thats the best come back ever when someone critiques something
“hurr durr well you make better stuff hurr durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr”
If you would make dinner to people and you see that food causes them to vomit and crap all over the place would you
A) keep doing the 100% same food
or
B) change what you are doing?
Its not hard to listen to the feedback and adjust what you do accordingly, it does mean you have to go to forums and take every single feedback literally and make them happen, that would cause biggest crap show ever, but you can and have to listen to the feedback what people give you to improve yourself.
And I am 100% sure that the people at blizzard who make stuff would want to make better things, but they are told by some evil entity to keep churning out poop after poop, because they cant be that stubborn and idiotic to keep hitting their heads to wall all the time and hope the bad decisions will magically turn good
This is a thing in every single type of “news” fields, people are attracted to drama and bad events.
It’s not really streamers that do that, it’s the watching base that prefer dramas.
???
They need to act in a certain way due to being watched by ton of people and hater ready to try and destroy their work on every step they take.
That is not true at all lol.
Obviously if you listen to 10 people that play the same game at the same skill level, the chance their view on a specific thing will be pretty similar regarding the game.
In-game impact is a thing though and those that are negatively affected by it are understandably not keen on streamers. For instance, when Classic launched there was a streamer who unknown to me played on the same realm I did. When the Southshore pvp event started they had so many followers appear with them it lagged out the entire zone.
For some time it was virtually impossible to get out of Undercity the lag was that bad. Now of course that’s arguably the fault of the followers however they wouldn’t have been there if it wasn’t for that streamer.
Personally I’ve no issue with streamers on the whole and indeed have gotten some useful tips from them over the years. I agree with their views on some things, disagree with others and generally they have little bearing on anything I do. Some are more entertaining than others and that’s kind of the point. Their content and demeanour plays to the crowd as that affects their income. Years back I couldn’t stand Asmon but I’ve warmed to him these days. I wouldn’t head to his channel for gameplay advice when we had the likes of Preach and if I wanted a take on something lore related I’d probably head for Bellular. Each has a purpose and if you don’t follow any it won’t make any difference to how you play the game unless you occupy the same in-game space.
I think the problem with the meta-hobby is that people go to forums thinking “la la la, lets talk about my favorite game*”. And then its just wall to wall “did you see what streamer X said?”
*Unclear based on these forums that’s WoW for anyone - but you get the idea.
It would be like if you wanted to talk about football - but other people, who are on a football forum, only want to talk about this or that pundit/commentator. Its similar but different.
i love them all, and love the honest ones the most. nothing like watching a paid actor with a twisted face claiming to love a game he hates. such endlessly positive streamers, who behave much like this forum claming blizzard never does wrong and every patch note is a blessing…
The game is in decline because of ppl here on forum claming all to be fine, while some brave souls try to explain whats wrong while getting mocked to death, by endless positivity.
Bellular even said that he posts negative videos because it gets him more revenue and when he addressed the accusations that he’s just overall toxic he said something like: “yeah, so what, I do whatever the fk I want on my channel”.
People bashing content creators right now forget that:
Those content creators make a living as game experts, whose public reputation is the foundation of their career. Work ethics, moral guidelines and professionality are as important to them as said virtues should be for Blizzard. If a contract partner (and Blizzard is their contractor, because the company pays many of them to promote their game) doesn’t stand for the same virtues and values as me, I end the collaboration. For it is my reputation and job at stake if my contract partner screws up.
Content creators are digital artists and want to feel appreciated for and fulfilled by the work they do. An artist can only create great art, may it be a text, a song, a picture or a video, if he’s 100 % convinced of and passionate about what he / she / it is doing. If not, the quality of your art will only ever equal the reduced percentage of conviction and passion you put in. Most streamers have been telling Blizzard for YEARS that the game keeps on killing their passion for producing good content. They felt like selling a product they’re not fully convinced of anymore themselves. Which also can be quite an abusive feeling at times btw. And with the current lawsuit in the room, many content creators simply decided that this is the point where they aren’t willing anymore to go against their own ideals, convictions and values just to get paid by Blizzard.
Every game content creator is also a game investor in the end. They invest time, creativity and studying / research into their content production, sometimes even travel on their own budget or buy work material like pc equip, software, cameras, studio tools etc. on their own in order to make a living from it. And they do what every investor does when promoting a product threatens to ruin their business. They stop to invest.
I have a feeling critics about these reasonable decisions can only ever come from people, who have no idea whatsoever about how either the adult world or the world of work… works… Because every person having a job or even owns a company themselves perfectly understands the content creators’ decision. They’re not the captains of this sinking ship that is Activision Blizzard at the moment. They tried to save the company’s a** for long enough while struggling with their own conscience. If anyone is entitled to finally scream “ENOUGH!”, it’s them.
Never understood the hate either.
I dared to mention a youtuber in a post once and got pounced upon as if I was the vilest piece of slime to ever slither out from under a rock in the history of the universe.
Has to be said the only reason I have any grasp of what passes just now for story is thanks to Belluar and Taliesen.
The fact that these people can put together some entertaining videos and still make a living out of it boggles my mind sometimes so I say fair play to them.
Who’s saying Madseason is bad or Savix, but the other creators really does put some salt into vinegar. One of the most positive ones are Bajheera, Xaryu. I’m also hitting gym time to time and i like how they see many positive things in game. It’s about the view how some creators see game now.
