Everybody seems to complain about GS but nobody ever tries something to change this messy system.
Why stupid? I ll speak with an example, I swapped my mirror of truth recently with a darkmoon card greatness as UH dk. According to GS these two trinket have the same value, in reality Greatness is 350-400 dps higher.
In addition to that GS doesnt care about proper itemization.
Just INSPECT the player, check if he is gemmed and enchanted correctly. Who cares about GS when a player is not enchanted, cheaply gemmed etc. If the player can not be bothered to prepare for a raid does not belong in a raid. Start valuying players based on their achiements ( REAL ones that show personal skill no just 1 kill boosted achiements), and even better just look a characters logs. It literally will save you time cause you are gonna make a proper grp.
Today I was asked for GS for a group that I waaayyy overgear/outskill yet I respectfully said to the raid leader, I do not support this system and I d rather stay out. If many people start doing this it will end this stupid system and help improve the game.
I like gear score.
For me its just a tool too see on which gear level the person is, nothing more.
If i need really good geared people then i will inspect them aswell.
With a fresh geared pre raid bis UH dk I could do 6k on a not so fast 25 man naxx boss kill. According to your theory I should be filtered out for being trash, yet 90% of the raid would be below me.
GS translates the ilvl that Blizzard themselves show on gear. Nothing wrong with that. And except for a few items (like Greatness), more ilvl is better item. This is not vanilla anymore, where you wear Hand of Justice at 53 and never take it off again.
This is how Blizzard made wotlk, blame them.
You could be filtered out, that’s true. But not because you are trash, but because they could take a more geared DK in your spot doing even more DPS. And you need all those 90% below you for even loot distribution, or they would all be DKs as well. You don’t want that.
As the above people answered and I also see anyone ansking GS as losy players and unsure of themself i will also go to greater extend like ignoring them now you see I am also filtering trash.

yawn, another anti-gearscore thread. it’s literally just an indicator for whether or not a person is in preraid bis+ or in questing gear. almost all groups that ask for gearscore do a gear inspect anyways. you clowns are just crying for no reason
I don’t care much for GS, it’s just an easy way for me to say “look, I’m almost full BiS”. I pug once a fortnight, it’s easier for me to join a pug simply by stating my GS than going over my logs and experience with the raid leader.
I can certainly see it being frustrating for alts though.

Yes, because Classic WoW is super hard and needs logs checked. Come on this is not FFXIV, where you’re fighting harder enrage timers by milliseconds. You probably also think that Diablo 2 is hard.
People asking for GS are the same bunch that do GDKPs. They think they are cool and exclude „noobs“ while it’s mostly pathetic.
I never invite people that post their GS in LFG tool…
I can get my GS to 4100 with items that actually suck and the gear set i do most dps with is at 3900… it’s such a stupid gatekeeping system.
I’d rather play with a freshly dinged lvl 80 dadgamer than 4200GS sweaty any time any day!
