One time I read a book called how to get rich slowly. So I use it in game. Seems to work quite well. 
I would rather go and pick wild steelbloom than pay 10g for 1 in the AH. Bit of a miser with gold I am !

Join a guild, befriend the GM, become officer or higher rank, rob the guild bank, move to next guild, repeat until rich.

Here’s a good thing to go for, get herbalism and go for Widowbloom in Revendreth. Last I checked, it was selling for double the amount as all other herbs. All herbs will sell and in high amount’s, as anyone who raids either makes their own potions, or people make potions to sell so buy the herbs. Herb’s are your best friend when it comes to making any gold, as they’re always useful.

I use SKINNING/LW/ENCHANTING/COOKING
Kill mobs skin mobs take leather make armor kit that give 32 stamina for 2h right now is 750+ gold per item take all your Heavy Callous Hide that drop from normal mobs send that to your alt with enchanting and make Enchanted Heavy Callous Hid postthis on AH atm is around 1200g
Right now if you have LW and exalted with covenent you can buy
Desolate Leather turn in to Heavy Desolate Leather buy 16 Penumbra Thread from vendor this will cost around 28g and everytime you made 1 armor kit there is around 150g profit last night i buy over 80k leather click made all and i watch series on netflix and i made over 60k without moveing in game

There is a few options, but I personally find boosting to be one of, if now the best gold maker.
Material farming (herbs and potions) are always quite lucrative too but time consuming.
Almost makes me long for the days of WoD, by the end I had 27 optimal garrisons over 3 servers, so much gold, so many bags, about as soul crushing as a desk job, but hey, got my spectral tiger!
It’s all about capitalizing on the things that are in demand, and this can change with each new patch.
Crafting sh!t and selling it on the AH. Not really rocket science. Made several mil in BfA just with crafted gear and combat potions.
In SL I have less time to run around gathering materials, so I had to rebrand a bit. Thankfuly, the mission table and the Queen’s Conservatory came to the rescue. Between the mission table on four characters, a Tier 5 Conservatory on my main and Niya’s bags I get on my main, I make quite a lot just with cooking. Other big seller is Augment Runes. You get quite a bit of those while running four mission tables. Other thing you get a lot is Pet Charms, which I convert into sellable pets. Just the runes and pets and raw gold from the tables and Callings usually makes me a token a month and whatever other bits and bobs I craft with Alchemy and other professions goes into savings. I just hoard materials I get more or less passively and then craft and sell whenever I notice a good opportunity. When the raid first opened, talent-changing books were a great seller and I made quite a penny converting my excess herbs into those, for example. I also made a bit buying up Korthite when it dipped below 2k and then selling when it bounced back - just some usual AH play you can easily do if you know the market and have the capital to do it.
That being said, I have fully levelled alts with a full spread of professions between them and that’s the reason I can operate like that. It came with a large time-invrstment up front, but now I can just chill and make gold with stuff I get more or less passively.
Funny tho’ the bags from Niya are gives waaay more material than a Tier 5 Conservatory (that you have to upgrade for tons of tons of anime)…

Yup, I have a bank full of stacks of pretty much everything because I have this on 1 character lol. I know Kyrian get’s one as well, but, it’s not as useful as Niya’s.

The mad duke gives bags too (mostly flowers and drinks) and the Boneshimts (gems usually with some ore) but none of them could hold a candle to Niya 
Boosting is key, both pvp and pve (even torghast these days lol).
my bigest secret is REALY BIG u guys cant handel it so best to say noting …

why do u need so much gold? like rly now… i do callings. and some alchemy selling on raid days… and i sit at 600k… going up and down cuz of the legendarys etc.
Having a routine is the secret to making gold.

Always log out next to a mailbox near an Auction House.

If it’s not BoA or soulbound, everything goes on AH for 12 hours, disenchant greens and use the mats or put them on AH.

Doing this from the beginning till the end of any expansion since MoP should get you at least 2 million gold.
