Suggestions: Weapon Skill

Hi!

As per the title, I would like to know ideas/suggestions of how where and what people do to level up their weapon skills.

Cheers

I’m doing gray quests with some new weapon to keep its skill more or less up to date. Probably will farm some easy mobs for a few days at L 60 to make everything capped. Tricky for ranged weapons. Best thing I’ve found is to follow someone and shot his mobs.

Servants of razelikh in blasted lands are undying, you can almost max your ws not getting away from the spot

You can do it while killing elementals (earth ones in badlands for your lvl i think) or any other mob that is immune to bleed. Just spam rend of them, it cost 2 rage (if i remeber correctly, maybe less) because they are immune and still count as using your weapon.

For lower levels: I usually go find an area with green mobs, charge in, go def-stance and autoattack until I am on 20-30% HP, then switch to the weapon I do have max skills in.

I don’t usually care about ranged, as I am only using those for pulling and it doesn’t really matter if the attack is resisted - I still get the attention.

As Thea said the Servants mob are the best source and i can see why( i am currently doing the Quest regarding them,“The stones that Bind us”) it is thoe best as lvl 60 to go and do them and around the portal since those around the crater dont require for you to clear the mobs up to them.

But if you are not 60,and want to level it,i would say just go find a 12+ grey mob and have at it.

Besides the comments above, if you dual wield (which is far more common for rogues but anyway…) I use the off-hand weapon to train, as it has a relatively small impact in my damage and doesn’t affect my special attacks at all. So if I get an upgrade for my main hand and I don’t have it at max level I place it temporarily in the other slot or if it’s main hand only I use some other weapon until it’s close enough.

My solution? I’m playing a druid.

Tanaris, hyenas in front of gadzetan because if you are close to dying, you can just pull the mob to the guard and they will finish it for you.

For new skills I just wander around low-level zones helping people. It doesn’t generally take long to get “close enough” that you can keep doing whatever you were doing. At that point I don’t think about it any more.

I just go into a dungeon that is just under my level. I stay near the entrance, pull an Elite mob, attack it until I’m low health, then walk back to leave the dungeon, once outside just eat to get my health back up and then repeat.

I level as I go. As soon as possible I learn the weapon skills I want. I have my best wepon equipped always and one of each in my bag (gets vendored whenever I get an upgrade). Then upon levelling I bash a few mobs during questing or walking from here to there with each weapon - leveling achieved. If I should get a new weapon skill it’s normally because I got some real OP weapon, and then I just go back and do some grey-green Quests with new weapon equipped.

I always level my melee skills in RFC, 1 full run can raise your skill to 250+ points

I let my pet tank it while I spam Wimg Clip Rank 1

Spam hamstring.

afk-auto-attack on mobs 10 lvl below your lvl.

  1. Weapon Skill Gain Rate has been NERFED TO THE GROUND BABY compared to Nostalrius and clones. It is now extremely easy to max out weapon skill and it can be done in just a single play-session (a day) contrary to what happened in Retail Vanilla where maxing out a weapon skill to 300 (or 305/310 for Human Rogues) took weeks.

  2. Before working on Weapon Skill be sure to get potions of intellect or scolls of intellect or a buff from a 60 mage/druid as intellect increases weapon skill rate gain.

  3. Servs of Razelikh was a tactic used in Nostalrius and Original Vanilla that is no longer necessary bc the skill gain rate has been nurfed TO THE GROUND as said.
