The Hidden Addon Ban Blizzard hasnt openly talked about

Sure bad example but you understand what i mean :joy:

Errr… it was?

Okay, the problem with Classic WoW is that it’s solved. Nobody needs to ask where Mankrik’s wife is, nobody needs to to ask how to get to Molten Core, nobody needs to figure out how to play, nobody needs to work out the meta.

If you look at places that shall not be named this phenomenon simply does not manifest.

Well, yes - but actually no.

You should be able to see all those important things. But you often can’t, so I see what you mean. But also, I don’t think that’s the issue you think it is. I think it’s a different issue regarding the readability of combat.

Simply removing spells helps here, but the problem is quite a lot bigger and it’s going to cause some grief for Midnight for sure - unless Blizzard is prepared to sort it out. I have some hope in this regard because it was explicitly mentioned what they’ll have to do in their blog post about the combat overhaul.

Now, we as the community can only manipulate the UI and so that’s how we sorted it, but there’s a better way only Blizzard can do - and the ball is now firmly in their court…

Cannot wait for midnight beta so i can verify what works and what does not work, all i want is ability to track my own buffs have TTS cues for those either based on it being off cooldown as i enter combat triggering TTS message, or TTS mesage when some buff is gained or lost.

Like casting avenger shield gives parry buff have a TTS when it expires, consecration when lost have sound cue, even custom sound cue like my own sounds.

Or a bar that shows shield of righteous duration etc these are all things i track, if i cannot track these then you making me look at a tiny buff bar with irrelevant buffs distracting me so much to a point i cannot focus on more important tasks, while i could have just TTS cues on these or a bar showing duration.

But all means if everyone thinks making tanking harder is the solution good luck finding tanks for m+ next expansion i probably just switch back to maining only dps again, not even gonna bother healing either as it will be more boring with them pruning everything again.

Keep watching the alpha forums/blueposts and/or the WoW addons dev’s discord to keep track on what is changing during alpha.
There will be a lot of broken things fixed before beta.

I rather go see for my self so i can adapt as launch comes, like i previously said i need tts cues to keep track of defenses and stuff or game becomes more frustrating then fun to play, at that point i may as well give up playing tank, i also like to set my own custom sound effect not preset of sound effects, i want as much customization as weak auras allows for tracking my own buffs and debuffs.

If i have to keep track of a tiny bar of icons in top right corner to do that i will just be distracted by either the swirly overload they put me thru or to distracted to keep track of whats happening that is why i use TTS cues.

Remember encounters will be toned down to adjust to the removal of weak auras and the likes.
Those addons were the sole reason encounters got bloated with “swirlies” and such, not the other way around.

TTS should not be affected at the end of the day. Should

Its not about encounter difficulty its about tracking defensives buffs that require 100% up time or you just die, having a sound cue for when those defensives about to fade or fade is useful.

As tank you not just tracking 1 defensive buff sometimes you have to keep of 3 at same time while also focusing on mechanics it just becomes to much visually so you have sound cue’s instead while you can focus visually on visual mechanics like swirly’s.

My eyes can only focus 1 place at a time, while i can hear and see at same time.

DBM can easily be replaced by having bosses shout their abilities which already happen or either a sound cue so its not like you cannot play the game with dbm.

But these do not happen for defensive by default, yet these defensive fading can make the difference in you dying on a big pull or staying alive, i am not pushing low keys where these things do not matter like a +12

Clarification:
Toned down encounters does not mean reduced difficulty.
What it means is smiply that all those buffs, debuffs, AoE effects and the likes get immensly reduced as they are no longer needed in those amounts due to those addons being removed.
As mentioned: The ammount of buffs, debuffs, AoE effects, etc. sprilad up as much as they did because fo those addons. Those addons forced the encounter designers to add more and more and more of those effects.

You very likely will be fine.

they always said from the start that Interface addons would also be Disabled so dont tell BS, also outdated UI thats not true tbh

They (Blizzard) will surely refine their limitations over time to allow for custom visual addons still being an option.

It’s just very likely that, due to the addons being allowed for almost all of WoWs lifetime, those frames and functionalities have never been fully separated in the code. And once that is, it is quite likely that visual addons still can make a return without affecting combat.

No more vuhdo and I’m out.

I have already gone back to wow classic vanilla anniversary version .so i dont have to worry about addon mess that retail is making for atleast next 10 expansions of that iteration .

Addon ban makes no sense for most addons, weakauras is just mixed bag their are legit reasons to disallow stuff that weakauras allow, but self tracking stuff is not one of those reasons, i wish they would hire the addon dev from weakauras to improve their own version, so we least get to keep the good part of weak auras that should not be banned.

If you think the default UI is not oudated, then I genuinely dont know what to tell you, you might be stuck in the past 20 years.

Oh wait that’s still where we are now.
