The 3k rating reward was a mistake

While arguably not the main culprit, it was chronologically the first thing to lead to the current state of M+.

3k is not a lot - its a mix of +12s and +13s. Keys which were more than doable before the recent ilvl bloat and cartel chip vendor. With the way the chip vendor works and the amount of crests required to fully upgrade your items, everyone has been heavily incentivized to get +12s done on a per character basis. What this lead to is a lot of people who wouldn’t/shouldn’t set foot in anything above a +8 or maybe a “weekly no leaver +10” getting hard carried through +12s, +13s and higher.

It brought what used to be the +2 to +7 dumpster fire up several notches due to the inevitable nature of climbing through sheer perseverance. So now you have people who either because of skewed perception, inflated ego or just plain ignorance are signing up for keys they definitely shouldn’t be in. How do I gauge this? - I ask myself “if the whole group was at the same key level as this person, would we time the key?” and I think the answer to this should be “probably” especially given the key is listed as “beat timer”. If the answer is “definitely”, that means there would be no real challenge in running it but what I’m seeing a lot is people for who the answer would be “definitely not” for several key ranges lower.

To provide some recent examples: did the hunter who got 6 beams from the Lightspawns in Priory and used Feign Death or Survival of the Fittest for exactly 0 of them and who I dispelled 5 Blinding Lights from on the last boss belong in my +14? - Hell no. He is failing basic mechanics he definitely should’ve learned how to deal with in his 100+ timed keys.
The same goes for the shaman in my Meadery +14 who the tank told to bring an invis pot. He didn’t bring one, stood in the hallway for a minute and proceeded to chain pull the pack we were supposed to skip at the worst possible time, wiping the group and ultimately bricking the key since the tank left.

Now I barely do keys unless I have at least a couple of friends in my group to make sure the experience is not horrible. And knowing the horror show fire doesn’t end at +7 has almost completely killed my desire to play my alts - despite the fact that there a lot of specs I’d like to try. As a tank and a healer I can definitely understand the shortage. Current dungeon rotation aside, I just CBAd to shoulder the added difficulty of making up for the people in my group who don’t even seem to be trying.

This is what happens when you label minimal effort as aspirational content and force interaction between the different parts of your playerbase. Its just a worse version of the usual end of season experience.

Fix cartel chips, uncap crests from day 1, delete valorstones, have a key level at which m+ drops myth track gear, trim the loot tables and increase the drop rates to where it doesn’t take you 20+ runs for a pair of bracers, if you insist on having a reward between farm range and title range - put it in the middle, not just above farm range and make it something better than a recolour of the same mount we got from the previous achievement, kthxbye!

Not all pug experiences are smooth. More news as it breaks.

How are they broken?

No thanks.

Well, kind of yes. They provide zero value in game. Not even as an obstruction.

Fine, but it has to be very high key and either:

  • Limited drop chances per week
  • Or
  • Not Tradeable between party members

You have crafting. No thanks.

You are viewing it from the wrong PoV. With the 3k reward Blizzard simply admitted that this season was nerfed so hard, 3k rating this season is equal to 2.5k rating last season.
That’s the point.

Myth track requirements shouldn’t be a thing, I feel like they’re a big part of why we got here. Also no weapons/special items from M+ on the vendor.

Why? What is so inherently wrong about people enjoying the game at their own pace?

No need for the and. With the current M+ loot pool you’re way more likely to get an item you don’t want than an item you do. Who would feel good about regularly wasting loot opportunities on items they don’t need? The tradeability part just extends the problem I run into at the start of every season which is “I don’t need this item because the stats are terrible for me and I can’t even give it to my friend who needs it because its an ilvl upgrade and therefore not tradeable”.

Yes, you do. I said bracers specifically because I’ve been trying to get the special ones from Workshop on my priest. Also I spend enough on consumables as is. I’d rather be able to reasonably farm my gear than have to craft it.

No I get that, I’m just saying that M+ as a whole is in a worse state because of this.

Because unfortunately people do treat it like a competitive game and at the start it can(read: will) be pretty bad with those who’ll force higher item levels in weeks where normally lower item levels and people with less time will otherwise have a chance. Yes, I know it sucks a ton, but unfortunately the system works in saving the community from itself often.

I’m sure some people will no life the game and I think that if they should have that option. I am all for my efforts not being somewhat invalidated after a few keys because someone else has less time to play than I do. You’re also not describing a type of person I’d like to play with (someone having unreasonably high requirements for the content they’re taking part in) so I don’t really see an issue there.

Meh.

After I went 3k with my r druid I made an element all shaman and from level 1 to m 2500 took me around two weeks.

The reason I went 2500 was because I thought that was needed for getting the exclusive tier look before I didn’t know you only has to do it with one character.

Not really. The VDH in that Priory was great and made the correct decision at the end to do some risky chain pulls which allowed us to time the key. Some other people are bad, some other people are good. I’ve been running into enough bad ones to not even want to take part anymore.

Pugs smooth? No for sure.My exp is is like 75% is chaos and wipe fest

Honestly, they should just remove limitation as you said, let the 9-5 like myself play the game at my own pace, and not worry about timegating, crests. Valorstones. And lets just play the game normally.

I seriously hate the timegating and on your note with pugs I sincerely hate them, there should not be a hunter that does not feign death in a 14. I mean if he can’t do that increase the dungeon dmg so ppl that don’t use defensives just die and never time a key in my opinion

The only problem is really that they made s2 KSL easier to obtain than s2 KSH. Should’ve just kept the difficulty instead. When the difficulty got lowered this drastically they may as well put KSL at 3500.

Okay, the vendor should have more M+ and even some Delve items in it. True. But there’s nothing wrong with the Myth requirement.

The Dinars are not catch up mechanic, it is bad luck protection.

You mean what’s wrong having item level range from 640 to 665, instead of 640 to 649 in the first week of the season?

Well, first of all, the entire point of a new season is to have a fair, even start. If you allow the game to be no-lifed, then you essentially make sure that those weren’t able to sink 80 hours in the first week, are now permanently left out of any competitive endgame.

The biggest impact is on M+ players who like to take their time.
From the first week, they won’t be able to get into a group as players with an extra 10 item levels on them will be applying to the farm keys.

Right, you just increased the item level range of players at the first week of season from 640 to 665, into the 640 to 678 zone. Congrats on that.

Well, to be frank those items shouldn’t exist at all, or at least shouldn’t be BiS. That is the actual solution.

Ahm, why?

Your guild name is Best, most important question in GAME , are we having fun ? Answer on me is YES but it is more fun if the OrcMan comes and gives me his fart , and I give him spell to increase his Intellect 5% , 105% of 0 is 0, no effect .

you write that after all the blalalala in the OP frankly you come across as a very toxic elitist, me stronk everyone else bad huff and puff …

you want something to aim go for the top1% and lets be honest people got 3 k very early in the season before the chips and upgrades even came in so most of what you wrote is a moot point.

Well, having to farm one specific item from one specific boss/dungeon is rather painful and also gives bad experience when you get any other item the same slot, as you know you have to replace it.

Also, if it’s not BiS for every spec, then those, for whom it is, will have a baaaaad time, as everything is tuned around being BiS.

Oh no you dont! I saw you sneaking in with that big bag of

Share. NOAW! :man_detective:

I can vauch for him, he isn’t an elitist and our PuGs have been attrocious this season.

Then you should agree that this should apply to the raid items aswell?
