Suggestion: Secondary Professions

In Midnight we are gaining what is ostensibly a warbound profession - lumber woodcutting. That made me think about the current secondary professions. I also wish this were true for the gathering professions but I recognise that’s not going to be an argument I will win, so just focusing on the secondary professions.

Cooking, Fishing and Archaeology can be learned on every single character. There is no need to choose who is the cook, who catches the fish etc. as all characters can do all of them. Given the move towards more warband quality of life, I feel like it’s time for all the secondary professions to also become warbound.

Why does it matter? If you cook food, just stick it in the warband bank, I hear you say. Well!

  • There are some recipes like Beledar’s Bounty which was soulbound. I did the quest on my new main, realised and then had to redo that quest chain on my old main who had remained the chef.
  • For fishing skill level matters in terms of what you can catch. There are some really rare fish/mounts out there which take sometimes thousands of casts (ask me how long I spent fishing, no actually please don’t). It would be such a huge quality of life difference to get a few casts in, while say waiting in a dungeon queue, without feeling like it’s a waste of time as I’m not the right level.
  • Similarly for archaeology. I spent more time than I care to admit trying to get fossil digsites to spawn. This is again something that can be done while also technically doing something else (like waiting), and just like fishing skill level plays a part. Also not to mention all the bag clutter it’s hard to keep track of with the bonus tokens, and the crates etc. if it winds up split across many characters. Could make those sort of things a currency type thing instead, like we got fragments and stuff from Korthia research and the Azerothian Archives.

I don’t see how making these secondary professions warbound wide hurts anyone, but it would be a huge quality of life benefit for altoholics and collectors.

Thank you
