There is purpose. You farm tk make your character stronger.
“Making my character stronger” isn’t “farming A to farming B to farming C to farming D so FINALLY my character gets measurably stronger”. In some countries that level of RNG is a cause for concern, because the game starts to look like online gambling, which has its own regulations or is flat-out banned like in China. This has gone out of hand and needs axing. Too much RNG at every step. Too much time wasted because *%&@#$ metrics. And too much corporate pettiness: “Fine, you can buy corruptions, but only if you stockpiled Echoes, which you could NEVER get if you got all essences, and only in a completely RNG dependent way, so have RNG instead of RNG. Oh, and have 1 day notice, it’s not like we care”. Such responses make me think of a certain Austrian princess that went up in the world, became queen of France, and said something very unwise about cakes. Then she lost her head. Literally. Blizz seems to want players to unsub in droves again, should have learned on its own mistakes, but clearly does not.
and ? ask yourself 1 question - do you plan to raid mythic ? do you plan to mythic + like 15-20 , do you plan 5 mask visions ?
because if you dont then you dont need any corruptions at all. and will still obliterate all content.

So if I do not care for M+ because broken spec, broken mechanics, keep moving so 0 dps, RIO etc I do not need any corruptions and am able to breeze through anything? And everyone else screwed by 0 echoes too? Big news flash: SOME of us do not play ez mode Havocs with inbuilt leech, more defensives than some tanks and tools to deal with everything on top of god tier mobility. Maybe you can solo everything, I cannot. Oh wait, you do play Havoc. Why don’t you go back to facerolling everything while grown-ups are talking?
The problem isn’t limited to Mythic. Corruptions also screw PvP up by their randomness and power, when TD3 procs and eats half of your HP just because the other guy is a tank something is very wrong. What reason I have to even try when no amount of effort, skill, time spent can bridge THAT gap? Someone’s lucky, they can almost 1shot me without doing anything, someone is not, so THEN we can have a fight? Solution was really simple, reduce RNG, and for some reason Blizzard instead of just cutting it out replaced it with another sort of RNG. This was so mind-blowingly BAD DECISION that it’s gonna end up as example what not to do when leading a game company. Hope you like butt-kissing your overlords, pity they won’t throw you a bone for being a good minion.

wow was never meant to be played solo.
and again - unless you plan to do hardmodes you dont need even a single corruption.
just farm it slowly over next 2 months - in 8 weeks you will have all bis corruptions you could need. with minimal effort put into it.
lets say you just do 2 assaults and 1 vision per week .
2 assaults is 1k echos
1 vision is 750 .
so 1750 per week - 8x1750 = 14k echos - almost most expensive bis corruption for doing 30 minuts content per week.
you can ofc do more and get it much faster.
just play the game.
From rank 9 to 10 I am still required to get 6 pages, didnt you change it so we could get 1 upgrade in 1 run if we full clear it? Is this a bug or just no communicated correctly?

So i am running some visions on alts to upgrade my cloak, and its all nice that after rank 12, you get your cloak upgrades with just 2 pages of the book. (ie 1 vessel)
Yet rank 8 / 9 / 10 and 11 require the same amount as before the nerf, eating away your vessels due to it.
And due to the limited research, rank 10 (6 pages) will cost me 3 vessels, since without the proper research you cant do all objectives just yet. (got the 200 sanity from elites now, but still)
Is this an oversight?
Is this intended?
Also, i do feel the research requirements need a change in terms of costs aswell, you dont gain nearly as much mementos as before the change so research will take ages now.

Can the RNG rotation of the corruptions please change so we can get all the corruptions at any time?
It will make a lot of people more happy.
Personally I am still not that motivated to farm echoes for the chance that some rank 3 corruption that I want will show up on the period that I have enough echoes for it or that an even better corruption will show up on the next reset while I have already spend my echoes.
Leveling alts on classic is more fun.
