Whilst waiting in a hospital car park for my mum to come out of the fracture clinic, I have been sat thinking. As a full-time working mum to a toddler, I do not get to just sit and think quietly very often. For some reason, a load of ideas came into my head on what I would like implemented in WoW. Thought I would put them on the forums to “get them out there” and see what other ideas everyone else has.
I have played other MMOs, mainly ESO and FF, to make points and compare. Each game has their pros and cons but this is not a “XYZ is so much better” thread.

More Solo Content – I personally think Torghast was a great idea! I did not like being forced to do it to get my legendaries, but it is a great thing to do if you have a spare 30-45mins. Solo Island Expeditions are also great fun that burn 30-45mins. Each of these has collectables locked behind them which can be farmed during downtime. The problem was how WoW “forced” you to do them for Soul Ash or Azerite Power. Worried that no one will do the activity if there is no reason? Make it a viable levelling route as well (like Torghast now), or highlight the unique rewards via social media and the website every so often to keep the hype, and add a few more rewards each expac - even if it is just recolours.
-
Solo Mode Dungeons/Raids – I have lost count of how many times I have run ICC for Invincible, or want a certain item that drops off the last boss but cannot even get to the end due to an earlier boss being unsoloable. I would love a solo mode for older content, that is designed to be farmed. Before anyone complains that older content is soloable already – yes most of it is. A solo mode that disables certain aspects, such as the ball game on G’huun, to make them soloable. As a result of this “easy mode”, limit the loot dropped by each boss to class specific but to only 1 item from any of the previous difficulties (LFR – Mythic). Make it so that players can still see older content and give them a chance to farm items easily, but not literally throwing loot at them. Leave the other versions in place still so that if people still want to farm the original versions by themselves or with mates they can.
-
Mini-Games - WoW needs something else! ESO has “archaeology” in their antiquities mini-game/skill line, and has just announced an in-game card game. FF has so many mini-games and side activities – chocobo racing, the golden saucer, card game, explorer’s log, treasure maps. WoW seems to have dropped archaeology and does have a brilliant pet collecting and battling system, but there needs to be more! More of the Darkmoon Faire is close to what I am asking for, but that is a timed event and doesn’t have quite the same effect. Activities such as archaeology, or the explorer’s log get players out in the world! Why can’t WoW have a dumbed-down version of their own TCG or Hearthstone implemented? Go back to old content and challenge all the NPCs in Inns. Have tournaments similar to the PvP Pet Battle weekly

Guild Halls/Housing – Touchy subject, I know
In ESO and FF, houses and furniture collecting is a big thing in both of these alternative MMOs, and I know that not everyone wants it. I feel that housing could not only provide another gold and time sink to keep the economy and player base stable, but could give use back to older materials and zones, while keeping it not mandatory. Personally, I would prefer a guild-hall, which would also make guilds a bit more useful again. It could also gives guilds a place to socialise in the main hall if they want their own transmog competition or duelling tournament by giving them their own space.
Quickly outlining what I personally would like from housing:
- Guild hall that expands/unlocks certain features by completing guild achieves or by hitting guild achievement points. Examples – defeating Gul’dan on normal as a guild unlocks a green fire torch, but on mythic it unlocks a green fire chandelier. Having a level 30 human of every class unlocks a wall banner, but having a level 60 human of every class unlocks a suit of armor to display.
- Give guild members their own rooms within the guild hall. Players that are part of the guild with those achievements get access to those items to decorate their room with. If they leave the guild, and move to one who does not yet have a mythic Gul’dan kill, they lose access to the green fire chandelier in their catalogue as an example.
- Let the players expand the size their own rooms as a gold sink and allow these upgrades to follow them between guilds.
- Possibly attached to profession-related guild achievements, unlock a guild hall cauldron or cookpot that stays in the guild hall that players can contribute materials to, that when it hits a certain amount of points/materials, gives all members a small boost to exp or rep gain, or gold drop (sort of based on the buffs you can get from Free Companies in FF)
- Furniture crafting as a secondary profession with recipes dropping from BGs, Raids, Herbs, Ores, Rep – anywhere! For example, Blood-Elf themed furniture recipes drop from farming nodes in Eversong Woods, Sunwell Plateau etc. They can then use old-world materials – make Peacebloom cool again!
Anyway, these are just a few ideas that I have had to make my personal game experience better as a casual player.

games houses would be nice idea if there’s not any. Chess, checker, perhaps poker.

Oooo! Had not thought of Games Houses - that would fill up some of the empty houses in capital cities! Connect 4, Battleships and Uno would also be cool I think

Can’t involve anything that could be construed as gambling, ie poker.

Ah too bad. Poker would be nice. Is it still considered gambling when there are rewards one cannot buy or sell? Soulbond bracelets, mounts, clothes?
PS: Well, i am not lawyer, obviously. Doubt Blizzard would ever take an risk anyway.
Yes as you are paying to play WoW with a sub, so at tge very least it would be classified as a lottery, therefore with a 12+ game it’s illegal.
It’s why competitions often come with a 'No purchase necessary ’ proviso, as well as TV competitions having a freepost mail in option.

Well then, chess, checkers and battleships with WoW themed ships would be nice.

As long as they don’t reward anything, but purely for enjoyment

Well, i guess, at least i hope, that chess and checkers can be rewarded with some fancy “show off” stuff. Doubt chess or checkers can be considered as gambling.
PS: Battleships is a bit more about luck but i doubt even this is considered as gambling. But yes, poker can be played without rewards.
I really like the Guild House Idea. As i was reading this it came to my mind an older video i have seen from a WoW content creator about stuff for people to just hang out. So with that in mind i thought about through guild achievements like the ones you mentioned and with every member’s contibution each guild can craft an ''arena" to challenge other guilds in all forms of activities like:
- PvP matches between Guilds. I believe this would be an amazing experience for guilds. 2v2s, 3v3s, BGs, Wod colleseum and every form of PvP mode we have.
- M+ matches, MDI, Great Push style. Speedruns etc
- Raiding. Again similar to RWF but unofficially
- Something like Torghast speedruns?? That would be cool too.
In order not everyone to take the meta class it would be nice to unlock useful things about your guild through achievements that require specific combinations or X wins with this spec etc.
That would be a blast if was implemented and can give ideas for future PvP modes as well as better M+ and raiding.
Now on the other hand an amazing piece of content are the class order halls in Legion, which are now abandoned for some reason. Imagine in 10.0 one of the things we have to do is to go back to the order halls as a place of meditation after what happened in the Shadowlands and it is where we get the our order’s help. you know seeing what has changed how can we get bond again after all these events. This can unlock a ton of content. Daily tasks for the order hall, troops, training, learning new things and spells useful for open world.
Lore can be expalined through campaigns and have interesting stories as well as side quests with us helping other members and simultaneously discovering mysteries of our places. One great example of interesting stories could be in the paladin hall where after the Jailer Anduin goes back and he is rejected beacause he is half apaldin half dk. Scarlet crusade rises and The Order of the Silver Hand must take care of this danger. Learning more about the hall through side quests as i mentioned. Priests learn more about the Naaru and help the paladins. DKs are watching over for effects of death magic and scourge. Hunters master more unique pets and keep balance near their base. Druids fighting any nightmare effects and preserving the forests while helping night elves rebuild Teldrassil. Oh depending on your faction you can actually assist through your order hall the rebuilding of Undercity and Teldrassil as it is rumored it will.
This content and lore can be expanded and explained through the course of the patches while we give supplies for expeditions and we have our raids M+ PvP, TIMEWALING SHOULD BE PERMANENT AND AS GOOD AS 10.0 CONTENT. Legion, BFA, WoD M+ more raids outworld content etc. You will have the guild runs if you want making gold collecting cosmetics through a system like Jailer’s Gauntlet, Timewalking Mage Tower, or Horrific Visions perhaps. Anyway you get my point here and what i want to say about guild house and order halls. I believe that would be more than a blast.

Can you imagine getting BiS gear from playing chess?
Though, shouldnt joke about it too much. Flappy Bird is a world quest that rewards loot…
Hehehe OP, that would be interesting as i am very good at chess

They actually sometimes do change the old raids to make them soloable. They just made Aggramar no longer knock you off the platform and the Coven of Shivarra not have the 99% damage reduction if they are close to each other.
Everything up to Mythic Antorus is soloable right now. Maybe not the final boss in Temple of Sethraliss if you are not a healer… I’m not sure.
To be fair, it’s not uncommon in RPG’s
Final Fantasy X for example is notorious for having multiple BiS weapons that are rewarded for obnoxious mini games.
Ahh Blitzball… forgot all about the weapon behind that. Wonder why? Lol
Yes they change them eventually and usually concentrate on the bosses that have the most complaints. Have they made Spine less annoying yet? Genuinely interested as I need things from Madness lol!
I was thinking more of a solo-friendly version with limits on loot as I said originally. Like if BfA raids had it in patch 9.2.5. Would keep me busy till 10!
We need something till 10.0 for sure!!!
Unfortunately no. They only change the things that are impossible or nearly impossible for some classes. This also included the first boss of Hellfire Citadel which was really challenging for non-mobile classes, and maybe even completely impossible on Mythic.
Spine of Deathwing is not one of these bosses, which is… well, when I first cleared it, it was interesting and tense, sure, but it’s extremely annoying when you want to farm the raid. I also wish you could skip all the damn talking in Dragon Soul. You can skip most of the cinamatic cutscenes, so why not these?
Your solo version idea does have some merit though, they could actually tune more of the fights to not just be doable, but challenging in a fun way. Right now very few fights are like that, most are just dps checks or you have to cheese / outgear the mechanics.
Getting the rogue legendary daggers traumatized so much I have blacked out all memories of Dragon Soul. Wish they would give it some tweaks - it isnt that bad really
how would those guild houses with separate rooms for each member work? what if a guild has 20-40 active members? even 10 would be a lot, i mean the guild house must be flippin huge then to house everyone.
