Maybe I’ll upset some people saying this, but it is just my opinion.
I think Demon Hunter is an horrible designed class. Not because I think it has nothing useful or something of the sorts.
In my opinion the class is badely designed because they have everything in such a simple kit.
I play exclusively melee classes because I don’t like playing ranged classes in MMORPGs. My most played, by order, classes are:
1 - Warrior
2 - Paladin
3 - Death Knight
4 - Demon Hunter
Personally, I found Demon Hunter to be the most boring melee class in the game, even more than Ret Paladin. Yes, pratically no class is that hard to play, but Demon Hunter takes the cake.
Because Demon Hunter has DPS, AoE, Mobility, Utility and Survivability in such a simple kit is pretty complicated to balance it without making it at least underwhelming.
Their rotation doesn’t have that much to play with and doesn’t have much room to tweak it without completely unbalancing it.
If you say so, no one have better spells than a DH
They have the best slow or roots
Best aoe outside burst at the begining
Best stun
Best purge
Best damage outside burst
The fel rush itself is superior in every way to other melee’s classes gap closer
They are immune or can absorb tons of magic damage without a long cd
They suffer the least of every melee class if you slow them
As you can see all the tools that they have that serve the same purpose is way superior to other classes. They simply have no weaknesses.
You got the same problem echoing through the entire game.
In example, you cant even compare a blood dk to a guardian druid due to the size of the dk’s toolkit.
Will anyone do anything about it?
No.

Actually they have a big one: Slow. You have no idea how many DH went ballistic after I perma-slow them from afar down with my shadow priest. Slowing them down decreases the damage output immensely.
But they are indeed a somewhat broken class with an absolute stupid design (Demon’s bite for getting resources, for real?) and on the low level ceiling when it comes to gameplay.
Completely disagree , nerfing mobility will kill the fun part of the class. If they have to do something about dh’s , they need to do targeted changes at pvp talent tree.
Half of the classes have slow fall abilities as baseline.Glide never is a problem and never will be since glider kit exists. Also i’m still using glider kit for escapes cuz goblin glider is faster.
Heroic leap fel rush comparison is kinda wrong , you need to compare it with vengeful retreat and just by looking it on mobility side leap is superior.
Yes blink has 5 second longer cd but it frees the caster from stuns and bonds unlike fel rush.
Any nerf that will happen to mobility side of this class will completely kill the fun of it. If that happens playing fury warrior will be better. If they really have to nerf something about pve (which i don’t think it’s necessary , before essences we weren’t even top tier dps ) they should probably nerf blur by increasing the cd.
I learned how they work. Took me like 5 minutes. My conclusion: They are busted, even a monkey can be “good” at it and the edginess is real with this class. Literally the only things they miss is baseline slow and MS.
I suppose you are talking about pvp since warlocks isn’t that hard either in pve.
And I aslo suppose you already know how much more warlocks than DH’s there are in both 2s and 3s when players learn how to counter them witch is pretty weird since they have no weaknesses.
The less of the same class there are the harder it is to gain rating but I’m pretty sure I don’t have to tell you that either.
Lore wise as a hunter demons are easy to kill already did that in tbc with the demon stalker tier set.

And being 2 things have you heard about Shaman Elements. Warlock Demons. Hunter beasts. Mage Elemental.
On the magic bull you talk about that should mean demon hunters do close to no damage on paladins as they are vessels of the light.

Agility and being armoured is not opposites.
Using a bow with agility instead of strength is.
Blur being 1min cooldown is better than actual tank cooldowns at 5min take the paladin tank big cooldown guardian of Ancient Kings it is a 5min cooldown doing 50% damage reduction for 8seconds.
Using that logic it should be insanely hard to kill a death knight as that is there whole lore.
And unlike demon hunter when DK came in to the game you where suppose to change your existing max level char in to a DK and that was why they termed it a hero class.
This as we all know is not the case and the only thing left of the hero class thing is that you do not start at level 1.
Gimmie same CD on my Divine steed
Give Inquisition passive 10 leach and wings 30 leach
Make my Buble instead a 70% chance on missing me and my partner
Remove my Flash of light, Lay on hands
Oh wait, what about classes being different and have some fantasy?

goresfiend grasp is a niche spell that didnt see much use before this tier
death grip is nice but not gamebreaking
druid have stampeding roar which is very good all the time especialy on the awakened affix
they have ursol’s vortex and typhoon meaning that they can kite without relying on their party which dk is forced to since death and decay slow is strong for 3-4 sec only
they have a decurse and poison dispell, dk have no dispells
they can also stealth which is kind of niche but can see some use (death skips, or not having to necesserly rely on a invis pot)
i personaly only do mythic+ and i think that bears are way better than blood dk
The way you speak implies that DH’s are immortal. They’re not. They can and have been countered many times over.
Of all the classes, a Pala has no say about a lack of toolkit. The only reason they’re on High CD’s is because you have just about everything else to fall back on. Pair that with plate armour and decent DPS, and you’re more than sufficient for anything this game throws at you.
Also, the leech is useless without gaining the orbs which are only a dropped chance. You have a on-demand heal, bubble and basically a second life heal. How isn’t that adequate for you compared to a DH?
So they should nerf fire mages blaster master trait because they do more damage in raid and mythic+, and they should also nerf outlaw rogue because they are pretty similar in terms of dps in mythic+.
Oh wait, that would mean that havoc dh is not absolutely the best at everything by a mile so i guess it doesn’t fit in this topic.
to be op you either are the best by a mile at something like fire mage burst or prot warrior physical damage mitigation
or
you are so strong at everything at the same time that you become op while still having competitor in every field
if you can compete with monk on mobility , dk on survivability, outlaw in aoe, fire in single target
at the same time
then you are op

Weird, i don’t see raids full of dh-s, or mythic+ groups with only dh’s. If they are so OP and have no drawback then why people bring more fire mages and why there is only 1-2 dh dps in raids?
I get the argument that they are broken in PvP but the PvE argument is stupid. Are they strong? Yeah. Are they completely irreplacable and do they take raiding spots or m+ spots from every other class, do they outdps everyone in every single situation? No, they don’t. In high end m+ streams, dhs are usually significantly behind both outlaw rogues and mages in overall damage, and they are behind fire mage, destruction warlock and a few other specs in the current raid.
The fact is that there are multiple very strong specs at the top, but instead of some people trying to do their best, they come to the forums and whine about dh’s simply because they waited for this moment ever since they were released, but in Legion the only thing they could say about them was “they can glide it’s unfair huehuehue”.
Fire mage are not stacked in dungeon because you need melee interrupt or your tank will get one shoted by some spell and other spec utilty are requiered at a high end level like shroud to avoid impossible packs or a brez for death skip
as i said it’s not because some spec are better at one thing that its okay for dh to be very strong at everything and even when they are outdps its either on short fight or by not much in the junkyard 24 of djray the fire mage was at 125k dps dh at 119k and outlaw at 115k, they all get as much damage boost from the blue robot
so yeah dh is very strong
outlaw could definitly use a nerf on ace up your sleeve and pistol shot azerite trait
fire mage could definitly use a nerf on their fireblast azerite trait
but we digress this topic is only for dh you cant talk about everything at the same time, if you think other spec deserve nerf or some deserve buff feel free to do as i did : making constructive feedback on a new topic
I’m talking about pvp and pve. And there so few DH in any bracket because rerolling in this patch or this expac in general is almost impossible.
And lol@ learn how to counter. DH is nearly uncounterable. It’s only “weakness” if you want to put it that way is when you root them. But for that they usually have a healer who dispells them. Apart from that most of their spells, including interrupt, are ranged anyway so even if you root them they can still control you as long as you don’t outrange them by a large margin.
And in terms of pve. You do sht tons of dps and have a lot of utility for everyone in form of cc, grp wide def cd and auto-cleave on most abilities.
