Guess we have to create new accounts and play lvl 20 twink for the time being 
You can play on PTR, there’s no need to create new accounts… PTR works… just not the chars boosted
The same issue here and i tried everthing aswell but nothing solved the problem. Still waiting on a reply for my ticket. Hope they fix the bug from character boost for coming back players. Quite anoying if u want to get back to WoW and this happens.

Same issue here. Used the Gear Update and now I’m unable to log in. Character creation loop.
Pressing Escape does show the character list, but it goes straight back into character creation.

Seems not a bug for coming back players but for all. But I cannot create Bug Issue because I’m from Germany and Bug Reporting doesn’t work for us… so I’m not sure if Blizzard knows about this problem… the German forums are also full with this issue… and I cannot play since 6 hours. Tickets are open but no reaction.

You can try to issue a bug report, which I cannot do, so we can be sure the devs knows about the problem. I haven’t seen any blue post to this issue.

This no longer works. If I try to copy a boosted char, it says “Copy failed”. For all other characters, the copy works fine.
Same just happen to me. Lua error i get.

I Have the same issue, I got stuck into creating character and can’t actually log in into any other characters or change Realm
In there to… omg! at first i thought i was being hacked… and now, im just pissed… and it happend after i tryed this gearupdate on some of my older chars.
yeah… same happen to me… we are doomed… i guess Blizzard is out for trouble

Hi, im having issues with my game.
Issue: Today i was playing normaly but when i tried to change character, im automaticaly forwarded to character creation menu. After pressing “Back” or pressing ESC i get to main menu, but intantly forwarded back to character creation menu.
Things i tried:
- Resseting game
- Disabling addons and relaunching games
- Checking integrity of game files trough Scan and Repair
- Reinstaling and launching game
- Antivirus scan
- Checking for stuck keyboard buttons
None of items listed fixed the issue. Game is currently unplayable for me as i cannot select any of my characters and i would like to ask you for your support fixing this issue. Thank you and have a nice day.
Did you use the gear update thing by any chance? because i did that on one of my alts and now i’m also locked in a contant loop going into character creation menu and getting this lua error.

Yes, exactly. This erorr showed up after i tried run the game from another computer.
Hello. Had the same happen to me yesterday and since then it still does not let me log in.
Blizzard knows about this as far as i could find (https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/cannot-log-in-until-character-boost-gear-update-complete/1632417/35)
Also it appears that all characters that are “updating” are unavailable to view through wow companion app (android version doesn’t load the character and leaves an error saying “check if you have the latest version of wow companion”)
Guess we just wait it out?
My problems have been solved and I can now once again log in. I have not done anything other then wait 3 to 4 hours.
