The Dragonslayer Buff issue

I understand that back in 2004-2006 it was very reasonable to have a couple of guild coordinate for the onyxia head since it’s on a 6 hour cooldown, this would push people into talking with eachother more and it would make it so that you knew a whole other guild that maybe you wouldn’t have normally known otherwise, you would also have a couple of guilds that weren’t aware that you could bring dragonslayer into the raids.

However in this rerelease of the original game, we have a LOT more guilds that are trying to get fully buffed, trying to push logs, a lot of PuG groups that run for loot, even guild alt runs, so we have around more than triple the amount of players on a single layer, that all know what they have to do, they all try to get full world buffs, but we’re trying to keep the system as if we have only 3k players still and as if it’s still that half of them don’t know what dragonslayer even is, on certain servers, you have guilds that are popping 3 onyxia heads before the raid just to time it, else you can either have another guild that raids earlier or later pop it, or you have a random player that won the head from a PuG raid pop it, and whole guilds are getting screwed over and has to raid without the buffs that they were intending to run with.

I have yet to see a single person that raids, that likes this feature of having a 6 hour cooldown on dragonslayer, on a high + population server such as shazzrah, gehennas or mograine.

My suggestion is to just completely remove this cooldown and allowing guilds to pop the buff at will, this will only satisfy raiders and not harm the gameplay of anyone whatsoever.

My suggestion is to remove the buffs. You don’t need them to raid and if we are going to make changes, it should be to make the raids harder, not easier.

I see OP’s point but don’t think it would be a change for good as it would allow buffing up after each and every wipe.

M8, ur like level 56. Be 60 before writing this, you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about…

you don’t get infinite head buffs, plus in speed running scenarios it takes more time to get rebuffed and get back to where you were, so for someone min/maxing you don’t go back and rebuff, this has been the case on private servers, home of tryhard classic players and everyone was pretty satisfied there, especially considering there were 10-15k players on a single realm there

If you judge everybody from the character they post on then you don’t even play classic, and have no right to even post here as you’re a retail player.

You obviously don’t know what you’re talking about.

Alternative idea: no changes.

It is unfair from pushing-for-logs perspective.

Just have authentic population caps and you avoid most of the issues that occur as a result of changing a core part of the game.

go back to ur private servers #nochanges #youthinkyoudo

what is next, remove parry dodge weapon ranges and crit from pve to make it more competitive and less rng?

btw perfect time to advertise my addon: WorldBuffTracker tracks the CD for rend & ony head, requires a guildmate/you/your alt to be present (needed to avoid griefing)

Totally agree, reduce the cooldown, it so annoying when random ppl just pop their head because they want their neck and ruin it for others that actually try to push hard.

i appreciate your addon, i use it already xD but it doesn’t change that random pugs pop it or guilds pop like 3-4 ony heads for their own raid messing up other guilds going in with buffs

That wouldn’t solve the issue. Apparently 1% of guilds cleared naxx back in the days, even on overtuned private servers you could do it without worldbuffs, with warriors that exclusively use heroic strike in their dps rotation, hybrid dps and so on. Even the worst guilds will be able to clear it in 2019.

The amount of people raiding today is far greater than it was back then, reducing the CD relative to that would make sense but pandora’s box and all that ye.

I understand that you can clear everything without world buffs already, it is fairly easy, but we do have a lot of guilds that want to push logs, including for myself, push logs, get high parses and compete with others, and obviously this is impossible if i can’t get all the world buffs.

We do live in an age of time where people want to speedrun as fast as possible and see how well they can perform, it’s a min/maxing era

Aye, I think I got what you’re saying, Vrystraz. So your pledge is a pledge for the min-maxers who push the logs.

From what I’ve seen so far, I have an inkling that Blizzard will make amendments if 1) some features do not correspond to the vanilla client or 2) some features significantly affect the gameplay of many people so that they raise their voice demanding changes.

It seems the CD was in vanilla, so you’ll now have to convince enough players make Blizzard change it and thus cater for the min-maxers.

Good luck with your quest

Indeed world buffs as conceived in Vanilla were a mistake they fixed in TBC. For example the whole “tribute runs before raid” thing makes no sense. In general the way buffs stack creates a potentially huge imbalance between getting them or not, even though obviously if you die you lose them.

In my opinion certain buffs should just disappear the moment you enter an instance.

I’ve always disliked the way wbuffs work in vanilla, its just a bad feature from the game design perspective.
So yeah, for all I care they could remove them completely and I’d be fine with that. But most likely nothing will be changed.

Someone popped head at 10.00 on Firemaw so the second head got popped at 16.00 aka when a lot of people are either still at work or trying to get home, which means little to no monitoring over teamviewer etc. I wouldn’t mind as long as servers are able to make it like a flowing schedule but I guess that’s not possible at this point.

They should remove world buffs completely when you zone in instance if anything, stop whining for meaningless stuff may be ? Tryharding in 15 years old game and content for Mc especially.
