I think it’s a wonderful layer of depth to say that lore is story from perspectives, and some lore represents the perspective of some whereas other lore represents the perspective of others.
That’s next level of storytelling and like I said before, I find this to be fuel for the speculations and theories that makes the story more rich and interesting.
you mean their back paddling multi reality excuse they introduced multi reality then back paddled on it when it became inconvenient the bronze dragon searched many worlds for the optimal setup but now apparently this multiverse only exist if we interact with them that’s not how multi verse theory works
and don’t get me started on wrathion and the soul of amun’thul (did i spell that right) it was completely ignored and now all the souls are located on argus consistency is something blizzard severely lacks in their new lore it’s all about the rule of the cool
Agree.

“My team believes that continuity exists to enhance a story, not to tie the hands of creators” - Sean Copeland, Historian Supervisor
Cheers.
thats still the dumbest quote in the history of gaming … oh my whole job is to keep track of the lore … but eh sod it … whats the point in having a lore dept just fire those useless sods they are clearly not there to do the job of keeping the lore consistent
What’s the point of his position then ? And sure his quote would make sense if the new changes would ‘enhance’ the story not make it feel like a plots from twilight and other mediocre stories.
I, working on creative field myself, understand the need for creative freedom, but also we here have a universe that has fans from very various likes and dislikes - a good writer and team would make all sides feel attention every now and then, but sorry to say for me lately it feels very bland and one sided… “Lately”- make that everything that came since Cataclysm.
Cataclysm as last expansion with unique and refreshing story telling. While same old fantasy tropes and arcs, but still refreshing for a gamer. So they said after cataclysm they want to go back to Alliance vs. Horde - great, but god how much yap-yap you can tell between 2 faction, where you cannot declare clear winner within game play ?
Warcraft lore currently is written in way that - if you die-hard fan and read tweets, books and all that is NOT GAME you might understand, but if you only play game you are like, “what?” - its not even ‘rule of cool’ I feel. More like rule of writers acting according of '“Ok, got my payment, so I don’t even try to appeal to players feels and emotions”. BfA story was, for example, just boring. BfA would have been great if the story would have been around Azshara and her deals and pacts as she is charismatic character with arrogance and yet this arrogance is her weakness. Ad what she got ? A cinematic and a raid. She should have got whole expansion.
I do not know what the problem lately is - the suits, or lack of creative innovation. That last can be fixed by getting some fresh blood. I see Blizzard occasionally tries. They need to do a full turn and try something and get writers form outside the “same old pool of 5 names” they have used past 15 years for their books.
Usually, those “lore-nerds” are trying to understand the lore as best as they can, using many different sources to try and tie the different storylines together. But retcons certainly don’t help with that if you’re trying to bring cohesion to the Warcraft universe.
