Stop asking for/stop replying with your GS when asked

Wrong about what?

I couldn’t care less about logs, or parses, or the idea that players think they’re accurate, or accurate enough to use as some digital CV. I’m playing a game…a game.

I assumed with your reply to me you meant I was trash because I’d ask for GS and check logs.
Ofcourse you don’t care about logs, which is why you’re posting on an alt.
I’m also playing a game, and I love competing with other pumpers.

You sounded like that sort of person, not just because of the GS stuff, just how you worded your post.

So you think me not posting on my main character means I do actually care about logs? I genuinely couldn’t care any less, nor what anyone else’s logs are.

Games are for fun though, not mindless competition. I do realise that is not most of the community now, competition over enjoying the game. Think “pumpers” is in there along with other cringe words.

Have you ever thought that maybe competition is FUN for some people, like me? I’ve already cleared and done everything wotlk had to offer 14 years ago. What I find most fun of all is PUMPING and parsing.
I never understood why ppl can have issues with this… Guess I’m toxic trash and cringe for enjoying what I do, and being good at it.
I’ll never struggle finding a group tho… I pass all GS checks and all logs checks, which is very easy btw.

I have considered that, and there’s a place for it, competitive competitions or games specifically designed for it e.g. overwatch and the like. Not falling over one another to attack the boss first since if you’re two seconds late compared to others then what’s the point? Not checking the damage meters every ten seconds to make sure. News alert, the majority of all Classic players likely cleared everything back then also, I did.

You’ll find most people doing things that are frowned upon say that. I don’t think you’re toxic - actual toxicity, not the modern idea that anything not positive is toxic.

No one said it wasn’t easy, but that’s not the point, which I already guessed you had missed.

What? Performing at your best in a raid is frowned upon now? I’d always imagined it was the opposite.

Yeah I haven’t a clue what your point is man. But mine is very simple:

Checking GS and logs will leave you with better players on average than if you just invited anybody.

And I’d like to take the better player over the worse one. Nothing cringe or toxic about this.

No no, I’m referring to “…for enjoying what I do, and being good at it” and “that maybe competition is FUN for some people, like me”.

Of course it would, assuming they have the addon, which many don’t/don’t want to install. But that bit isn’t the point, it’s a “Why not” instead of a “Why do” scenario.

I never said there was anything toxic about it, no idea why you keep saying it. It is a bit cringe though imo.

Not you in particular but many people like to think parsing is toxic. I’d say slowing down your raid because some rando found 1 page of text too long to read or a 5 min video too long to watch and has no idea what his rotation is, ending up with a grey parse or whatever.

And I don’t even have the GS addon, I’d get it but tacotip does more than just GS and I don’t want my tooltips to be messy.
If ppl ask I tell them ‘high enough’ followed by my wcl link followed by me getting invited.

My biggest problem with GS is that it doesn’t account for having gems and enchants.

Like the other day I joined a OS pug and the raid leader had it set to 3900; fine whatever.
Some mage joins yeah he’s 3900 but he had 0 gems and 0 enchants, The raid leader didn’t inspect him so the mage got to stay. Ended up doing as much damage as the tanks.
Some caster leather item drops and the mage with google translator english starts sperging that he won the roll for it lol.

Got booted out of the raid on inspect because I had “crappy blue weapon” … librarians dagger BiS assa weapon until WD from 25 naxx …

GS could be good tool to skip/help with inspects, but people are dummies so its useless and creates more issues than help …

If first message that I get from someone is “GS?” I dont even bother replying …

bro if they ask for 4k+ and youre 3900 its usually fine with a short message like ‘just my rings suck’ or something

But if youre 3600 thats a different story thats not having some items being weirdly bis cause of blizzard. thats just a 2day lvl 80 char

From what I’ve seen over the past say five years, 99% of people don’t know what toxic actually is.

I’m not going to slap a number on it but yeah I agree that many people have no idea what toxic is and nowadays people are quick to call anything they disagree with toxic.

You know there’s still people who arent even 80? Everyone has different pace. Some have busy life and some haven’t had the chance to play at the start etc. Some level many characters at once

And that is their choice to make.

But the consequence of such choices is that you will not be invited to a lot of groups.

Keep up or get left behind.

Seemed to be 99% as I couldn’t think of any time in the past x years that I thought something was actually toxic when someone claimed it. Similar to what you said, it seems like is it’s something someone doesn’t agree with, or something that isn’t positive reinforcement is toxic.

Current tendency of the mentally deranged is quite simple.

If you say something i don’t like or have an opinion that deviated from mine, i experience that as toxic and i will do the utmost best to try and paint you as a fascist and all kinds of things to make you feel uncomfortable.
All this just to please my own fragile ego and ride the current “what’s hot trend” wave to signal i’m as woke as i can be!

So progressive!

Bro youre level 13 and asking for GS to RFC?

If they’re wearing best available gear then they’re either paid to boost you or not doing it. There already is “bis-tooltip”, which already tells you the bisness of any given item, in theory. The problem is that beyond vague idea of decent for parsing items it can’t tell you hit caps, spell hit caps, expertise caps, whether the person can get a good snapshot on their aotd/gargoyle, etc.

I can respect wanting to play with people who sink in a roughly equiivalent or greater time and effort into doing well, but there is that sort of toxic cesspool between the active casuals, who just do enough to do well and players who genuinely are very good, which addons like RaiderIO, Gearscore, etc. promote.

Yes that is self-evident when large part of playerbase are minmaxers that ask GS for Hogger difficulty tasks. I’d understand this attitude if the content actually was challenging and you couldnt complete it without good gear. Now it’s basically minmaxing to squeeze - 1 minute from the kill time. It’s an ancient game that’s been cleared a million times and documented thoroughly, relax
