Superdata monthly stats comparison

Disclaimer :
Take these stats with a pinch of salt. These number may or may not be accurate, but they were obtained in the same way for years now so their trend should still have a meaning.

That said WoW’s rank can either be attributed to WoW doing great/bad, that the competition is struggling/ doing great or a mix a both.

Also these stats only count for EU/NA iirc. The chinese and Korean realms revenues aren’t included in this ranking for Blizzard.

Anna post made me wonder about another website used a few months ago to “show the proof that WoW was dead”, Super Data.

Here’s some monthly stats for you folks.

12/03/19 : Patch 8.1.5 release

25/06/19 : Patch 8.2 release

Imho 8.2 greatly improved BFA, even if it may not match your expectations. The fact BFA reached the top 10 in June although the patch was only out for 5 days should support my claim.

I believe (or hope ?) That July will be even better for the game, maybe to the extend of going back to the 3~5 spot the game used to have before BFA downfall.

What do you think about it ?

Patch 8.2 is a big win for BfA, especially Mechagon. Let’s see if they can build on that for 8.3 and 8.3.5 pre-order bonus for allied races for next expansion!

I do think this expansion has improved with 8.2 but for me personally mostly because finally being able to fly. But i do like Nazjatar and especially Mechagon.

No offence to you, but i wish they will leave this allied race stuff to be buried with BFA and will continue how we always had it: expansion brings sometimes new race for us (because let’s face it only thing about allied race being called that is that if they released normal race with grind people would be furious but with that name “it is not the same thing”… also with that name they get away with reskinning in most of the cases).

I hope 9.0 will bring us new class and new profession. New profession i want the most, we haven’t got one for a while and even the olds ones are striped to pretty uninsteresting. I hope Blizzard brings professions to their old glory in 9.0.

I dont understand why people care so much about statistics.

If you like a game play it even if its #1 or #100 an a list.

These numbers are only for CEOs or game devs /designers to check if they such hard or not.

I think at least for wow you need it to be at least alive so you have people to raid with, compete with and have good economies.
For single player it has 0 value but for multiplayer i think it’s pretty important.

I can use my brain properly without any panel or statistic , real or made up.

I kno HotS is beyond dead compared to LoL & DotA
I kno Fortnite is still #1 BR
I kno CSGO still surviving.
I kno Diablo III is dead the last years due to PoE
etc…

If you are legit gamer spending time on your PC , you can understand things like that without having someone streaming and screaming acting as ape tryin to brainwash you and for sure you dont need panels like these.

Well , at least me as person i couldnt care less about these stats.
I will play the games i love even 10 years later and so on.

True but for example i had never heard of that dungeon thingie game and also Diablo 3 feels very much alive the season i play it in ,only the season start month ofc.

And yeah if you game you understand this trends more or less but for example i feel Lol is way more dead than it was in Season 5 by a big milleage and dota is somewhat trailing as always and i don’t know if this is true or not and statistics like this can maybe open your eyes.

I still managed to find players to do coop with when I was last home so it’s not entirely dead.

Stats won’t make me change my enjoyement but they may show me how the game is doing. They have been used for months by Doom sayers but now that they show positive results i think it’s worth reporting.

They also allow you to speculate on the future of the game, since Blizzard has more accurate data and use it to tell whether a feature is working or not. The raid and m+ are pretty similar than in 8.1 so it leave us with changes to azerite farming, essences, flying, gear design and World content.

Some of these things are partialy responsible for this rank, which means we’ll see more of them. Going further would be pure speculation but I’d say the two zones had a great impact on the game and that they may keep the two zones with different design concept for future updates.

In all honesty the real issue is when the MMO population is so low that you cannot actively participate in group content. E.g Queuing for example for pvp and its taking hours to pop.

Then is the only time you should be worried.

so wow is pretty dead if you look at the amount of players every month except 8.2 release month.

they get beaten most months by dota2…
according to steam charts the average amount of players each month:

June 2019 507,528.4 -40,994.7 -7.47% 865,374
May 2019 548,523.2 +28,304.2 +5.44% 997,341
April 2019 520,219.0 -66,286.9 -11.30% 971,545
March 2019 586,505.8 +21,596.2 +3.82% 1,033,925
February 2019 564,909.7 +89,162.7 +18.74% 964,921
January 2019 475,747.0 +36,379.2 +8.28% 874,888
December 2018 439,367.8 -21,705.7 -4.71% 765,422
November 2018 461,073.5 +29,899.6 +6.93% 826,053
October 2018 431,173.9 -35,296.8 -7.57% 739,643
September 2018 466,470.7 -9,630.3 -2.02% 826,166
August 2018 476,101.1 +34,386.7 +7.78% 829,281

goodjob blizzard you have less then 600.000 active players left.

and yes numbers gone up for june but thats just people checking out the patch.

haha you dare say this? in b4 50000 white knights claiming other wise.

ofc the game is dead. theres a reason all the major realms are connected / sharded together.

but then so what. if people enjoy the game let them play it, howver i believe the game is in a extremely bad state. only resubbed because i was losing my mind over league

steam charts? Really…
WoW is not a steam game and has to be manually added to steam. Terrible way to get any data.

those are the steam charts statistics of dota 2, the game wow looses to every month and yes those are accurate cause you can’t play dota2 without steam.

So where is the WoW data?from your chart?Im still cheking the wording from your past post, and i could sware you also meant WoW by that chart.

It seems you’re misunderstanding something.

The ranking i gave is based on earnings, not active players. Dota 2 is known for its insane crowd funded competition prizes and the last one raised no less than 30M through a MTX giving only 25% to the Price pool, which means 120M worth of MTX for this competition

look the statics posted by the topic starterm, wow looses to dota every month except 8.2 release month, that means that wow is doing worse then dota2.

if you look at earnings then its even worse cause we all pay for subs, all of us are forced to pay + people pay for stuff like store mounts, transfers, name changes, faction changes.

you dont have to pay anything to play dota2.

But what does the OP post have to do with what you linked,as a dota2 chart, somehow it was WoW,but then it isnt. But it’s actually dota2 data.Where did you get those?

AIght. So?
So the game is “dead”. Now what? We panic? We cry? We mourn?
…aight. You can go do those…things.
I guess I will have to go play the “dead” game…
