The economy is about to be nuked

Not by gold buyers, not by levellers. But, as always in Vanilla WoW… by Mages.

Whoever had the idea to buff Mage AoE going into SoD needs their head examined. Mages were already BY FAR the greatest economy class in game with AoE farm spots, AoE dungeon boosting, etc netting absolutely massive profit margins in relatively short timespans. Now at 25 they don’t even have to worry about death whilst doing it. No need to cheese anylonger, you can just facetank THE ENTIRITY OF THE WAILING CAVERNS DUNGEON, 276 mobs, including 5 bosses, and not even drop below 90% hp.

This revolution is coming very very soon. 2 days ago there was word of a single pull Wailing Caverns being very close, with a 14-18 minute timescale netting between 25-65g per pull dependent on drops. That’s just from loot from mobs, potential auctioning and vendoring of items… Now add 4 party slots worth 60k xp per run to that sold between 5-20g per slot, and Mages are on the verge of 250-400g per hour gold farms at level 25. Nobody can even get close to competing with that.
Yesterday it was pulled off multiple times on streams by mages “Testing” the pulls and perfecting it. This is dangerously close to happen.

Mages already broken the economy in Vanilla, Hardcore, Classic Era, and now they will do it in SoD unless something is very drastically changed around this absolutely insane AoE and self-heal potential. They simply cannot die.

GDKP runs are already taking over. Soon it will become mandatory to have a mage to compete economically on any level.

Dope! i guess I’ll make a mage then.

Damn the economy is in shambles because some mage is farming 10 silver greens in WC. Compare that to hunters farming 100 gold rares from lvl 30 mobs.

Same but only to undercut the other mages and create drama. >:)

Everyone gets chill 200g by simply getting to 25 and doing some quests, I make hundreds of gold without leaving the city, we have hundreds of bots swarming, but mages are a menace to economy apparently.

And that right there is the key word in your post. If you want to compete then yes, you will have to do whatever is most efficient, and if not mages then it will be some other class, like hunters, paladins or warlocks. But you see here’s the thing: you don’t have to compete. It is entirely possible to play this game - wait for it - casually.

You don’t have to be the richest person on your server, you don’t have to buy full bis in a GDKP week 1 or overpriced BOE’s on the AH. You can play the game like a normal person and still afford your consumables and enchants, raid with a guild and get your gear the old fashioned way. And you know what, if you play the game this way, it’ll almost be like those pesky mages don’t exist at all.

Heresy detected.

By bots.same as previous time

So what now? Report all mages & ask blizzard to ban mages? The GDKP strategy?

i had 2 friends lvl a mage in classic to aoe farm… Only thing they did was die trying to aoe farm

most mages cant even aoe farm… to hard for them

A warrior in my GDKP bought NON-EPIC (blue) item for 120g. Giving me a cut of total 24g. Now if you are a GDKP leader having 20% extra cut, AND have multiple chars per week. You can get 500gold per 3 days just for doing nothing. It’s already a damned economy. How can someone give 120g for a blue 25 lvl item?

Two ways to look at this thread:

:heavy_minus_sign: Please remove gold farming options. Keep people poor while ensuring they are mandated to spend, so that they are incentivized to buy gold. Restore bots as the de facto standard of generating gold.

:heavy_plus_sign: Please, keep gold making opportunities equal for everyone. Tanks and healers, dungeon dwellers and open world farmers, members of each class (spec even).

There is one method that’s equal to everyone, that a level1 can do. AH flipping. I made 200g in less than a week just standing at the AH.
If the mages are really doing 250g/h then it’s GG anyway. Gotta wait for the inflation

Is this “Mage” class you are talking about exclusive to gold sellers or can anybody pick one up and do the pulls?

Asking for a friend.

I currently make 50g+ a day from crafting. Let my character craft while I’m having breakfast, then visit the AH every now and then during the day. Maybe 30 minutes spent actively on it total. No insane strats, no flipping or other gambling, grinding or whatnot, literally just buying mats and crafting.

I made bank too like 3/4 weeks ago selling grave moss. think my druid has about 700g atm purely cause of 1 week semi afk farming. if I really want something I could easily get it like that too.

Works not on all servers. All it takes to ruin it - have 5 likeminded people doing it 24/7. Undercutting etc. So the only way to get that 50g/day easily is to buy mats REALLY cheap

Don’t mistake AH trading for Raw gold farming, one of these is positively impacting the economy.

IMO raw gold farms should be nipped in the bud, things like AoEMage1Pulls and HunterDM should be patched out.
