Testing Adding Damage Reduction to PvP

thankfully it isnt, ends tmr.

then it is time to simply do surgical nerfs to classes which overperform in pvp and do some other fixes like NS enabling an instant lava burst.

You really must have gotten dunked on by a resto shaman to have such a hard on for this absurdly niche and overall impractical combo

NS+Lava Burst is the main problem with this game, isn’t that sweet, you deserve a pinch on the cheeks.

Having played my warr and hunter over the weekend I’d rather have this change stay then not. Ideally I’d still prefer tweaking certain specs but the bgs were much more enjoyable with the change than before.

Works against any class without a bubble and/or magic dispel, it’s not that niche, especially with OL proc.

Someone that gets Nature’s Swiftness atm doesn’t even get Elemental Mastery, means no 100% crit damage multiplier on spells and 3 second cast time with Lightning Bolt and 2.5 sec cast Chain Lighting

If this isn’t a meme spec and niche I don’t know what is

And any healer resto Shaman that wastes NS on a throwaway Lava Burst when NS is the main defensive cooldown a resto Shaman has is very very questionable.

Can you elaborate? On the fun part of wpvp. What class do you play?

please let it live, pvp was so fine this weekend

unplayable pile of s
hybrids being unkillable for the classes that already suck in pvp.

if you want the old onshot thing blizz should give bubble 15 min cd and only 3 sec duration, so it would be adjust to the oneshot meta

Certainly been an interesting last 4 days. Some feedback that isn’t just dad gamers raging they can’t press one button to carry them now.

Firstly; Damage Reductions never feel good. For any spec. However I think we can all understand why you’ve had to try something drastic. That being said, I do feel there is still room for a DR, or rather my personal suggestion a HP increase. It’s no surprise that damage has outscaled HP and turned bursty when you’ve seen power creep on gear, but not the stamina to match. Rather than making people feel like they’re weaker, just give people more opportunity to react. I’ve played Mage, Shaman and Priest this weekend and I can comfortably say that my mage was incredibly frustrating to play, standing still, casting for 3.5 seconds to hit 776 crit, does NOT feel satisfying in the slightest.

Secondly; There’s been some form of knock-on effect with STV and BGs that because people are living longer, you’re getting less honor and less coins. Granted this may be a little more in line with how you intend the game pacing to be, it certainly feels like a punch in the gut for those on alts, that got their rank 7s or Blood Coin gear in half the time it would now take. If you are planning on keeping this change in, a suggestion of a blanket buff to currency gain of all types, would be welcomed.

Thirdly; I think we still have to remember this is classic and an element of class uniqueness when it comes to their utility, damage and everything else still needs to hold value. Having a mage be a glass cannon, or an elemental shaman line up a one shot etc. etc. those things albeit might not seem great to the person on the receiving end, hold alot of identity within classic. I understand you want to better pacing within the game, but turning it into a retail damp fest isn’t the angle i’d take here. In fact if you want to take anything from retail, they had a very similar issue in Season 1 Dragonflight. What did they do? Added a HP increase on a trinket set. Slowed down pacing just enough to allow more reaction time, whilst also not feeling like you lost character power. This is a point I really do want to reiterate. Waking up and logging on the next day and losing over 50% of your class power does not and will not ever feel good. Especially when you have nothing to can attribute it to, outside of devs just didn’t know what to do so did an blanket nerf.

Finally; DRs serve a purpose, but within classic, there will be significant winners and significant losers with this. We saw hybrid classes become god mode. Which how do you then bring that in line without effecting the PvE content of the game. Simply, you can’t. A bursty meta has never been considered a bad one, so long as you’ve had time to react and adapt. People learn a lot under pressure and how to react quick, again look at retail arena, maybes not nowadays but back in Wrath for example or even MoP, being punished for not using your full toolkit, isn’t bad. Being unable to use said toolkit because of one shots is. Counter-Play always feels good, or rather the opportunity to counter play. As suggested a think a HP buff across the board would suffice, but these are just my two cents. I must admit, i’m looking forward to this change leaving tomorrow. But thought i’d share some input.

Skill issue

PVP Changes were great, stick to them.

To counter the entire problem, which resulted because of pve balance. Just use boss armor values and resistances to balance pve and not have to overbuff hybrid classes which will become gods in pvp. Easy fix without screwing over pvp.

As a Warrior:

it feels great to life longer than 2 sec, so i finaly can start to play

its also great! STV is (after Nightmare Incursions) the 2nd worst thing in SoD

it didnt felt good, it felt GREAT! Best thing what devs did in the last few months

Remove all these nonsense hidden buffs and nerfs and do some real class and gear balancing.

Hidden hp boost and damage reduction complicate even more the game and makes it even harder to balance.

For example if warriors die too fast increase there hp bonus from gear sets or tweak a rune to help them with there survivability
