The spawn is not random at all, it is very predictable. If you find one BL, you can time it and have a entire zone under control. Reducing spawntimer will just give the people controlling the spawns more of them.
This depends a lot on the server though, not every server have bigtime camping of the lotuses, but the megaservers does.
Obviously nothing will ever change if blizzard remains incompetent. One of the reasons flask are so expensive is that bots generate insane amount of raw gold compared to regular accounts. Mages farm crazy gold/h, but they aernt rly participating to inflation all that much
But you are blaming multiboxing, someting that is just a tool, and not the problem.
And the reason flasks are expensive is because people pop them like candy in easy content. Scarce resource being used as it was a common one will do that
Lotus are not scarce.each layer produces around 700 a week
The spawn timer was randomized from a fixed 60min to 45-75min. It makes camping one spawn point once you have the timer much less worth it because you still have an entire 30min window where it could spawn there or could spawn some place else entirely. It also means giving up the timer almost every time.
I’ve farmed herbs in EPL a lot over the months and I haven’t seen a single lotus spawn, let alone gathered one. We’ve had a gold seller camp the entire place with 7 low level characters and there’s nothing anyone who doesn’t pay 100+ a month on multiple accounts can do about it.
These herbs weren’t made with mega servers in mind and they weren’t made with mall cop players/botters in mind.
If lotus spawn rates stay like this it will heavily impact player retention during Naxx as most people won’t want to farm 500g a week just to consume up for one raid. Frankly, for most guilds it’ll be far more than that if wiping is involved.
The only way to really “solve the issue” it to change it like arcane crystal comes randomly from thorium
so any high herbs have a x% to drop a black lotus, would get rid of the botters, and everyone would be happy

We are on a low pop server (Ten Storms) and they are corpse camping the BL spawns here just as much. Making things worse, they do not sell the items on Ten Storms, but after collecting enough they transfer the character to a high pop high price server to sell them. So there is a serious lack of black lotus on the server because they are just taken off to be sold elsewhere.

same here in dragonfang, and its not just botters that takes our goodies to another server, people actually transfer here for arcane crystal and such load em up take them away and leave us with crazy prices.

i love when someone comes here and instead of trying to resolve an issue just says ignore the issue and work around it.
yet your comment implies that everything is fine, suck it up that these thing are controlled only for real life profit by people who dont care about the game itself.
maybe you are one of them
no man. im mage i dont need to farm black lotus to get gold. i was former devilsaur maffia tho, one day they jsut changed the spawn timer on devilsaurs and the prices Went down over a night. its weird but i dont know… farming and spending 5 hours per week just to finnish a raid 30 min faster doesnt make sense… only pve heros care about this
i dont think people actually care that much about the fact that they cant flask every raid night, its more like the anger that the option doesnt exist because it is solely controlled by organization who takes it away and gets real life profit on it(usually)
i dont think it would be an issue if dedicated herbalists would just camp it on time but we all know thats not the case.
The biggest issue is that we got the upgraded AV
The old AV had black lotus spawn chance, i remember flasks were 30-40 gold back then.

hmmm… well i do agree blizzard doesnt do any Changes to black lotus is kinda strange since they Changes spawn timers on other stuff. but they probably dont want the min maxing for raids to become standard for everyone. thats the only reason i can see why they not change it
Just add a vendor with lotuses at some price between 40-60 gold and stick it to all the gold farmers. Herbalists will still make some money if they get one as they can undercut the vendor.
I mean yea #nochanges and all that but f#$@# it in 2006 we did not have so many accounts per server and so many farmers.
But then farmers have tens of accounts and that migth be thousands of E per month in subscriptions so…
im sorry but i cant believe people are this delussional
Do you think organizations who are botting going to pay for subscription?
Or just bot it out in a day in retail, get token and be done with it?!
With your logic we can remove half the game professions then that craft stuff not 100% needed to end game content. But that’s not the point here is it.
Its not a problem that the Black Lotus is a 100% must have for everyone, it is a problem that people without game play intentions, are preventing players normal access to this, using ways that are questionable at best, to make profit outside of the game. And the fact that there is no action taken against them (botters, gold sellers) or game mechanics adjusted to prevent easy abuse.
hmm when u put it that way i guess i have to agree with you. but if they are allowing this, which they are, then this is only the tip of the iceberg.
so have fun troll arround troll blizzard make bigger noise, but remember to have fun while doing it
Decreasing spawn time will not fix anything in your case then, just give the people camping then more spawns
