Taming and leveling King Bangalash

Hello,

I tamed King Bangie 2 days ago. When I came in STV and accidentally saw him when I was hunting other beasts for quests, I knew I will tame him on level 43.

Firstly, I noticed that it took me a long time from 1 do 6 loyalty (maybe its just a feeling). I was in the dungeon (Ulduman) and I had a real struggle to keep him alive (maybe because I didnt train him Natural Armor (I did it after the instance) or maybe I just used to my boar and the boars are tankier pet then cats).

I found this on Petopia about King Bangalash.

Petopia source:
“Knows: [Claw 6], [Dash 2] when tamed.
Attack speed: 1.4
Cobra Reflexes is a passive skill that is not available at the pet trainer. As a passive, it does not appear that the hunter can learn this skill to pass it on to another pet, and if you untrain King B he will lose it. These things seem to indicate that the skill as it occurs here is a bug. Cobra Refelxes doesn’t show up on the pet bar because it is a passive skill, but you can find it in the pet’s spellbook. The description for this skill is: Cobra Reflexes (Rank 1): Attack speed increased by 30%, but damage done is reduced.”

Can someone confirm this? And also, since I am new player and I am mistaking a lot (will probably make a mistake with using of training points as well), really dont want to make a mistake and to lost his “Cobra Reflexes”.
P.S. - In spellbook there is no “Cobra Reflexes” (passive nor active)

His current talents are:

Arcane Resistance - rank 1
Fire Resistance - rank 1
Frost Resistance - rank 0
Nature Resistance - rank 0
Shadow Resistance - rank 0

Natural Armor - rank 5
Great Stamina - rank 5
Growl - rank 5
Bite - rank 6
Claw - rank 6
Dash - rank 2
Prowl - not learn yet

He has 81 training points left.

Also - how often do you use Prowl?

I would like to know, from people who has an experience with Hunter class and with training pets - how hard is to train equally two pets? I like Bangie, but I also really like my boar (Pumba), dont want to neglect neither.

So far, I only have 2 available spots in stable, but in the near future I will open the third one as well, since I will need one spot for taming one beast to level abilities of my current pets. An latter on, will probably take high level wolf, such as Bloodaxe Worg.

Thank you for your answers,
Best regards,
Sandshrew

Also - how often do you use Prowl?

Probably very rarely or not at all when doing dungeons, levelling etc.

BUT

If you are a Night Elf, and if you decide (once they are released) to do any Battlegrounds then Prowl is your best friend. The classic Night Elf BG tactic is shadowmelding next to a capturable point, activating Prowl on your pet, and waiting for hapless Hordies to come creeping in, expecting an easy capture - then BANG! You come out of the shadows. If you’re Beast Mastery it will have Bestial Wrath activated, which makes it unsnareable, un-CC-able, and pretty-much unstoppable.

In other words Prowl is a good PvP talent for Night Elves, but pretty much useless for all other scenarios. You can maybe use it to scout ahead in dungeons using Prowl + Eye of the Beast, but it’s very, very risky, and can easily lead to wipes.

The most efficient method is spending equal time with both pets - doing a zone with one, then switching to another and doing a zone with that one. You could also just ignore one pet while levelling, and then, once you hit cap, go out grinding with the other to try and power level it - but it’s pretty slow and boring, because you’ll need to grind mobs around the same level as your pet in order to keep it alive, and roll back your own DPS in order to not one-shot them.

Having said that it’s quite a neat way to level some of your lesser-used weapon skills, including unarmed.

Taking your pet into dungeons is also a pretty fast way to level it, but it is best done with a sympathetic group who don’t mind some downtime while you res, heal and feed your pet (it may die a lot to begin with) and understand that your DPS may be a bit nerfed due to having a low level pet.

So far, I only have 2 available spots in stable, but in the near future I will open the third one as well, since I will need one spot for taming one beast to level abilities of my current pets. An latter on, will probably take high level wolf, such as Bloodaxe Worg.

Yes most likely. Save your gold for now though. Only buy that last slot when you can afford it. Once again, it’s maybe something best done after you hit level cap.

I’ve never tamed King Bang, so I don’t have a lot of knowledge about Cobra Reflexes.

As far as I can recall it’s intrinsic to King Bang only, and cannot be learned by any other pet… and it stayed this way until TBC when it was made into a trainable skill. That means that if you dismiss King Bang, you’ll never be able to have a pet with Cobra Reflexes.

Might be wrong though, given that it’s been around 12 years since I last played a Vanilla Hunter, or had to think about this stuff. Best check it with someone who has tamed King Bang recently and knows for sure.

Thank you for your replay. I trying to find something, but there are very little date about it. Hope someone smart, who knows things like this, see this post and answer to me.

From the beginning Im saving gold, its really hard to collect it. I only buy important stuff.

Same here, and I only buy skills from the trainer that will directly help me when leveling, ignoring anything that isn’t a direct benefit, because buying skills is one of the biggest expenses during the early game.

I did treat myself to a new bow from the AH yesterday, as decent bows from quest rewards and world drops are few and far between until you get to around L40 and can do the whole Nessingwary chain, but that’s literally the only thing I’ve bought besides skills, flight paths, and crafting reagents such as spices, thread etc.

Never skimp on your weapon, even if the rest of your gear is sub-par. Hunters live and die by the bow (or gun if you’re a Dwarfy type).

Hello
I just tamed Bangalash.
He has no passive Skills…
Looks like Blizzard nerved him to a normal cat with 1.4 Attack Speed.
At least he has Dash Rank 2 an Claw Rank 6.

Training 2 Pets equally isnt that hard.
Your pet will get your Level after reaching Level Cap
at around one third of your Exp Bar after you level up.
So u can ceep 2 Pets at your Level easily.

Prowl is only usefull in PvE when used with Dash.
The slowing effect make engagements pretty much useless when used without Dash.
Prowl can only activated when your pet is out of combat.
So u can not use it as disengagement tool…
Out of combat, when ur cat is following you cloaked, there is no slow effect.
It is nice to have, if u dont want your pet to pull aggro.

Actually i use Prowl at autocast.
Each time a mob dies my cat goes stealth.
As soon as it engages a mob, autocast enables Dash, so the cat moves faster torwards the mob, and dealing more damage with the first hit.
Both skills at Rank 2 are harmonizing pretty well.

As you named your Boar Pumba i would suggest to tame The Rake.
Out of obvious reasons…
The Rake has 1.2 Attack Speed
and could be find way more faster than Broken Tooth.
Fast attacking pets can hold aggro better.
And u know, it is a Lion…
