Stop saying DD its DPS

That’s pretty ironic, considering you have a preschool level understanding of language and probably the world in general.

Main spec? thats already an abbrev. And how can you have a second specialisation? That doesnt even make sense

True! DD = Dunka Dungeons

Are we going to call tanks DT then? Damage takers.

This applies pretty darn close to exactly on me as well, only I started early 2007.
Not ever seen DD being used. Not that it matters very much.

DD = large breasts

Disc priests are playing the role of DN Damage Negator. Druids are playing as DROT, damage repair over time. Yes DPS is wrong factually. But as many wrote before it has evolved to mean “person that has adhd and a small pp, so they need to parse to make up for it” and DD, damage dealer is the actual role you play as.
TLDR; both are correct.

Well, you wouldn’t think of MS as main spec in this sentence, would you? “Someone come to MS for click. I am already there”

The guys insisted on meeting stone being a summoning stone (like wtf? When I hover with my mouse over the stone it’s called Meeting Stone) and I should call it SS. Even explaining that the abreviaton SS is used to beg Warlocks for death-prevention didn’t help.

DD is Dungeons & Dragons.

I’ve only seen “DD” maybe a dozen times since Vanilla Retail beta. And it’s always in some would-be quirky ad like “Looking for brave adventurers to venture into the Depths of Blackrock…” instead of factual "LF2M Tank+DPS to BRD quest run.
I have been partial to the word “Pumper” recently, as it filters out all the pearl-clutching dad gamers.

More important debate is of course whether it’s DM or VC. (It’s DM)
Oh, also OHF vs Durn vs DHK and if you put CoT before it.

I’m going to start calling classes jobs now.

should start calling “tanks” “aggression management specialists” :stuck_out_tongue:

Language is arbitrary and ever envolving. Not by a council, but by its users. Grammar becomes more of a current guideline than a predetermined ruleset.

Viewport is 100% correct, sorry if your insight in lingvistics arent on point like his.

I started playing during Beta 2004, and the term “DD” was back then a rare sight (I cant acually remember seeing it once).

People used to write “Damage”, later “DPS”, but I cant say DD was a common thing in the chat.
Have seen it a few times lately, so people must have picked it up from somewhere.

As I said, part of the reason might be a lot of Germans playing on international servers. DD has been used on German servers forever, private servers as well. Now Germans might be bringing it with them, because they just assume it is a common term to use, as “damage dealer” is obviously English and not German.

Off spec = Dps?
What’s not hard to understand?
MS = OS.
You never seen these ? lol.

I mean, I’d be more curious on what MS meaning lol.
I’ve never seen anybody use “MS” for a summoning stone.

as far as i can remember they have been called Meeting Stones, so the abreviation does make sense, but i think in general they are revered to as just stone, like: i am OMW to the stone.
