I basically expanded on what Morgan Freeman once said about r-ism that it ends once we stop talking about it and stop giving people these descriptors. This goes for other groups and -isms as well.

If you care about formerly oppressed groups of people you really do not want them to be propped up in an irritating/forceful way by people who wish to brag about how good they are for doing so. In a similar way that you might not like to be associated with PETA as someone who cares about animal welfare.
That said what Blizzard did here is quite fine and subtle enough just how shiping Valtrois and Stellagosa was quite well done.

but such a stance will always lead to someone being intolerant of your intolerance for someone else’s intolerance. its a never ending cycle if you do that. do you want us all to eventually get on or do you want infinite arguments so you can feel worthy?

i will always come back to this example:

if you line up 100 people in front of me, each of a unique “ism”, and i knock each one out, you dont need to start 100 movements or create 100 new laws.

there is already 1 law out there which fits all 100 cases. GBH. and i should be convicted of GBH on all 100 cases. nothing new or fancy needs to be done.

im not going to bother going deeper, cleverer men than you or i have tried and failed. the sad thing is that we probably agree in most things, as most parties do, but these current social arguments will keep us divided

exactly. people who dont hold any of these negative views are just getting tired of seeing these topics permeate into every aspect of life, and when they voice their fatigue they are lumped in with the few people who actually have those views.

and this is another modern issue. changing definition as it fits. in this case the word boomer is specifically meant to describe a certain group of people, the baby boomers of the 1960s if im not mistaken. the fact that they happen to be old now means nothing. as does a gen x person sharing a boomers views, dose not make that gen xer a boomer.

And this is the other thing that is in peril in our culture as terms are being redefined to fit narratives.
For example somewhere this decade, Phobia : the term meaning irrational fear and aversion somehow also now includes also being rationally wary about a development involving a defined group of people (like the mass moment of people from the middle east).

I hope that the cooler heads will prevail and the sensationalism will eventually be toned down so word can mean what everyone understands they mean.

For what it’s worth, then a thread like this one is unfortunately only going to invite people to discuss or debate – i.e. take opposition to what you said, pick and prod at it, or use it as a starting point for their own little tangent.

Welcome to the forums! You’re rarely dealt a strong hand with a marginal opinion or viewpoint here.

I’m sure many others read your post – I did – but don’t really have much to add, so the response becomes very one-sided.

For what it’s worth, I quite appreciate more representation in the game as well. I think it makes for a better story that the characters are more diverse and different, and I think it makes the story appealing to more players if they can find some characters that are to their liking, for one reason or another.
