The F'up list

So I thought I’d try to manage the big picture issues that Blizzard has messed up on in terms of Classic, so that they may learn from it.

  • Server instability, in particular related to Onyxia/WCB buff in major Cities and Large Scale world PVP - This could have been prevented by running your BETA with more people and above level 45…
  • No Progressive Itemization for PVP items. - Released in their updated forms with powerlevels higher than that available in the next content patch. There were cases to study from to prevent this.
  • No progressive itemization in general. - This hasn’t been a big deal and there’s an argument to be made that this could’ve been left as is.
  • Zero to no communication about issues with the game, service, or future plans as well as a short window of preperation prior to new content-release. (10 day warning for P2)
  • Not releasing BGs from the start, and also most likely releasing the mega-boring and mega-nerfed version of AV.
  • Altering Respawns of resources to 1-layer respawn prior to the reduction of layers to only 1 layer on certain servers. Also, did not adress known ways of duping valuable resources (devilsaur leather).
  • Spell batching window is still huge and feels bad - no tuning so far.
  • Raid XP multiplier bug during initial leveling.
  • The whole aura issue that kept lowering the buffcap…
  • Ongoing issues with honor-calculation…

These are the big ones that I can think of, feel free to post yours down below and I’ll try to edit the list every now and then…

You mean exactly what PVP’ers have been crying for, since BGs were introduced 16 years ago? Over and over we’ve had to listen to how BGs ruined WPVP and how Blizzard were stupid for ever implementing them.

You mean the original version that every BG player have been begging for, and telling stories about, ever since it was removed?

What exactly did you need to prepare? People had been crying for P2 for over a month at that point. Unless you were glacially slow, you’d be close to max level already, and if you were playing at glacial levels you probably wouldn’t be in any rush to do P2 content either.

You sound like Blizzard actually cared about any of those things. They knew things were going to run sub-optimal, but sub-optimal is good enough for what Classic is.

that’s just brutal

But its the truth. Blizzard has nothing to gain from Classic long-term. Its a nice short-term burst of activity and revenue and you dont usually invest much money in short-term business.

At the same time, everyone was extremely aware that the current state of the game with everyone getting corpsecamped and people quitting would be the end result of that decision.

No, I am refering to the version that they are releasing now, with no mines, no turn-in quests, no elite bowmen etc which will make long AVs rather impossible and super boring - very close to current retail versions of AV.

Introducing 1.12 itemization in earlier content is a change.

Well prior to p2 announce you had 2 options, level a 2nd 60 alt or farm gold and prep cons for p2. Wether or not you thought P2 was comming fast or not was the deciding factor in which of those 2 things you did. An advance warning would help inform that decision better.
