pvp gear is not pre bis or even bis for raids yet people use it to up gs

My screenshots from 2009 show, in some fights I had 7000 dps in Naxx10, others 3.5-4k.
I was actually top damage on KT with 3256.4 (17,100,140), with the top dps (4293.6) shaman only having 16,040,577 damage done.
Depends a lot on buffs, presence of adds, stuff to dodge…
Of course that was 3.0 and 3.1 while we are 3.3.5 or so, possibly some balancing power creep included.
Yes. I’m level 72 (multiple). And I have a life. And these threads just motivate me to stay away from endgame community. I’m satisfied with “oh, such a nice, smooth run” after every single dungeon.
A guy that flamed my alt for having 3.5k died to shadow fissure and died agian to same shadow fissure when he got cr.
Exactly this, instead of rating gear only with a point based system on item level, they should’ve made it like this.
The addon should rate / anounce to other users what the user is wearing.
Rating should be based on item setup rather than on item level alone.
The addon should refer to four items per equipment slot from best item to lesser alternatives and adjust the score accordingly.
In this way it should be easier to judge whether someone is wearing their best available gear or not and could reasonably expect a certain performance from that player.
The thing is that it would require compiled lists of gear sets for classes that people should agree on for performance, and then these lists should be distributed so that the addon could use it for reference.
The point of participating is to obtain the best gear.
I get that pugs are hostile environment where you need a CV with a proven track record, just like in the job market.
But, if I’m BiS or so, I don’t care about Naxx10, or anything, because I have won the video game already.
I may play a bit for fun afterwards.
Stomping the content isn’t fun, by the way.

People find ways to make fun things so unfun.
I agree for the most part, and some people take it too far.
But if i would’ve been making a group for something like naxx10 or 25 i’d at least want to make sure they’re wearing the proper gear set for maximizing damage or healing to a certain extent.
There’s nothing worse than players wearing the worst possible combination of gear which can lead to constant wiping or such bad performance you just can’t tackle certain bosses.

Good on ya, I’ve done Naxx 3 times in a row where only 1 item dropped I have any interest in and it was a guaranteed drop.
