With the launch of MoP hours away I’ve finally got to get this off my chest. The best thing that can happen to WoW in near future is the scrapped content of Warlords of Draenor getting officially developed and released in the future WoD Classic, in my opinion.
The reason behind is that Draenor was an amazing expansion in many regards. It got bruised reputation primarily because of the shortage of content and undelivered promises. It deserves proper attention and can provide unique and beautiful experience to the players, if delivered.
Second reason behind it is that it will show the ability to own and fix missteps, sooner or later, which would bring substantial amount of respect and good publicity to Blizzard.
The beauty of Draenor and what it means to me.
TBC was my previous favourite expansion. And WoD provided the ability to see and explore Outland and its lore before it faced destruction, lush and untouched. Lore-wise, it came to the roots of the Warcraft story: orcs and the threat of their Horde; the Legion invasion; the Dark Portal.
In WoD I’ve finally got into raiding thanks to LFR, and it was glorious - raid mechanics were extremely fun, various and rewarding. Also Frostfire Ridge music is absolutely beautiful and stunning. I liked the idea and convenience of garrisons. I liked the zones, their atmosphere and the way you progress and quest through them, how zones were packed much denser.
Dungeons were also very cool. One takes you onto a fast moving train rather than yet another generic location. The Iron Docks had one of my favourite dialogues to ever hit the game: the orc boss being oblivious and overconfident and his orc pupil having to listen to his commands while realizing that the boss was likely mistaken. And that shortcut jump in the Everbloom was so satisfying to learn and perform.
The cut content that would be awesome to have.
The Farahlon Island.
The Shattrath raid.
The live zone railroads.
The Zangar Sea zone (Zangarmarsh was my favourite zone in TBC).
Cities of Karabor and Bladespire Citadel, and other zone’s garrisons as they were initially invisioned.
That’s not a perfect or comprehensive list, but rather the things I have on top of my head in terms of the content I would love to see and experience.
Conclusion
I love Warlords of Draenor, it was an expansion with solid foundation. And in my opinion there’s a way to turn past frustrations into future triumph. I don’t know if this hope is realistic and if I made any good job in expressing it, but it was for sure worth a try.
