Swapped from caster to melee

So ive swapped my main from being a warlock, to being a monk.

Its weird how much this has changed the game for me.
The gameplay is a lot more dynamic. Things seem to die a lot quicker.

Dungeons have become pretty dang fun to do as youre not having to wait on cast times while trying to avoid stuff and keep up with a moving tank.
You just run along with them, kicking and punching as you go.

Not sure melee would be nearly as fun if i didnt have monks mobility though.

Playing in large groups on the other hand… pure chaos.
Its completely impossible to tell whats going on when youre stood on top of 20 people, their pets, and a million visual effects.
This is the one huge downside to melee.

I never thought i would play a melee character, but here we are. And its awesome.

No real point to this thread. Just wanted to voice my experience from going from caster mains, to my first ever melee class and main

(Ps, tanking elites is awesome)

What’s wrong with monks? :stuck_out_tongue:

Then the next move will be to play hunter (BM)! Melee at a distance!

I will now make some extremely well rounded argument. Backed up by reams of data and years of experience.

EWWWWWWWWWWW!

I cant stand bm hunter.
Its a 3 button spec. Its so tedious haha

Theyre fun! :stuck_out_tongue:
Youre zooming all over the place, great aoe, self heals and defensives.
And theres just something satisfying about punching and kicking.

(Plus theyre the only class with a healing spec that doesnt have have ugly visual effects for their dps spec)

Also agree that monks are a big L.

That aside, so is melee.

Welcome to melee life!!!

A bit too unsophisticated for my taste.

Thanks!
Changing to monk has breathed new life in to the game for me.

Got 3 bits of tier already so having a fantastic start too!

Once im all geared up, i think ill try my hand at mistweaver. I wanted to change class so i had a healing spec. Might as well try to learn it haha

Welcome to melee!

Personally found melee monks boring.

Enh spec for shaman used to incredibly fun, but been on the border of boring ever since they forced stormstrike to only use two one-handed weapons. Still have hope we can use a two-handed mace or axe and smack things like olden days when it was super fun.

Mostly casters will never admit acting in range is a completely advantage, so they think they deserve more benefits.

From my long time experience as ranged and my brief experience as melee, i would say its 50/50.

Dungeons are way easier as melee as you never have to stop. Even while repositioning youre still going.
Theres less to stress about as theres no casting involved.

Dungeons as melee is superior.

In raids however, being ranged is a huge advantage as there is less movement to worry about in general, and there is a lot of visual clutter in melee range making it hard to know whats going on.

So ranged has it easier in large group environments.

Now think about PVP, World Content, Maxsize of group content (touched in your answer), etcetera.

World content is a hard one.

Im enjoying it more as melee but im also a monk who has fantastic mobility, defensives, self heals, and a tank spec.

But if i was a slow melee class, i dont think it would be nearly as awesome and id probably rather be a ranged dot user.

Pvp i have no real experience with other than being destroyed by everyone so no clue either way :stuck_out_tongue:

I only ever play melee and BM hunter (sometimes) we get gigga cucked by most mechanics but it does feel more active than casting imo.

try to play as holy paladin with mele wings and garbage 23k fps then.
if you heal a lot of high keys like 28/29 you will play godlike as dps/tank or what ever.
skill required for this stuff is kinda insane.

Welcome to melee! :facepunch: I’m truly surprised you haven’t discovered this before.

I find Warlocks in dungeons - at least easy/fast ones - are the absolute worst. Bosses are OK, but every trash mob gets dedded before you can get a cast off, and you end up half-killing yourself all the time with Burning Rush to catch up.

Not really, not anymore atleast!
Besides there are even easier specs than BM rotation wise, like Fury for instance
