you mean the same win that could be achieved by giving players the chance to actually earn that kind of stuff (also in way more effective way), instead of opening that can of worms and creating all kinds of dismay? you mistakenly keep arguing the way you do under the assumption that not having those items via twitch drop would equal to not having them at all - something that was never proposed.
Thatâs fair enough. I guess I just donât feel like much of a winner when I hop over to twitch to click on a random streamer and mute them for 4 hours so I can get a mount I donât care about, and subsequently spend some money on some subscriptions to their channel so I can get a pet â in the game I already paid for and continue to pay for every month.
But I guess winning is in the eye of the beholder.
There are people who just use the stuff they think is cool.
Liking stuff just because you are the only person who has it just sets you up for disappointment later if everyone else gets it.
There are guaranteed people with way more knowledge about this than you and me who does deep dives into the effect of them, watches trends and whatnot.
The fact that Blizzard keep having these promotions from time to time, tell me that they are definitely not hurting - otherwise Blizzard wouldnât have repeated them.
So what if someone feels this way? For some people, watching the number go up is just as fun as riding around on their new mount. Who are you and I to judge whatâs the right and wrong way to have fun?
I will never ever pay , support or watch a streamer to get in game items.
blizzard is doing these promotions because they want to drive up engagement. on twitch especially in this case. they know how valued those items are and using them for that very reason, disregarding all other aspects. those are cut dry business decions made by suits, not devs with love and care for hunting collecting.
there are mounts for those people, just as there are mounts for people who like rare mounts that are satisfying to get due to their rarity. if you want mounts for numbers, then (going by that logic), no one is entitled to the other.
Yeah, Iâll be sure to send a letter of admiration to all 12 of them.
I think Blizzard have a years long history of favoring short-term revenue gains leading up to their quarterly results in an effort to hit various financial targets and other KPIs, rather than valuing the long-term growth and goodwill of the company.
So there may be people at Blizzard who have a lot of knowledge about this, but for years it seems to have been the wrong kind of knowledge.
Itâs hard to say the company is flourishing these days, so forgive me for not submitting to Blizzardâs wisdom.
I donât judge. I just argue with conviction.
I am so shocked that people make a âpixelâ prestigious and means something when it the scheme of life and meaning its nothing.
I donât do the sub thing, but Iâm more than happy to grab the mount.
Iâll grab the mount too. I donât think Iâll describe the experience of 4 hours on twitch as âhappyâ. But thatâs just me.
Open Twitch, pick a streamer, four hours later I have a mount. That makes me happy.
For what? Are you looking forward to using it?
Yes. Ofc. I love getting new mounts.
My favourite thing is using the âsummon favourite mountâ with no favourites because it picks any mount from the whole collection and itâs great so see what comes up.
Unfortunately itâs currently broken with steady flight and the otterworldy ottuk, but Iâve reported the bug and hope it will be fixed.
Sucks that theyâre doing this streamer thing again. While the Watcher pet belonged where it was first datamined-on the trading post-it could have also been an extra drop for when season 1 starts.
The problem with you is , that you treat the game more than a game it has to mean something to you. Whilst the rest of us see it as a fun time and escape for a while nothing more. You want things to matter then go out and enjoy and embrace real life and if that is not an option try something else but donât make pixels be important or mean anything because really they donât.
People donât value TCG items because theyâre the only one owning it or because they want to lord over those who do not, they do so because achieving them has actual meaning to it.
Whew, talking about passion. Guess itâs my turn now to tell you not to waste so much of your time and energy, eh?
Thatâs a bunch of nonsensical gibberish in response to my basic points, being:
Watching twitch for 4 hours to get a mount is ridiculous.
Paying for subscriptions to streamers to get a pet is also ridiculous.
Blizzard should just put the mount and the pet into the game that we are already paying for, so we can get them by playing WoW instead of watching others do it on twitch!
Such simple points have nothing to do with whatever weird pseudo psychanalysis youâre trying to pull off. Get real.
typical response for a person who runs out of valid arguments and could only come up with insults .
Iâm generally with Jito on this. Tho my care dial is set way lower.
Itâs degenerate and part of a pattern of ânormalisingâ this kind of stuff.
Blizzard slowly push the envelope so something that would have been unthinkable a couple of years back passes without notice, let alone âalarmâ.
For a community that can manufacture outrage out of nothing for nothing youâve been well trained by Blizz to remain quiet on âPay streamers $10 for a petâ you good little consumers you.
I want stuff to be ingame / for playing.
