It has always been DPS where I’ve been playing, but DD is factually the right one to use. I’m good with either one as I can understand what both of them means :joy:

I type DD or DPS and it depends how big lazy i am in this moment. Both means same thing.

I quite like DDs, oh wait, that’s not damage dealers I’m thinking about.

16 years ago I was angry on all those bras calling it dps. I called them dd back than. My time has come … finally !

Played wow since 2005. First time I read the term DD, was in classic vanilla beta when looking for ppl for a wailing caverns run. The guy was German.

ms is main spec.

Doesn’t matter how many people prefer or agree with something with regards to making it correct or not.
If the majority preferred to call hamburger “hamberder”, that would not make it correct.
Damn, the OCD must be to extreme in kids these days.

Its the younger saying DD, btw.

What do you think is the foundation for a hamburger being called a hamburger? The foundation is people originally having decided to call it that. There is no objective law in the universe that dictates a hamburger must be called such. It’s all fundamentally arbitrary. It could be just as well called something else tomorrow if enough people decided so.

Same goes for DPS, DD, and whatever else. These are just labels we agree upon with a perfect of less than perfect consensus.

And the people who decided when they created the languages simply tell you that you’re wrong. DPS describes a number, unlike DD which describes the actual role in the group.

LOL, the people who “created the languages?” You think languages are created by some council gathering in a meeting and deciding upon words and grammar? Languages evolve organically over millenia. There’s no group of guys around a table going, “okay, this is called a table!”

I already said that DPS construed verbatim as “damage per second” is awkward to insert into a sentence when referring to a person, i.e “I am a damage per second.” But it makes perfect sense when you construe it as a shorthand for “someone who deals damage per second.” There’s nothing inherently incorrect about it, and like I said, language is ultimately nothing but arbitrary labels.

You should drop tiktok for a while and go to school. Also aren’t forums a little outdated for diaper wearers?
