Suggestion: Allow Arabic & Persian alphabets in names

Good point! Allow those too. The more, the merrier. Just needed something catchy to get started.

How about no.

And why not? I’d love to know why you think it’s not appropriate, then apply those same answers to how we’re stuck playing with/against Russian realms and cyrillic letters used in names all over WoW.

Because if it’s ok for one group of realms which we’re forcibly matched up with/against, then why is it not ok for other kinds of alphabet groups to be used in character names?

If you would have read some of my post history like a snoop, you would have known that I do not want to see russian letters and names in WoW, or rather on EU server, I do not care for what they do on their own server if they are isolated etc, much like china and the like.

The answer to a problem is not to increase the problem, can’t pronounce the names of people in a bg because of unpronounceable letters? Just make everyone unspeakable, that way no one can make any calls ever.

Not the solution.

It would help increase the outrage to finally get the problem taken care of once and for all though.
Too many people are oblivious to it right now.

And it is a simple observation that there’s a huge hypocrisy going on right now by Blizzard, they should just allow all since they already allow one that can’t be read by most, to be part of the gameplay for EU servers.

Basically since they already allow it for one other alphabet group, they should just allow it for all of the alphabet groups.

When was the last time this ever worked. Blizz don’t care anymore they don’t change anything for the better.

they only time they change is under threat of losing chinese audience, being sued or when the shareholders complain or see loss of profit / decline instead of increase.

What the players want does not matter unless it’s a matter than would unironically make 50% of the playerbase quit instantly etc which isnt happening

That’s where you’re wrong though, they did attempt to slide in the Russian realms into the BG teams to have no limitations whatsoever in the matchmaking at the first few days of Classic BGs. But because of the instant outrage by so many, it was quickly overturned to become like retail more than it already was, so now Russian realms can only be grouped up with other Russian realms.

But that’s just a haphazard way of dealing with it, only meant to placate the masses.

Time to shine a spotlight at the true hipocrisy of this, and the flaws in allowing different alphabet groups to be exposed to each other. There’s a reason they don’t mix the Chinese players with the Korean players for example.

We need more outrage, and that’s easily accomplished by simply showing the discrimination against other alphabet groups going on right now. There’s NO REASON to not allow other alphabet groups and symbols in player names with the way things are, since they already mix the Russian realms with the EU realms.

And once people feel the true problems these things create, instead of limiting the problems to only “occasionally” happen, it would show the stupidity of it all. Because right now, it’s the PvPers who suffers the most from this.
People will really suffer from it in AB premades, for target calling and swapping purposes, due to the examples depicted in this thread already.

There’s a reason people had to make an addon to give pokemon names to players in retail, for RBGs. But anonymity is bad for the immersion, so that is not a solution, it’s more like a compromise.

PS:
I still want Kanji symbols and Katakana letters in my characters’ names.

What you’re suggesting is acceleration-ism.

The idea that something cannot be fixed in increments and must be accelerated in order to bring about a collapse in which the new can be reforged from the ashes of the old, because there is only 2 outcomes, death and withdraw or recreation and rebirth.

Much like the current festering and collapsing society we inhabit, there are too many things to fix without some EXTREME measures.

One of the others solutions would be a mass exodus of the subscriptions e.g. mass voting via wallet.

But none of this will happen because people do not address problems with foresight but rather allow the problem to reach critical mass before looking into solutions but by then it is far too late.

What will happen regardless of what you would like or the warnings you speak out for. Is the collapse that will happen in due time.

You have the creation and growth period, the golden age peak period, the decline and slow death period, and the death, collapse and abandonment period before the cycle renews.

This is true for all things, be it people, creatures, civilization, games, companies, fads, fashions and so on. etc

Exactly the purpose of this thread.

Not really. Majority outrage has a powerful effect on Blizzard, as already shown. And there’s a simple way back to disable such things, so it’s not like it’s “too late” once they see the folly in that crap.

You have far too much hope and trust in blizzard. The current blizzard is not the blizzard we used to have.
