The Blood Elf Customization Thread

Here we go, elfs asking for things again
Your obsession with eye colors is ridiculous

Hullo hullo hullo, I predicted this type of response and have already given the rationale pre-emptively just a few posts above, because we all know people can’t see the word ‘Elves’ without getting triggered into responding without reading what is, a very short thread, and therefore completely missing the point. A Couple of people have mentioned eye colour, most are asking for something else. If you do, you will also see -why- they are asking for stuff

I’ve got to admit, I went on the PTR very briefly to see what the new options were like. A blue eyed, blonde haired High Elf on the Alliance looks very cool indeed, and this is coming from a Belf player who is sick to death of the whole ‘give us High Elves’ movement. I think once you take the tentacles away, those hairstyles are very nice.

So nice that I’m now quite envious.

I think we need some more stuff to make us, y’know, Blood Elves rather than slightly neater Void Elves.
Definitely some arcane flair, like glowing tattoos, or something to make Blood Elves the Light aligned ones if Void elves go the other way.
And some more hairstyles wouldn’t hurt. I don’t care if Void Elves get ours, so long as we get theirs too.

Blood elf customisation is one of the top ones currently statistically speaking
in what universe are belves lacking customisation

Actually all races are lacking compared to Male orcs. There is a statistic showing they won the customization lot. Night elf females come in second place.

Blood elves could use a little extra customizations after all the allied races are done. They are the most popular horde race. And compared to Void elves, they are kinda lacking.

So yeah. They need some customizations. And there are tons of stuff lorewise that they should’ve gotten in their customizations update a year ago.

Also have the option for them to be a black square to make them less insufferable.

Uhh
This one?

As I posted earlier, look at the customisation options objectively and you’ll see that they got almost jack all, especially in comparison to other ‘core’ races like Orcs.

“Here, have two new skin colours, one arabian looking, and one darker one”
“OK, no one asked for it, but y’know, they do look pretty cool, cheers, so that’s two out of the 40 customisations yeah?”
“Yeah, oh and
”
“You want Blue Eyes? That’s a customisation slot”
“Thats cool, nice, like it. That leaves 37 other slots as you stated, right?”
“Yeah, so do you want blue blue, greeny blue, bluey green, blue that is paler than blue but not green?”
“Er, no, just Blue will do”
“No, no, you need to have different shades of blue, and whilst we’re at it, green”
“No, hang on, that’s not a customisation
”
“Just wait, you want blind eye option?”
“Sure, OK, why not, our racial leader has a missing eye, some people might like that look so is that another customisation slot?”
“Well, do you want a blind right eye whilst having a green eye on your left, a green-ish eye on your left, a gold eye on your left, a blue eye on your left, a blue-ish eye on your left, a bluey green eye on your left, a greeny blue eye on your left, or two blind eyes?”
“That’s a lot of customisation amounting to nothing, and eating away at the actual things you promised us”
“Oh, and the same applies to the other way around, you can have your -left- eye be blind, and all the above options for your right eye”
“No, hang on, this is rubbish, other races are getting cool stuff, can we actually have some of the stuff we wanted?”
“Sure”
“Really?”
“Yeah, really, here, Have a beard option for male Elves.”
“OK, Progress”
“We’ll swap some of your male hairstyles onto female Belves”
“OK, not -really- progress, but I can see it working”
“And you can actually have black hair instead of that mismatched abomination of a colour you’ve had for more than a decade”
“Whoohoo, Now we’re talking, what’s left? It’s the customisations we’ve been asking for isn’t it? Come on Blizz, you tease, its the tattoos, the braids, the Farstrider stuff, come on
”
"No, you’ll like this
behold
Body jewellery "
“Umm
what?”
“I know, beautiful right?”
“No! It’s garbage, and also why is that only visible when your character is naked? Are you seriously saying that one of our character customisations, wait, no, five of them, have went on something that you will never ever see unless you earn your living as a Goldshire Lapdancer? Are you for freakin’ real?”

Nope. Blood Elves actually got the least customisation of any core race, and now, less customisation than some Allied Races. Because that ‘statistically’ does not count ‘Blind eye’ as a customisation, but is broken down to ‘Blind eye with whatever shade of eye they have’ and then duplicated over to the other eye.

As they say, ‘Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics’. In reality, Blood Elves are still waiting on the promised amount of customisation.

Let’s be fair, a lot of people say that about Vulpera. Not me, I kinda like their desert survivalist vibe, they remind me of the Fremen from ‘Dune’

Whilst I agree blood elves need way more customisation options certainly to now make them stand out from Velf (who are at this point barely different with the options they’ll be getting) let’s not overegg the pudding. You got some options, admittedly a lot were crap, but you didn’t get the least of any core race.

That award is reserved for Pandaren. We got 3 skin tones (which are basically DK ones), 3 hair styles per gender and 3 eye colours we could not have before (red, purple and blind). That’s it. The rest was just flexibility on options we already had.

Blizzard to adjust the massive disparity in customisations. For Belf, Worgen and Pandaren especially. At this point Velf already have more options than these three races and LFD and Nightborne are going to outpace them next patch.

It’s not really fair. I look at the Warcraft reforged Pandaren and ask why? Why not the ash fur? Why not the two tone beards? The longer straight hair on males? The fur patterning they show?

Similarly for Belf, where are the arcane tattoos? The braids? Earrings for men?

I am very happy for the nightborne and Velf players, the NB thread was worked hard on (and to a degree co opted by Velf at some point
) but it does feel a little bit like Velf players have blizzards ear atm which doesn’t feel awesome.

They’re focusing on NB, Velf players chime in, blizzard do stuff just for them. Okay. More comments. Blizzard do it again. It’s starting to feel a bit surreal honestly.

I’m going to try and make a clear (and hopefully developed and supported if the forum allows it) Pandaren thread, I’ve done several posts in detail in the past but guess I’ll try again. It kinda sucks though knowing I’ve done this before and nothing gets acknowledged but when people (in the NB thread) go “Velf want this plz” blizz action it immediately. It feels very unfair.

And still some of them are of the “okay now we still need
” mindset. Come on. Let others get their turn already. Velf have got a truckton more than most races in the game and quite a lot of “special attention” whilst others are left in the dust, and TWICE now they receive additional tweaks when they’re not even the race being focused on (first draft of options when ARs were getting none, and now they’re getting updates during the NB and LFD rehaul). How come they get to jump the queue so often?

You write Dune. I like.

Seriously, though, that post was amazingly fun and very much to the point.

The body jewelry seems like a ‘ran out of ideas and did not bother to check forums for fan request’ addition.

And yet the forums was full of ideas!

This is the joke. We’ve had threads (Like the NB one) which are detailed for stuff for Belf and other races like Mechagnomes too for example (and in the original customisation thread I posted several large posts on Pandaren) and nothing! Maybe it’s due to new staff so now is the moment to bump?

It just seems weird. I mean In the NB thread when LFD were announced to be up and running for options I literally posted about how “it would be nice if they got yellowish tones for skin too to keep them separate from OG Draenei” and two days later they reveal the new skins with yellow amongst them.

Seems like now is the time!

I just wonder if you elves are ever satisfied

Well, I mean you are posting from a character of a race that got the most customisation, so no wonder you would ask that

It would be nice if the tiara was a separate option and not tied to one hairstyle. It would also be nice if it had the same colour options as the other jewellery.

I have to admit that I also have an elf and I think they have a wide choice too. I am quite satisfied. Maybe they should add piercings for males and that’s it :slightly_smiling_face:

There are races that have much fewer options, but they don’t write about it here all day, for example dark iron dwarfs. They should definitely get new things before you/us.

Nah, flip that around, (and yeah, I have a Dark Iron, need to play her more often to be fair) Reason being, that Blizz established what they viewed as ‘Core Races’ (Which personally I think is a silly term) which was everything up to Draenei/Blood Elves. Of those ‘Core races’ Blood elves actually got the least customisation.

Now of the Allied races they actually started -out- with more customisation than some, mostly. Nightborne were an atrocity, and it is awesome that Blizzard have now actually listened and given them a finished model, because the released version was abysmal. Since then, more and more Blood elf stuff has been ported over to Void Elves, which is fine, it makes lore sense, the OG Void Elves were after all Blood Elves originally.

It does however mean that despite having the least unique customisation for the race anyway, that the ‘unique’ factor has been even more diluted for Blood Elves, so something needs to be put in that is/are ‘Blood Elf’ things. Not Void Elf things, not ‘High Elf’ things, but things unique to Blood Elves, which currently they are kind of lacking, alone out of the ‘Core’ races.

It isn’t an unreasonable request. Void Elves wanted ‘normal’ skin colours, because Alleria has them. They got 'em. They then wanted ‘normal’ hair colours, because Alleria has it. They got 'em.

All I want is for the Dominant strain of Thalassian Elves to actually get something unique for themselves, which I don’t think is unreasonable, especially when we have examples going back to the actual RTS games as to how Elves looked.

Arcane tattoos, Ranger Warpaint, braids and feathers would be a nice touch. They did it for Dwarves after all.

You are right about uniqueness. Dark iron dwarfs are much more unique than belves despite having far fewer options (but that doesn’t mean they should be left with those few options), and this has come about by giving velves almost the same options as belves. I never understood why velf players wanted to look like belves. Wasn’t it better for them to be different ie unique? I really don’t understand that

But I understand your point, more unique options. Makes sense.

I haven’t seen it mentioned yet, so there we go: I would like more dark skintones in the medium range. At the moment there’s only one, but it has a completely different undertone (yellow, while the two dark skintones and distinctively reddish). A wider gradient-like range would be nice.

I wish i can customize a pДnis size of my female void elf

Well, that’s
pretty niche
Maybe suggest it on the Void Elves list if err, that is what floats your boat as they say?

Option for eyebrows length would be cool, similar to what has been added for NB recently in PTR
