The change towards Garrosh' dialogue was unneeded

You keep talking about double standards as an abstract term, maybe you actually want to point out what you’re talking about?

Because what I see is:

  • One group is justifying the removal because it’s a swear word and it doesn’t really suit their moral code having it there just for the sake of it.
  • The other group are mad it got removed because… IDK I still need some more explanation about this one. Is it because they felt it was really important to have there or are they just mad Blizzard is trying to please a group of people that doesn’t have them included?

I’m leveling an undead warrior now, the goal is to read all the quests, see everything, take it VERY slow… and I just saw that line last week, fully immersed into the game’s world and it took me out. I don’t care about Blizz’s excuses to remove it, to me it felt out of place. It comes very early in the game for undead players, so on top of being out of place, it’ll give new players improper expectations of the game’s tone. I don’t mind profanity at all, but not all profanity everywhere is good writing. I wish more modern network shows would realize that. Putting nudity in your show doesn’t make it good or adult, either. It’s not a matter of censorship, it’s a matter of good writing. Which that line was not.

Because someone took notice now, that’s all. I could say the same about dozens of instances buried under the mountain of text that is WoW. If someone who cares were to notice it now stuff would probably change, but they stay as they are because most people don’t care.

Moral code.
What exactly is that ?
A moral code that allows civilians to be burned alive but doesn’t like when Sylvanas is called a B$#@$.

If that’s their “moral code” it’s twisted.

There are worst things to be removed and unfortunately this expansion was the worst of them all.

If you wanna act “moral” start with this all expansion, not some insignificant word a dead character said 9 years ago.

Cheers.

As i said before i am against cencorship and against putting the blame away from one self, just because one doesn´t want to work on their shortcommings. Thats all. But really i do not care. Just wanted to say that before we talked.

Also i kinda don´t understand why people are dumping so hard on you xD

I already said the game should be 16+. You need to retcon the entire story for it to be 12+ (bombing theramore, usage of blight etc.). That is my moral code.

People somehow blame Blizzard for being a cashgrab and appeasing certain groups. All companies do that. They run a business and want their target audience to be as large as possible, that includes lower age ratings and as many social groups.

If you wanna blame someone blame PEGI/ESRB for letting them get away with this.

About the line itself I never really cared about it which is why I think people are making a mountain out of a molehill here.

I guess people like to assume stuff. If I say it’s not a big deal then I must be a SJW/Blizzard shill/Hypocrite. It’s hard to grasp that I’m a human being with my own opinions, some of them might align with yours, some might not. But it’s much easier to label me.

It doesn’t bother me really if it did I’d probably leave the discussion.

Many people talk about hypocrisy here but I find it just as hypocrite claiming you’re against “special snowflakes who get triggered by every little thing” when they themselves are so trigger happy with such a small and pretty insignificant change.

I mean i agree with them and you. Should Blizz do that? No. It is so painfully obvious when companies virtue signal that it baffels me that it works at all. Really its like all the “tricks” that are supposed to make you buy more at stores. It really baffles me that most of it actually works.

But yes it is the ESRBs / PEGIs fault for being on AAA companies payrolls.

Umm… not entirely sure what you meant to quote there, if at all. You might want to adjust that.

Oh whoops. xD
Done.

People have the right to complain when double standards are in place.

Yes.
That makes it totally fine, right ?

Because everyone does it, it’s ok ?
Nice to know.

Yes it’s their fault obviously that this company cares more about word than the whole morality on the game.

If you don’t like discussions don’t take part in them.

I am building your profile based on this interaction.

If they didn’t like something and they wanted a change, why should they be entitled to have their way and not other people ?

Because they are special ?

Cheers.

I give them the lesser evil treatment, I have bigger problems in my life then care about the moral code of an american video game company.

You have more important things to care in your life than the moral code of a American company.
But you cared enough to post here, defending their position.

Here’s the question why ?

Cheers.

People have hobbies and come to talk about stuff they love.

Sometimes you just have a bad day and want to let the time pass.

Not everything has a deeper meaning.

To be honest, i don’t really care whether it’s in the game or not, but that one line was always weird to me, since it’s the only time when Garrosh talks like that. It felt out of character. If Garrosh would’ve walked around throwing all kinds of f and b bombs (no pun intended) it would’ve been fine.

Wth is going with devs nowadays its same like with bf5,making bad decision and then hiding behind kids, its so pathetic…

In other news a Sheila Broflovski type parent, exposed a too young kid to a game for teenagers so instead of telling that parent to sock it cause they are not being a good parent, they dumb down the language of a teen game…

This was Garrosh’s best or second best moment. The two times where he showed some conscience.

It is a meme at this point.

Real children at the age of the South park cast are actually speaking lot like that when their parents are not around. I remeber when I was in third grade that the boys were talking about that scene in Iron Eagle 3: Aces where the protag said to the villain “kiss my (A-word for posterior)” even though it was not even our mother language.

This change is nothing more than flexing by people who did not create the game but inherited it and want to show off how they are in charge now.

Or no It is worse than flexing. It is just a futile move by helicopter parents who are under the delusion that they are actually in control of what their kids can know in the age of TV and the internet.

If you want your children to be better people, teach them to not be bullies or to not stand for others being bullies. Not doing so carries over in both games and their adult life

Are they removing the dialog where Garrosh called Sylvanas a female k9? Perhaps it will be replaced with another animal. Cow? Donkey? Honey Badger? I was rather surprised when I heard the dialog the first time and I’m also kinda surprised it hasen’t been removed untill now.

Maybe Garrosh finally got done repenting for his sins in the Venthyr covenant and it somehow changed his past? :^)

Sadly no, they could not be smart enough to just swap the first letter and turn it into “witch” that would carry a relevant enough meaning.
They just removed the word.

I cringe when I think these guys are supposed to be professionals.

I don’t really care either way. If it’s there, fine, if not, whatever. It did feel a bit forced to me:

  1. Garrosh doesn’t swear in general, so it’s uncharacteristic
  2. the VA on it made it sound like a 10 year try to be edgey and slapping the word on the end for “big bad factor”. It doesn’t sound threatening or intimidating at all. Maybe that’s why it sounds so wierd to me.

I will say this though, I’m really at a loss as to the posts here and the other thread where people are claiming this quest is amongst the best in the game, or this dialogue is “the highlight of the zone”, its Garrosh’s top 5…just stop.

It comes across really tokenistically. It’s a “watch RP” quest where the swear word has very little to do with what’s going on. wow has much, much, much better in terms of drama and intrigue.
It comes across like those dudes who suddenly massively cared about the integrity of the little mermaid being ruined when the LA remake had a black Arial. Like literally nothing about it in all probability since they watched it as children but suddenly it’s like a significant part of their concerns they confidentially start talking about. I mean beyond these threads, I have seen nobody ever mention this question or dialogue in any of the “best quest/lines” threads that have popped up over the years.

As said, don’t care either way. Put it back for all I care, but some of the arguments against the removal are pretty wierd imo.
