So today I attempted to clear Stormwall Blockade on normal for like 10-15 tries. Even though we had a flawless P1 and really good coordination in P2 with very very few mistakes that aren’t punishing, when we got the boss to around 45% hp, the adds were already starting to be up 3 at a time, which is impossible to deal with it.
At some point I assume even more are going to spawn, but there’s no way to keep up with it, no matter what DPS you have. I had only geared people in the raid that knew how to play decently. Keep in mind that this is only normal mode, yet it’s ridiculously overtuned.
Is there some strategy I don’t know about for clearing this encounter ? Nothing was a problem except the increasing number of adds. Also, the more adds that keep spawning, the less time you have to DPS the boss, so at some point you’re stuck perma clearing adds with no way to bring boss down, and this happens around 40% hp, not 5% so you could say that you can squeeze that extra 5% somehow.
Edit : Also there’s a bug I noticed, that no matter where you place Storm’s Wail, the add will spawn ~at the center of the fight area (even if you drop the debuff close or far away).

we are progressing right now - even when people go at the very end - the add wil 90% chance port to middle

We wiped like ten times on this with an overgeared raid before just barely killing it (died during the wipe spell cast). Certainly we could have made improvements but we downed all the other bosses without playing very well, or we demolished them on the few occasions that we did play well.
Notably, a lot of people had to go after that kill and overall it looked like a disbanding raid but I managed to ninja start the Jaina encounter for the luls and we oneshot her just winging it.

Nope. Just killed it with guild after 5/6 wipes. Communication is the key here.
Managed to do it with pugs.
What we did was marking spots for melee and ranged to stack and after every swirl to move a little to the side. Ranged cleared their part of the room and only when melee had no space left we sent 1 shaman/druid/lock (someone who can move away fast) to clear melee, then drop debuff at the back.
RDPS would always fight adds, only when they got in melee range melee join. At the last 10% we ignored adds and killed boss while he was casting.
The really needs a little nerf on adds hp, at the end of the fight it can really be overwhelming.
the nerf applied on PTR did not make it to live LOL.
im serious.
as someone who just pugs every now and then, i can already tell i will mostly be skipping this raid. way to much crap to deal with on most bosses.

The tanks need to get 5 stacks of Kelp and drop them on the big adds as early as possible. We used 2 x prot pala with Consecrated Ground talent to help slow them. We kept melee on boss unless the adds got too close to boss (not many melee anyway).
Then we killed the last 3 big adds and all just nuked boss at around 15% ignoring the coming adds and killed it before the boss got full energy.
The key is to kill the adds as priority to slow down the energy gain until you get to the point for full nuke on boss. Keep clearing the floor helps. We also popped heroism on landing in p2 WITHOUT interrupting him.
Jaina is a lot easier than Stormwall Blockade.
They stated a hotfix was coming on twitter yesterday.
We killed it with an overgeared raid after some tries, applying the debuffs on the adds is key.
Still it’s quite overtuned, and the adds teleporting does not make it more fun either.
We were trying to get it down yesterday as a guild and we really struggled. The adds kept teleporting all the way to the middle of the platform as soon as the spawned, which obviously made the fight unmanageable when we started getting 2/3 adds at once as DPS had no time to hit the boss.
Fun fight otherwise, I hope they fix up the adds soon 
Lol we had pretty much identical scenario. Did 7/9 on Wednesday. Then yesterday we wiped almost full evening on Blockade until we finally killed it.
Then went for 1 pull for fun on Jaina, killing it on this pull 
I agree that communication is key but also the fact that you get 3 adds on the platform, even by dropping the debuff on the adds, how are you even supposed to deal with that?
“Slow” them down with frost mages, hunter’s tar traps/concussion shots, DK chains, Pala’s Consecrated Ground talent and the 5 stacks of Kelp on them. Ranged standing on one edge focusing on adds, melee on boss and help if needed.
There is not much to heal here so you may consider taking extra dps to help.
You can slow them and make them get the tank debuff all you want but you get to a point where those adds become two, and they just keep coming and coming, and the boss hp goes down very slowly. Anyway they announced they are going to nerf this encounter so.
Im pretty sure that right now the only people able to do this encounter are the ones who are overgeared for the raid anyway.
Add teleportation is annoying and hopefully will be fixed shortly. But the boss hp is also more than healthy for normal mode. The second wail debuff comes at approx. 2:20 in that phase. Now consider a 25 man raid with 18 dps, and ~55M hp on Laminaria. Ideally the boss should be low enough (10-15% perhaps?) at that point to start a quick “ignore the double adds channeling, finish the boss quickly” burn. This dps requirement is roughly a Fetid mythic level.
I killed this boss 2/2/8 and it is really demanding for a nomal boss
. The healers were outdoing themselfs and it was so on edge that we killed the boss when he almost finished the casting of the wipe spell. I dont remember exactly our ilvls but they werent low more like some people around 390. First time the add spawned it spawned as far as we carried it but then again in the half of the whole distance of the fight mesh. Bring rangeds with slows.
Not at all mate , i hope more bosses would be like this. The loot is 385 so being 380 or something should not allow you to faceroll it, the scale is exactly what it needs to be, took us the longest of any fight in normal there , jaina only took 2 pulls without even going through every tactic while this took much longer. Its like trying to do mythrax HC with 365, doable maybe even easy but not faceroll.
As you have experienced, Jaina is a hell lot easier than Stormwall Blockade. Either Stormwall is too hard on normal mode or Jaina is too easy. I think the difficulty should be on Jaina as the end boss rather than Stormwall.

We spent the bulk of our time wiping this boss because the adds kept spawning in the same spot, right where the dock gets thinner, or teleporting to that spot after they spawned. We had little time to kill them, so Laminaria’s energy just went up up up. I don’t think we managed to get past 50% on the boss. Hopefully the adds get fixed before next week’s reset.
Killed this boss today after spending countless wipes to this. Almost 1 shot everything until Blockade. Fun boss, i like it. This boss will become easier over time when people are gonna hit 395 or 400 item level. Killed this with a pug fyi with everyone above 387+ ilevel. All about the adds. Kill them as soon as they spawn. We even used flexible melee like DH and rogue shadowstep for the add.
