Targeted Corruptions and Faster Cloak Empowerment

you spent 2.5k euro on corruption ?

And this change was NOT targeted to speed up essence gathering on alts. If it took a week to get 1 essence(for example. I AM NOT SURE) then it will continue to do so.

Not sure where you got the idea that the system was to introduced to speed up essence farm on alts?
But then again…guess I can expect anything from you at this point…

Cool, one question tought ?

Why all the hoops again ? I mean will it be so detramental to just have all corruptions available at all times ? If the game is fun to play you dont need to come up with convoluted ways to increase player metrics.

Tired to re-write it. So will quote my own comment.

TL: DR = So that people who hoarded echoes and are sitting on 20k+ doesnt get such a headstart over people who are 0. And the zero people can catch up more easily.

Ah my mistake. It’s late and my brain can’t handle it

This is the only thing i worry about, indeed. When we get 4 items per vendor, it is 8 pieces a week. There are 52 different corruptions( i thought?). Then it can take up months till the corruption you want will be available.

Reward players who put the work in the grinding. It would be terrible having to wait for over a month for the corruption you want with the currency already grinded. That is just mocking annoying players.

Except there’s no real catch up, is there? Those with 20k+ will be able to buy corrupted items immediately. Those with zero won’t. But while the ones with zero will spend weeks farming echoes to get their items, so will those with 20k+.

The catch up is for alts. Our mains are now, what is it, 4 months trying to get corruption items. Some have some, some don’t. But alt will get them from now on a lot faster than we got it on our mains.

Which is better than spending the remaining expansion without good corruptions.

NO ! because drop rate will be x5 ,so currency obtained up to this point is irrelevant on long run .

Its not like a catchup for me. Its more like a “handbreak” for echo hoarders. If they havent upped the prices, i would probably buy ALL my best corruptions on day one.
So people with zero echoes gets to grind for weeks, i can buy everything on day one and show the finger to the unlocky guys who has to grind.
Blizzard tried to adress it in a way, that my echo hoards allows me to get “1 bonus corruptions…maybe two” instead a whole set. So i will also have to grind…

Who are you and what did you do to the old blizzard!? also don’t leave please stay like this forever.

This is a good change, but I have with it a few problems.

I think the costs are way too cheap, while the idea of buyable corruptions are cool, I think it’s not a smart decision to make them super abundant.

I think doubling or tripling the prices is a better idea, because at this rate the game will feel like an mdi server rather than a real one and power levels will raise way too high.

Undoubtedly. And that is not a bad thing. But my point is more about the disparity of the amount of currency currently spread throughout the players.

Those that didn’t bother to buy essences for an offpsec they don’t use or didn’t bother to buy the remaining essences for their specs because they’re not needed, have been able to stack up echoes gained from their activities.

Players that had all essences to begin with didn’t have a chance to do so.

I know players where these examples apply that can buy corruption on day one. And I’m talking about amounts where the 5x gain and further cost is completely ineffective, I’m talking about thousands of echoes stacked.

Not to mention the fact that you’re implementing a catch up system for a BROKEN one. People can’t even resort the gear they have because of the cleanse limitation.

How is this well thought?

Yeah but the costs is that low in comparison with the gains, that you are like 1 or tops 2 weeks ‘behind’. Yes it is a totally broken system. Like i said before, other players already have their corruption and dont care about this at all. How fair is that?

Can anyone explain why there is a corruption rotation twice a week?

Again since you don’t seem to grasp the point I’m making if you have 20k+ echoes you can already buy all the essances currently.

Increasing the echoes cost of the essences does not remove those essences unless someone is hording.

Someone with 0 echoes and who is fresh 120 alt can not have been hoarding. Can you grasp that point?

Making essences 5 times more expensive does not aid catch up as it’s the same net amount to buy as previously.

There is no point in increasing the price of the essences in a patch designed to help catch up.

If you want to look at doing catch up right ask yourself this. Why did they lower the step requirements per cape level?

Nope that was the exact point I was making.

As I said previously is it psychological - player seems bigger number reward, feels better for time invested. It’s part of the reason things like ilvl and damage numbers inflate. The player sees big gains in numbers so feels more powerful, they could increment patches ilvl by 10 with the same power curve but the player wouldn’t feel as empowered if they went up by only increasing by 1 or 2 ilvls

What you dont seem to understand is that this is not an essence catch up.

Except that isn’t remotely true, considering M.O.T.H.E.R is going to have her inventories cycled. We are talking about over 50 types of corruption here, if I’m not mistaken.

In terms of amount of currency it is true.

I believe they are scaled so people that didnt use their echoes for essenses dont just buy all the corruptions. So without the scaling TD3 should be 5k echoes. I think i have around 3-4k on my herbalism alt.
