the end another character bites the dust.
Can anyone be powerful enough to stop Sylvanas by this point ?
Garrosh speach to Sylvanas being corrected, after 9 years.
Is it a coincidence that it happened now ?
I don’t think so.
At this point I am starting to think someone just don’t want people to stop talking about her. 
How many times will people talk about her in SL ?
I’m going to guess: a lot.

The only characters names I can remember are Narthanos (voice is all wrong, they killed him wth) Anduin (child baby voice-get rid) Jaina (who?) Arthus (dead) VARIAN (dead) & SYLVANAS (dead but alive) - thats after years of playing, they need more interesting story characters & only Sylvanas, Narthanos, Arthus, & DH man forgot his name already were interesting 
No that’s right she didn’t escape yet again, she was a few inch away of losing her empty head out of a shot, that smile of Overlord saurfang:(you gonna get reckt smirk) before mastering Shalamayne after a few swings in a fight to the death.
Brain trick activated: you just keep failing /mentalise Overlord Saurfang, can you see him yet ? Can you hear his voice?
First, you pretend to be someone who doesn’t know who he is and then you are aware of things which aren’t common knowledge.
What exactly is your purpose here? To defend him? If yes, then spit it out from the beginning.

It has gotten really bad. He ruins the story for everyone to keep his self insert and queen alive and ignores every other important plot thread such as the Night Elves after they have been nearly wiped out in a pre patch.
He needs to go.

It’s not fair to say that Danuser ruins the story for everyone. By saying that you’re speaking on my behalf without having consulted me for my opinion. That’s disrespectful.
And for the record, then I don’t think the story is being ruined. I rather enjoy it.
So speak for yourself.
Secondly, WoW has a narrative and Sylvannas is the character that the narrative is driven by, as she sets events into motion. That’s not unlike Garrosh or Gul’dan in the past.
That doesn’t mean other plot threads are being ignored. It just means that the narrative has a focus on different plots at different moments in time.
It’s only a good thing if WoW has more stories that needs to be told and continued. Blizzard are probably mostly restricted as far as time goes, so all storylines may not always progress at the fastest speed. But the intent to progress the Night Elf plot is obviously still there, it may just not be the oppertune moment to have things happen on Azeroth if we’re all meant to play around in the Shadowlands.
What expansion/story is then?
When did I pretend I didn’t heard or him?

Part of me actually wants to see this happen now. 
In all seriousness though, Sylvanas was my favourite character for years because she was sarcastic and added an interesting dynamic to things on the few occasions she was involved in things. Sadly, she is becoming too overbearing (I even went against her as part of the player choice element in BFA) and the writing team really should remember that other characters exist other than Sylvanas and Jaina.
