OK, hear me out - any and every activity in WoW is currently designed in such a way that you spend more time doing literally nothing, i.e. waiting, rather than actually “playing”
Let’s start from raids and PvP - to get a group you spend usually more time making the group or applying to a group in LFM than you actually spend killing things.
Don’t let me start how long running after wipes is in raids this xpac xD
People in PvP whine they spend 2 hours in LFM without finding anyone. This is not gameplay… It’s poorly designed system of finding people to play.
Then we have rares - in Legion we had insta-respawn rares you could kill once a day and just do your tour of duty. That was too comfortable I guess so now if you need a specific rare you have to wait and wait and wait… doing nothing. Even as dumb thing as Consumption - even after it spawns… you have to wait for stacks xD
Then we have such small things like quests - any time there is a daily in Korthia that makes you kill things for stuff… the area is wiped out and people are just standing there waiting for respawns that take ridiculously long.
Then there is a quest “Local reagents” that barely has any appropriate NPCs with low drop rates so you end up standing in one spot waiting for respawns.
It’s all about waiting. They can’t come up with enough content so it’s all about waiting. Zones get smaller every xpac and to make them feel bigger they make it less convenient to travel. Bastion for non-kyrians before flying had a nightmarish number of flight points and obnoxious hills… travelling there was awful. And of course they removed the flight master’s whistle so you don’t save time to get to a flight point?
Ember court? Anyone who has done this RSVP quest for Droman Aliothe knows what I’m about here - that RSVP was literally half an hour of waiting on flight paths before they nerfed it.
And don’t make me start on covenant renown catch up… while not waiting per sse, it’s some of the worst grind they introduced… repeating runs of plaguefall normal dungeon over and over and over just to get to a playable level?
This is all just stupid. Waiting for respawns or for groups isn’t any sort of gameplay. Soloqueue for M+ or PvP should be introduced. Respawn times reduced because waiting for respawns isn’t “immersive” or “fun”…
you’ve successfully identified about 50% of the issue. PvE games have low replay value so devs draw out the content with RNG/grind/time gating, while in games like LoL or counter strike people have played on the same map for 10 years.
ofc blizz could just allow people to “finish” an expansion in a few months but their marketing team might have a word or two about that.
The theatre of pain is a no brainer, since Maldraxxus is about fighting
Maaaaaaybe the Path of Ascension ‘arena’ for a Kyrian themed
But even tho at the mission table Lord Herne is traning the Vorkai and a few Sylvar… there is not much there. But I guess the Wild Hunt is a strong tradition/organization, so… maybe? Just we not seen their traning. But the starlight amphitheater could be used?
The Venthyr are a tricky one! They have duelists (both pistols, seen in the WQ and with the sword) and Duelmaster Rowyn have a nice little “arena” near Dominance Gate
So…
…could work?
without any real work, they could add arenas
right.
if youre doing nothing, why are you playing the game and paying for the right to do so?
if you dont want to spend time applying, set your own group.
the game cant be blamed for people not signing up to do things, thats the players.
rares are called rares for a reason. They should be rare … and in legion, everyone was complaining that the respawn rate was too quick.
never once have i been waiting for mobs to spawn, pushed 46 alts through korthia and i have never ever once ever been waiting for mobs to spawn.
the reason korthia is small (and thank the gods it is) is because people were sick and tired running a half marathon to get a mob then run a half marathon to hand it in. Same with nadjatar, nice and small. You just have to learn where the gaps through the hills are but i will grant you, bastion, mald and reven are horrid to get around. Even alden is a pain. Who wants a dull flat place to adventure in though.
all rpgs have grind, its how the game type works.
respawns isnt an issue in any way. cant you queue for pvp solo? maybe im wrong here, i dont pvp. Qing for m+? how on earth could you evaluate people to assign them what levels they could go? i couldnt do +7 for my life, 223 fire mage. How would you adjudicate whos got enough addons, macros, who will drink pots and who wont, who can actually play versus who just bought afk boosts. reputation is necessary for m+. You can Q for m0 and thats the way it should be.
Yet again, ive never ever had an issue with respawn rates … maybe your server is jam packed with players and you need to move to another server if this is such a massive problem for you.
Korthia is obviously designed around increasing players’ time spend in the game. Some see through their obnoxious designs that is aimed at increasing this particular metric and leave the game, some see it but still do it, some are completely blind do it.
I personally have realized it as well and its the reason why I am not subbed at the moment.
I see the issue every time the daily is up and these are cross realm zones. Maybe you play on a dead server.
Wasting time while actually doing some in-game activity would be fine. Wasting for WAITING is not
WHO ON EARTH COMPLAINED ABOUT QUICK RESPAWN RATE? HOLY …
I don’t believe it. It was a good way to let anyone kill rares without spending time waiting. it was a good design. Camping isn’t gameplay.
I would be okay with such timegating if you could spend time having fun in the meanwhile.
Blizzard’s idea of ‘‘gameplay’’ isn’t fun to me.
Doing maw quest without mount/skip for 1000 times? No thanks
Doing choregast in new patch for the NEW but SAME legendaries? no thanks
Grinding korthia rares with 0.1% drop rate on mounts? No thanks
casual pvp and pve (random lfg/bg from 10-40 ) is literally the best part of the game right now.
everyone was because when you took time to kill an elite, many people were dying when it respawned on top of them as they were adjusting their new loot etc. i, myself, even complained about it and it was changed. Holy … yourelf.
WoW is a living proof that when you make a successful product and make a lot of money you stop trying to make it better and start thinking how to make even more money from it while reducing the costs and lowering expectations. MMOs have a thing to it they can retain players because of their social circles and bind them with their own invested time and money. If it wouldn’t be the case we would have flying cars in wow by now.
All Korthia mounts have a fair drop chance (around 2-5) and the spawn times are OK, maybe Konth is the only annoying one since it’s abit RNG. Otherwise this is a huge improvement over Mechagon / Nazjatar if you ask me.
