Greetings.
I realize that for Wrath classic 3 new servers opened for EU, Jindo, Giantstalker and Thekal, unless I’m wrong all those are very much empty these days.
I was wondering why this happened? If there is such a hype and thrill from players towards fresh servers why are all those 3 empty?
Fresh was always going to die. The dedicated players who planned to play from start to finish were ready and prepped on current servers. Those realms were for fresh enjoyers and hype followers. The very few who intended to play until the end just transferred off.

i’ll tell you what happened.
From the start, every so often, someone would go ‘oh there’s not enough people on this server, Giantstalker’s dead’. It wasn’t true, obviously, as the server always had a healthy, balanced population (more than servers back in the day) and setting up a group for anything was never an issue.
Problem is that people eventually start to believe the lie. So when Blizzard opened free transfers away from the server (and, importantly, kept the server locked for incoming transfers!!!) the self-fulfilling prophecy finally became true as people gradually transfered away over the course of a few weeks because ‘X’ left and ‘Y’ is leaving and ‘soon it’ll be impossible to do anything guys!!!’ etc.
Fast forward to now: we can still do what we want and raid on our own server. On Nethergarde Keep you get the same idiots going ‘omg server dead guys’.
It has nothing to do with people playing fresh or not. The mindset nowadays is simply “megaserver or dead” combined with putting in as little effort as possible to breeze through things as fast as possible.

I can’t speak for Thekal or Jindo but Giantstalker isn’t dead. Yes it is small but there’s a community on both Horde and Alliance sides.
Guess it depends on your opinion of dead though and what kind of experience you are after

Hello and thank you for reaching out.
Unless I’m wrong i think you are playing in Giantstalker and the same goes for @Danny i think.
Can you guys tell me more about Giantsalker and how it is over there these days? Do you guys have a working auction house?
I’ll just leave it here Ironforge. pro/population/classic/?locale=EU
Gigant Stalker - 21 recorded raider in Warcraft logs left on the realm. Either these guys are struggling without 4 people in 25 ppl raid or these are two 10ppl guilds with 1on benched rotation.
Compare it to any mediocre realm like Nethergarde keep PvE that allready has 1,5K raiders only on smaller, population wise, faction and you get the picture of how “not dead” Gigantstalker is.
I can say it because I left Chromie PvE Eu-Ru just before August 10 2022 on a wave of free transfers to Flamegor PvP Eu-Ru. The difference is staggering. Chromie had left around 400 raiders back then, but the AH was allready lacking. Only Wrath launch brought some temporary life to Chromie PvE, but now a second wave of transfers is available and it is drying up of raiders fast.
Hello there.
So you are saying that Giantstalker is in a good spot?
No. It has no perspective whatsoever. I mean it is a simple math 21 player on GigantStalker vs 1500+ (1,5K+) on Nethergarde.
Didn’t help that the mods in Thekal official discord banned people for simply talking about the population I guess.
those scrubs were 30% at fault for server dying
real pepega mods
I don’t know what’s your concept of community… lookin at stats I see 20 people, as mentioned before, are there more?
I always played on big realms, but I recently resubbed and even tho I’m still looking for a definitive realm (been a week, cant make up my mind) I find myself enjoying playing on Firemaw as H.
I logged in just to check if there was anyone around and to my surprise I found people, even while leveling, and joined a guild that raids and play together everyday.
Looking at stats i see like 100 people from a source and a bit more from another.
This is THE way to kill servers. You could have written same for RP servers. Thanks for good description.
This is the kind of feedback that makes me really undecided about joining a low pop server like HW.
One one side we have people like you that the server has no perspective, other say that the guild isn’t high pop, correct, but isn’t dead at all, that people use the auction house, they manage to have raids to to all of the content…for someone like me when we see different lines of feedback it’s hard to make a decision.
Make spy character and look with own eyes instead.
I did. People told me something different than the one mentioned above.
We all knew this was going to happen and all those realms will be totally dead yet a lot of people rolled there just to pay Blizzard 25€ for the transfer.
Well some like servers only size of biggest PvP server, no wait for dungeons and so on — if you do too, then HW not for you.
Some - like me - like small village feel of server, to know who is who in exchange for wait on dungeons — if this is more you, HW is fine.

My main is in Auberdine, a French server, people seem to be very nice there, i PAYED for my transfer there and the day i arrived i managed to get into a guild.
I just wanted to try a RP server and for Wrath the only choice i have is HW, i just want to know more before i jump in head first.
Hydraxian Waterlords (the WotLK edition, not era) is pretty nice if you don’t expect to find groups within 10 mins in LFD Finder. You are supposed to talk to people, form connections and so on.
Giantstalker is seemingly in a similar state if you just check the player count in “Who”, but be aware that many of them are HC players.
