you stopped playing the day ICC came out? Somehow I doubt this.
You’re being way too literal.
The end of something in this context refers to the last chapter.
Oh, but we had, at least those I played with at that time and me, had many alts that we liked to get through the hoops before the world changed again. I actually played MORE in “the end” as you call it than before. It’s not my fault, nor the fault of RDF that you hurry thought the game on your one main and then sit around waiting for the next expansion … in this case waiting a whole year
If you play like this, it would not hurt you if RDF once again came with ICC and lasted for what I at least see as the second half of Wrath.
EDIT:
Put in another way. If the game ends at ICC for you, then you should be OK with RDF in the same patch, so that other players could enjoy the second half with it.
I still juggled alts and what not, but my fondness of alts used to be random world PVP.
The release of RDF reduced the number of people I saw in the world drastically.
RDF ruined the future of the game, and I don’t want to say “well GG character(s) I’ve spent years on, you’re worthless after WoTLKC, I quit now”.
I’d much rather see how Blizzard can recreate future expansions using Classic’s “pillars”, than follow the same path which I already know leads only to disappointment.
PvP never spoke to me. And I had no lack of people Questing and collecting mats alongside from ICC onwards. As I already said, it was the most fun part of Wrath, both in Dungeons and in the Guild, That the ease of everything slowly hollowed out the fun for me, became only obvious later on -
EDIT:
Here I do not mean the RDF, as this was only a QoL change for me, but all the in-game changes slowly making for less brainwork and less anything needed to survive any encounter in the open world. This led to me playing almost exclusively Death = Delete from 2012 onwards and totally quitting Retail after Winterveil 2018.
For me classic ends with Wrath so I would like to have fun in the last half of Wrath too instead of just leaving.
You cannot save Cata, no matter how many broken pillars you underscore it with.
You cannot save Cata
I disagree; do the following:
- Rework the way specialisations work; don’t force people into a full tree before allowing them to put points elsewhere.
- Don’t nerf the dungeons. Seriously, Cataclysm had the best entry level dungeons ever made, they were fun and perfectly tuned.
- Absolutely no LFR
- Remake Dragonsoul. Actually, remake the entire Hour of Twilight patch; those three dungeons sucked too.
- Rework Vashj’ir and add the water raid that was originally planned.
The main problem with Cataclysm was that the end game (prio to HoT patch) was fun, but everything below max level was dull. Cataclysm’s talent revamp and WoTLK’s RDF made levelling super fast, but the world was empty.
no i dont tbh
Do you only play dungeons when guildies invite you or what? I have had lots of fun doing it manually, and I do feel more burdened by being grouped with random players that have no incentive to be pro-social (read: “nice”).
Huh? I don’t know what this means?
If you feel burdened playing with random people how about… you don’t play with random people. This is a choice you can make, RDF or not. How is this an argument for you?
It didn’t have it from the beginning, and it was a big big part of the experience of arriving in Northrend for the first time.
We didn’t have dual specs, 1.5 sec mounting speed and a whole slew of balance changes when we first arrived in Northrend either, what’s your point?
Well, Ruby sanctum wasn’t really anything.
Ruby Sanctum was low key a great fight, it just came too late and didn’t have any other content around it for ages.
Those changes are not the bad ones for me, apart from 1. I totally don’t give a hoot about these, For me:
- World map destryoed.
- Classes having their different skills removed,
- ammo removed,
- feeding pets, leveling lock picking & poison, building up weapons skills, getting soul shard, buying new skill ranks, and getting new talent points each level … removed,
- Hunters now start with a pet at level 1.
- Hunters can shoot at point blank range,
- Tauren Paladins and NE Druids
I just am NOT going to play Cata, nope no way except all this and more get rolled back.
To be perfectly honest it was even way worse back then as there was no cross-server play, meaning that if you do get tossed in with some nice person to play you’re wasting effort trying to be too friendly as you won’t see them again. How anyone can support this I do not know.
It was actually only people from your vattlegroup, also the same people as you did BGs with, the chances of meeting them again were better than you suppose - at least as good as on present days mega-realms
Not having RDF/LFD is gonna kill the expansion in a few months… As soon as enough people drop off so people have to spend 30+ mins getting into hc the people leaving is gonna increase day by day until people cry for transfers and dead servers…
I’m not against all changes. Some changes make sense.
however it not being in the game, will remove a lot of fun from my experience of Wrath.
I actually logged into tbc today, put in the LFG channel, Holy Pala looking for dungeon, and the response was… “holy paladins don’t exist” and no invite to a group sooooo…
People aren’t forced to use it, if it’s in the game.
If it’s not in the game, I can’t use it…

If TBC can survive without the dungeon finder, so can Wrath.
People aren’t forced to use it, if it’s in the game.
That isn’t how the world works. Whether players like it or not, they will almost always take the path of least resistence.
RDF is the fastest way to do dungeons, it’s the fastest way to level too. Not using it would put me at a HUGE disadvantage.
Then use it? If you don’t have the friends already set up in the community to play with. That is literally what it’s there for.
End of the day, when I play, it’s normally with 1-2 people.
If they are on, IL group up with them first and form the rest of the group’s with randoms.
If they aren’t on, I can use RDF.
If you choose least resistance over playing with your friends that’s your call.
Then use it?
That’s what I’m saying, if it were in the game, I’d have absolutely no choice. Ergo your “lol dont use it if you dont like it” argument is trashed.

I don’t care about what you do. Even with friends, RDF is STILL the most efficient way of playing. It’s STILL an instant teleport, it still ignores the heroic daily-lockout and it’s still the fastest way of levelling.
It’s still the single most game breaking feature this game ever added, and is solely responsible for what retail became.

Oh really - I’ll copy this for later … so much crap happene in Wrath and you even want Cata late on … we’ll see.
Oh really - I’ll copy this for later … so much crap happene in Wrath and you even want Cata late on … we’ll see.
By all means.
I’m also fairly certain I said I wanted improved versions of future expansions, rather than one-to-one copies. What I wanted was for the game to not once again die with the Lich King. I’d like this character that I’ve had for 3 years now to still mean something and not just be a waste-of-data because Blizzard chose to (once again) listen to crybabies and completely ruin the game.
The I don’t care… Is kinda irrelevant.
As for your points.
I’d be down for a revamped version of it.
No teleport to dungeons.
Can only queue for the HC once per day
Both things work for me. Just give me the instant group finding
But with the dungeon finder I’ll just need on all loot and attempt to barter for items i actually need, great system
It’s not the tool at fault. It’s the person abusing it that’s at fault… i-e. you.
If you’re on the hunt for one very specific heroic dungeon item and each time it drops, some random *** player wins the rolls every time. Didn’t drop or lost the roll AGAIN? Well, better luck next day and hope you don’t get matched with others that want it.
Yea. That is what RNG is. Jesus, how entitled can you get…
players that have no incentive to be pro-social (read: “nice”).
LMAO I knew it! That says alot about you really. No one that is actually a nice person would need an incentive just to be nice.
Yes it’s not the best of ideas to have a poll here.
He didn’t say on here though. He said Blizzard could make a poll.
I would love for them to make an official poll actually. Be it in game or up on login or how they see fit.
I’m am absolutely convinced there would be a huuuge majority voting for RDF.
Even bigger then on any of all these inofficial polls.
At the very end
That’s a lie getting old. It was implemented after 60% of wotlk. Along side with ICC and way before Ruby Sanctum. Hardly at the very end.
RDF was so damaging as a tool to the longevity of the game
Oh right. I guess that’s why wow is nearing 17 years now…
Every private server includes the dungeon finder
Lol you anti-RDF folks are funny. Some of you says there’s no RDF on any private server and some say every private server has RDF. Very few actually says there are both kinds.
Incidently, that was the only time a content draught didn’t cost subs.
Which was also when RDF was added
Don’t see the connection there? At all?
recreate future expansions using Classic’s “pillars”
Rofl Don’t tell me you’re one of those people actually believing in those “Pillars” as the reason to why there’s no RDF in wotlk c?
I don’t want to say “well GG character(s) I’ve spent years on
Honestly, I think you need to get a grip on things here. You need to be aware that this is only an entertainment, a game. It will at some point end and all your beloved pixels will vanish.

This says it all really. You actually don’t want a wow classic at all. You want some sort of wow 2.
Not having RDF/LFD is gonna kill the expansion in a few months
This is what I am sure will happen yea.
That isn’t how the world works. Whether players like it or not, they will almost always take the path of least resistence.
I agree. But that also means the famous “social aspect” wasn’t very important after all.
After all, according to most of you anti-RDF’ers there are so many of you. Shouldn’t be hard at all, if that is the case, to play together with all those.
so much crap happene in Wrath and you even want Cata late on
He did want cata… but you saw all the changes he wanted to it? He doesn’t want cata classic. He wants some sort of wow 2.
for the game to not once again die with the Lich King.
It didn’t. We’re still here playing. What, 12 years(?) later. Just because you didn’t like some changes, it doesn’t mean it died.
