Sunken Temple: Are you enjoying it?

So, Sunken Temple.
We’ve had 2 lockouts by now, both quite different in difficulty and chances are we’ll see further changes going forward.
However I remember a dev saying something along the lines of “taking the least favorite dungeons and reimagining them as raids”. However, there is probably a reason for why they were the least favorite to begin with.

So now that we’ve had it out for 2 lockouts, how do you feel about it?
No, not the difficulty.
We have plenty of threads for that.

How do you feel about the location?
The segments.
The layout.
The loot aesthetics and stats.
The bosses looks and designs and dialogue.
The boss mechanics.
The trash mobs before the bosses.
The amount of bosses.
The green tint to everything.
The architecture.
The fact that it is now 20 man instead of 10 man.

Did Sunken Temple being changed into a raid make it more appealing to you? Was it always appealing to you?

Are you enjoying it?

Other than too much trash before 1st boss I would say it’s quite an improvement over the dungeon

We finished it up tonight, I enjoyed it, Mechanics were fun enough that every level of player can do, but still add some responsibility on the individual, Its nothing against the raid itself, i Just personally hope this is another Quick phase.

I just dont think the Content is going to be there for P3, and if they flesh out some real sets from the next dungeons, that keep us farming the dungeons, P4 is going to be wildly more fun than the previous phases.

As a whole, i am kind of over the phase bit now, and just wana blast onto max level. Especially when a lot of items you get from previous phase carries over as Pre-bis in P3, you just dont need to do much except farm Rep/gold

It’s a good enjoyable raid. Too much trash at the beginning, but enjoyable after that. Imuch prefer it to BFD and Gnomer, which just felt like 10 man dungeons.

Done it two times as a pug. Each time we got 3/8. Wasted a lot of time on slime Boss (meeles got eaten) and council fight (melees hit into thorns).
All in all these 3 bosses (and some try on 4th boss) took us roughly 3 hours.

So I think…
…the raid takes too much time (for pugs).
…has too much trash.
…has no really great item upgrades (which is okay since our gear is already too good).
…has annoying boss mechanics for me as a mage (too much running around is simply not a fun experience).
…is visually not really an upgrade.
…has enough space for 20 man so thats a good thing.
…still has a setting I really dislike.
…will be skipped as a “level up” raid after p3

Get your warlocks to cast underwater breathing on the melee, then they dont die to the drown damage from the slime boss.

Can’t do anything about your melee being dumb and dying to thorns, but at least the water breathing should help you.

If you have no warlocks get your melee to use waterbreathing potions. And if they don’t want to do that then they’re just going to have to learn the mechanics of the fight instead.

Ty for the advice  but thats Pug-Life.

just too many trash, and the fact that hunter and mages can solo farm seeds there and making 1k gold per hour is beyond crazy…

Cant complain about anything other than ammount of trash. I rly like the raid overall.

I like it. Encounters are fun and intresting.

Avatar of Hakkar was only big letdown. I wish it was more event-like boss fight instead of just long tank and spank.

  1. I wish we had less trash, they can cut like 30% of the trash and up the drop rate of the profsion items.
No one realy enjoying killing so many mobs.

  2. Shade of arakus fight, more clear representation of the atacks, many on ground effects are problematic to see when shadow priest use ground aoe and hunters frost traps.

  3. A bit more loot drops from boss, maybe one more token from at least the last boss.
A lot of items that drop from boss just go to DE or OS.

Overall its a fun raid

I spammed BFD and Gnomer but haven’t done ST once and have unsubbed.
Don’t like 20 man, don’t like the mechanics, don’t like the amount of trash.
That plus the absence of new PvP content (I can’t effing stand STV) means game over for me.
Might come back for P4, we’ll see.

It feels like a raid, unlike BFD and Gnomer that simply felt like dungeons. 20 instead of 10 players is a big plus. I personally quite like the aesthetic of the place and it has a pretty epic feel to it. Many complain about it, but I think ST was an excellent choice for a raid. The boss mechanics are at an appropriate level for SoD, giving you something to keep in mind without it being contrived. The mechanics are all fairly simple, but you’ll wipe if you ignore them. Perfect.

The raid is a bit heavy on the trash, but I don’t mind too much personally. That’s the only bad thing I have to say about it really.

You are kinda not making any sense here brother.

“but haven’t done ST once and have unsubbed.”

“Don’t like 20 man, don’t like the mechanics, don’t like the amount of trash.”

if you havent tried the raid yourself, how can you say you dont like it, the mechanics or the amount of trash? just from watching it? or do you just naturally want to shoot it down.

100% i can imagine its a wild difference between a PuG Run of this place and chilling with a full guild group.

What i really dont understand though is why arent people interested in the guild life?

just makes the game as whole more fun when you play with same people and the banters exist

I like it, ST has always been one of my favourite dungeon, and the raid is a better iteration of it. Mechanics are thematic and fun while being pretty easy, so it’s in line with the expectations I had for SoD.

Too much thrash for my liking (i wonder how it felt like pre nerfs with 210k hp trash mobs😅).
The mechanics are fine.
I like that they made some minor upgrades to the dungeon. Like for exampel you dont need to press the statues in specific order for the boss to spawn. And the fact that there is less walking distance between bosses and pretty much straight forward.
I dont like the bugs inside the raid ( if you wipe on morpgaz and hazzas they sometimes bug out and game thinks they are still in battle which instant kills you if you get to close, we solved this by having a paladin bubble then run to them and die to reset the boss)
If you kill the atal defenders and accidently pull next boss, which can easy happen (just same misstake as gnomer). The troll bodys for class quest dissapers.
Dreamscythe sometimes bugs out and put the raid into shadow realm state before its suppose too.
Then i dont like that they lock a class quest and proffesion quest behind a raid. Forcing people that are not interesting to raid to raid for stuff that was avaible without raiding in era.(the buying recipes inside gnomer also not so good).
And that you need to spawn the last boss by doing a chain quest i didnt enjoy to much.

What i really dont understand though is why arent people interested in the guild life?

In the classic rerun during the pandemic I actively raided with a “top” guild on our server. Its was stressful but I had the time to do so and enjoyed it for the most part.

Within SoD I dont want that! I am no longer in a position to make “appointments” for a game. Especially not on multiple days per week (which might happen in p4) and with a certain kind of reliability.

For me SoD is supposed to be the relaxing time off in the evening. Go online when I want / can and simply do some stuff without prefarm, worldbuffroutine, raidplaning, discord,… It has been like that in p1 and got continuesly less like that in p2 and p3.

Optimally I can just go on, blast through the raid, do some of the new content and log off. No preb or learning tactics beforehand. No wiping for multiple tries. And so on

The thing is other people love the amount of dedication they can put into the game and therefore want content that rewards that dedication. Beeing it farmable stuff, raid difficulty and so on.

But time will tell what will happen. My honest opinion is that probaly 60-80% of the playerbase want a relaxed version and will simply quit the game if the game (especially raids) in p4 become too stressfull. I know I will… There are other relaxing games out there and I am no longer that fixated on WoW although the game accompanied me for half my life.

Or just dont get eaten by a boss moving in slow motion towards you.
Im not even sure you acually get anything else than poison damage (like standing in puddle) inside of him. Based on the videos and logs, Ive not seen any damage taken from “drown damage” nor did I see a breath meter.

Thorns can be dispelled, melee dont even have to care.

After the nerfs its too easy and boring imo and its only going to get easier from here on.

First week was pretty fun going 6/8 with some wipes here and there and planning to progress on eranikus with proper consumables and buffs the following week, but this week after the overnerf we just went in and one shot every boss.

Hakkar I didnt even know what I was doing and we killed it first try.
