Stop defending the Transmog set from the shop

With the recent deal on a 6 month subscription I already see people defending Blizzard on their behavior with how they handle items and content that they add to the ingame store.

First of all, let’s take a history at the mounts that Blizzard released in the last expansion.

  • Steamscale incirator
  • Squeakers, the Trickster
  • WoW Alabaster mounts for the 15 year anniversary
  • The Dreadwake
  • Hogrus, Swine of Good Fortune
  • Sylverian Dreamer
  • Vulpine Familiar

Those are 7 store mounts released within an expansion for 25 euro/dollar. 1 of them is reappearing as a mob within Shadowlands.

3 of these mounts came with a 6 month deal
Just as the recently added transmog set.

It doesn’t look good at all that Blizzard has to give out deals with their subscription to make people resubscribe to WoW, or stay subscribed. Usually people did that because they enjoyed the game they played.

Now within Battle for Azeroth released on the 14th of august, and we’re somewhat of 2 years later. These promotions/deals were all given during the Beta for Azeroth. These deals add up onto 2 years exactly.

EIther someone is desperate to please the suits high ontop or Blizzard realised what trash of an expansion they released so their only hope was to “entrap” players and trying to bribe them into resubscribing.

Let’s take a look at previous expansions:

  • WotLK had one store mount
  • Cataclysm had 3 store mounts
  • MoP 2 store mounts
  • WoD had 2 store mounts
  • Legion had 2 store mounts
  • BfA had 7 store mounts

What does the sudden increase mean exactly? That is your own process to take. We went from around 2 store mounts released through an expansion to seven

And let’s not forget the disgusting practises behind some of these store mounts.

The Celestial Steed

This mount got released through Wrath and was the first storemount available.
Take a look at this boss:

https:// www.wowhead. com/npc=32871/algalon-the-observer#screenshots:id=130916

Sounds like they decided to make this mount available as a drop, but changed it last second to start off their little scheme of store mounts introducing within the game.

Next up we got the Heart of the Aspects

Now look at the beam Thrall uses when fighting Deathwing.

What’s that? You see some resemblence of the beam Thrall used with the mount? You think there is something behind the 3 reskinned Alexstrasza mounts we got from Deathwing on Heroic/normal and from the achievement meta?

Enchanted Fey Dragon

Released in MoP when WoD was confirmed to be in the works.
It’s actually used by a faction and NPC’s in WoD.

Same practise with the Grinning Reaver

Who was used by the Laughing Skull Orcs.

I really hope you guys enjoyed all your reskins of the Wolves and Talbuks that we got in WoD though!

Iron Skyreaver

During a dungeon boss battle, a Dungeon Boss actually uses the store mount ingame.

Sorry guys no ingame boss drop for you, just buy it on the damn store already.

Seen enough? Oh wait, they’re repeating it with Shadowlands aswell.

Sylverian dreamer

https:// www.wowhead. com/item=166776/sylverian-dreamer#screenshots:id=852861

it’s actually a model from a mob that appears in Shadowlands.

And now with the latest deal of 6 month subscription, Blizzard adds a transmog set. People are still defending Blizzard on these disgusting practises that “nah bro Blizzard will not cut content from the game and add it to the ingame shop instead”, because they have not done this once, not twice, not three, not four, not five but SIX damn times already with the store mounts.

Stop defending this practise.

Thats not solving the problem dude xD

My only problem with it is that you already pay AAA box cost for the game as well as sub fee that’s usually higher than most other games. With the current transmog tab it just adds MTX and I personally don’t believe it belongs in this game for those reasons.

What problem? You aren’t forced to use it you have the choice to ignore it!

There should NOT be a store ! Thats the problem here

It would be fun to know how many people are baited by mounts etc, and how many would have bought it anyway. :grinning:

Stop pretending these are cutting content from the game. Anything on the store has been designed by the art team during their downtime between working on new expansions/patches.
If they didn’t make things like them, Blizzard would have to lay off art team employees because otherwise they wouldn’t be doing anything and wouldn’t be worth paying.
I’ll gladly support the store as long as it helps preserve the integrity of WoW’s art team because they carry every other aspect of this game. They hardly ever disappoint.

That would give me depression…

The problem are both Blizzard and dense people who don’t understand marketing. To those people poop in shiny paper would be an amazing deal.

Oh god… not another thread about this…

Ah well, on the bright side you’re all making good advertising for the store

U sir are lame

Why? What does it do to you that affects you in game, nothing whatsoever! All cosmetic and optional, it is upto each person to decide if they want to use it or not, not you or anyone else.

Actually, everything in CS was designed by people who were already paid for from our subs/expansion money.

It’s like paying carpenter to make a chair for you but then hes trying to sell this chair to you XD

Dont u get that this store is efing up the whole game… omg just think about it

Ye, such a “disgusting practice” to give people with a 6 month sub something extra. Something you can also earn ingame by farming gold. Or you can just ignore it completely.

It’s always amusing the hear the rants of clueless people on the internet how others should run a business. Usually just entitled and envious people who think they are owed everything.

How is it effing up the whole game? The store has been around for 7 years!

Lmao, what. Explain how.

I quite like that some games provide the option to purchase more.

That doesn’t mean there’s an unlimited amount of money I’m willing to spend on a game. But for games that I really enjoy, the amount of money I’m willing to spend usually does exceed the purchase of the game itself.

Whether the more comes in the form of DLCs or expansions or microtransactions is a bit besides the point. If it has personal value to me and I’m interested in it and am able to afford it, I’ll probably treat myself to it. Gaming is my hobby, I don’t feel ashamed for spending an excess of money on it. I work to earn that money, I do with it as I damn well please.

As far as WoW goes, I don’t think the problem lies with the Online Store or anything on it. As others tend to point out, then it’s entirely optional whether you spend money on anything or not. And it’s all cosmetic stuff, so you’re not losing out by choosing not to.

It’s probably more the subscription cost that’s the issue. At least it’s my issue with Blizzard’s business model for WoW. Because the subscription is mandatory.

I pay for the expansion. Why isn’t it covered through the subscription?
I pay for character services like server migration and name change. Why isn’t it covered through the subscription?
I pay for items on the Online Store. Why aren’t they covered through the subscription?

I don’t mind paying for any of the above. But when I’m paying a subscription as well, I do wonder what exactly that subscription covers. Legally I know it covers access to the servers, but then again, all of Blizzard’s other games provide access to their servers without requiring any subscription cost. So why is WoW different?

I think the community is choosing the wrong battle on all of this.

The Online Store is fine.
It’s the Subscription that’s the issue.
That’s where we’re getting royally screwed every month like suckers, because we’re paying money for nothing.
At least with the Online Store you pay money for something.
