I am sometimes glad that I try not to pug a lot.
Honestly, good luck with the
LFM 1 ranged for X
Ok, inv my shadow priest.
Nop, declined!
Why? It was S tier last week!
Well its B tier this week, arcane mage is S tier this week. So bye bye.
Your average pug in 12-14 range will only look at “S tier classes” and MAYBE some A tier classes. The rest can go… you get the message. Doesnt matter that the number difference between S and C is max 5%…
Edit:
Dont overestimate your average pug brain logic: “S tier or bust”…they wont even try to understand that a good B tier player could be even better than an average S tierer…
Remeber this already happened to Arcane mage this season it was B tier one week then suddenly S tier and it was a buff to Arcane that did make it go above Fire
oh I remember, I stopped getting “Why y no fire? #Kicked from group” in the pugs I joined.
Used to pug a lot back then…and feels like I pugged way too much for my mental health…
Except that SP is getting denied every single week. Every week. For the whole season.
Of course people will abuse it. Never denied it. But that SP player right now has a choice. Have to suffer through that every week for the whole season (and maybe next season too)… or reroll mage/dudu.
Or… keep playing SP but only have to endure it for 1 or 2 weeks every season.
Sounds like a win to me. Especially because that is exactly what they did in S1 of DF. And it worked.
You will have to remind me with exact links cause maybe I am just old or something but I dont remember Blizzard doing hotfixes like every freaking week for class balance.
…and I dont mean it as a sarcasm. I literarly got a lot of stuff to think and worry about in real life that I dont have the capacity to remember what the blue tracker looked like some months ago.
If you remember, RDruid and PEvoker were the only ones with the HPS necessary to heal through high keys. And they immediately reworked all the other specs to they could meet those HPS demands. Including adding talents to RShaman and things like that.
And that is just the healer situation. DDs got that treatment as well.
This season they are simply refusing to touch anything. And they have refused to do so for 6 seasons in a row.
Cant comment there since I played as a dps and casually as tank. Last time I played as a healer was back in BfA.
Didnt realy feel like it. Every spec had its “Best spec for M+” at least for mage and rogue, the classes I played. For mage it was frost…with an occasinal arcane mage…fire was bad if I remember correctly and for rogue it was assasin all the way.
For tanks it was protadin all the way versus DH now…
P.s This is coming from a casual Joe like me viewpoint who only see whats happening around their classes. I didnt spend my time analyzing and researching M+ scene on some theory crafter or analytic level.
Also I didnt rely on pugging alone. If pugs didnt like my class, I did m+ with my guild or community, if pugs wanted my class/spec I sometimes did it with pugs. So the meta didnt really affect me that much hence I didnt spend much time researching it. Ofc I would still feel its effects while pugging, hence could eventually find out whats meta and whats off-meta.
We ran into a complete brickwall on the raging tempest with a holy priest as our healer when I was tanking in season 1, I didn’t heal because holy priest was so bad. She just couldn’t heal it, no matter what, holy priests healing was really, really bad until several weeks into the season and several buffs.
Likewise, the 1st boss in the halls of valor dungeon was straight up unhealable until they had buffed holy priest several times and it still struggled until they nerfed the dungeon because holy priest had no aoe healing.
However, that meta is so overpowerd that it “contaminated” every single key level up to a +15. Taking in mind that the maximum key level was 33 in that season. At today’s level that would be a +5. The reason: not running that meta was literally wanting to be 50% less performant.
That was a super extreme scenario. But that showed me that behind the idiocy of “meta slaves” there is some truth behind it. And that while S2 was an extreme case, there can be “gray zones” when comps are too powerful.
Which is what happened later in S3 and S4 of DF were they were also dominated by a single comp. And what happened there was lack of tuning for 8 months. It became stale. So the meta comp started to slowly creep up to lower key levels as well.
And I kind of lived through all that. In S2 when the god comp came in, my M+ fun stopped. Instantly. Because all of a sudden nobody wanted to play anything but the meta comp. Nobody wanted to even join my keys.
And in S3 and S4 of DF. They started OK. But I hit a brick wall not because I lacked the skill. But because the lack of players willing to play an off meta spec. And I see this in TWW S2.
So based on the results of DF. I can only see a repeating of the same events. And that is why I want whatever they did in S1 DF back.
99% of people responding are blizzard shills with Stockholm syndrome and/or casuals with 0 critical thinking skills.
This argument “meta will always exist so lets not do any balance tuning” is beyond stupidity and I’m not even mad anymore.
The only person with good arguments here (except “priory is not random” i still remember it). Please keep on educating these players, maybe it will change their minds someday. I already quit this trash game when udk is still broken and fury is dogwater and don’t have energy to fight, feeling like Oogway.
Well I rather meant bootlickers. Lets make m+ balance so that difference between worst and best specs is less than 30% and we can discuss not only dental coverage, but also once a year free full body scan package “healthy gamer 30+”.
But wow is extremely balanced as a game. The class representation for top end is indicative of player perception, not actual balance
For example Arms and Fury could be the same, but if someone thought Arms is 0.5% better, then all the tryhard players would play arms, and everyone would be thinking fury was terrible, even if the difference was within measuring error tolerance.
And how would you do that? Since M tiers are decided not simply by raw dps alone but its utility, how the class actually works and etc.
Want your perfect balance? Ok 3 classes = 1 tank class(called tank), 1 healer class(called healer) and 1 dps class(called dps). And here you go, perfect balance.
The moment you start creating different classes with their strenghts and weakneses then we will immediately get tier lists cause 1 class can perform better/provide better utility than the other.
But nah…thats me “bootlicking” am I right?
We need the PERFECT balance! NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!
The problem is the performance of each class-spec .
I can complete fair enough a 10-12 with my Hunter ~
I can complete fair enough a 13-15 with my Dk .
If you look at the performance of let’s say those classes-specs is quite huge. I always find my Dk being over the top while Hunter is bottom.
Even looking on details-scores on dmg i’m like 20% and even 30% higher than my Hunter.
We are talking about huge difference .
Not only that but this create another problem. With the meta comp you can prioritize and even change the pulls-route that results in a wining .
My hunter…Multishoot apply buff for the main aoe-spender (5 Targets…) Rapid fire again …3 target with the buff…
With my dk …i press 1 button and just watching number pumping .
