So why not give those an extra heal class too. I can’t see why LFD or Nightborne can’t be monks. Yes some more lore would probably need to be added for it. Forsaken already have something going with Calia Menethil so perhaps they could get light bound customization and become Paladins in the future. My issue is that we are not secondary to our core races, allied races have equal value and therefore should have equal access to those classes.
We’ve come up with some sick void forms as reused assets with my friends ill try and share them in here later! Especially the balance, guardian and feral ones are awesome!
Nightborne can be Monks.
They can’t be Druids, Paladins or Shamans.
And as a Nightborne fan - none of these classes are a big thing within their society. An argument can be made for Nightborne Druids, but it’s not some shining aspect of the Nightborne culture. It’s a very “Arcane Magic” way to do Druidism, which could work…but for a race that is based solely on the Arcane and gives off the “Highborne” vibe - it’s a bit off, for me.
But let’s think about this, in terms of the overall lore and I will use the forthcoming Sin’dorei story in 9.2.5.
The core of the overall heritage questline has involved the Farstriders, Magisters and Blood Knights. The latter being the core of this new quest. When the chips are truly down, I personally see that we have no need for Blood Elf Shamans or Blood Elf Druids, because the epic-ness that is the Sin’dorei story, comes from their Magisters, Blood Knights and Farstriders. Less has become more. Less classes, but more detailed story.
Lets say the Void Elves got something similiar. Now, brainstorming - Void Elves find a way to enter AU Draenor and they go into combat with the Lightbound. The alliance side - we do see a renewed Thalassian Elf vs Draenei, but with a different twist. So, who would be at the front and centre? Alleria, for the Void Elf Farstrider force and Umbric, for the Void Elf Magister force. I’d also say that Blizzard should introduce a character who encompasses all what it means to be a Void Knight (Void Elf Warrior.)
When the chips are truly down, it’s these areas that will make us proud of the race. The first two are the core areas of Ren’dorei life, so to see them in full action (plus additional lore for the Void Elf Warriors), we can see a perfect contrast between Sin’dorei and Ren’dorei.
Indeed, I don’t think Sin’dorei Warrior lore needs to be expanded, because the Ren’dorei could and should easily take that within the “Void Knight.” Void Elf Warrior vs Blood Elf Paladin is a perfect contrast.
I would rather have less areas, but have those areas truly expanded and given their due. We see that less is more with the Sin’dorei sectors. We don’t need Blood Elf Warlocks, Warriors and Rogues to be part of the epic story that we see coming from the Blood Knights, Magisters and Farstriders.
EDIT: I hear what your saying that we’re not secondary and we’re not, but we don’t play races that give us the full package of Darnassian Elves and Thalassian Elves. I won’t lie to you and try and make out that Nightborne Rogues, Hunters and Warriors are a grand part of the Nightborne Sentinel/Duskwatch force and make them something bigger than what they are. Nor will I try and preach (pun intended), that Nightborne Priests are a large part of the Shal’dorei society. Now, Blizzard did come up with the idea that Nightborne Priests could serve as Chronomancers (using arcane time magic to reverse wounds), but it’s hardly made an impact and I don’t think it’s even confirmed.
We can go back and forth on this, but you and I, as well as the other Nightborne and Void Elf fans - we’re all in the same boat. We’re not secondary, but we don’t give the full Darnassian and Thalassian package and that’s ok. I’d say, add Demon Hunters because that class should remain an Elf thing.
My issue with Void elves getting a Void Knight skin for warriors is that warriors cannot heal. It beats the purpose of the request which is for an other healing class.
I see things more from a practical, fun perspective than from a lore perspective. I’ve played Draenei and LFD for a total of 8 years. I don’t like the Human rig. That means that for a player like me, I’d either need to switch faction to enjoy playing a Paladin or shaman, or stick with the same races I’ve been playing for the last 10 years or so. For new players it may be fine to restrict them to specific races, but what about the Veteran player base that wants a change? This reasoning might not resonate with people who are lore-rigid, but it’s a valid reason nonetheless.
At least with 9.2.5 I could play my dear Blood elf Paladin that I have since TBC and still play with my husband and friends. But this is not something we were able to do since the dawn of the game.
Why not go for the full-savage side of the Thalassian Warriors in the Void Elves? So what if they kill without remorse…not only does this contrast to the Blood Elf Paladin, but their are similiarties between them and their kaldorei sentinel allies.
Again, I see no need for Blood Elf Warrior lore progression. Not when we have something in the Void Elf Warrior that can be far more entertaining which contrasts to the blood elves, but holds something similar to their night elf allies.
I am lore rigid across the board, even for races I love.
As far as the new blood elf story goes, as somebody who is a huge blood elf fangirl, I know, in my heart of hearts, that for lore progression - we don’t need Shamans and Druids.
Excitement is driven when we see the Grand Magister Rommath, the Matriarch of the Blood Knights, Liadrin and (lack of this time, but still counts), the Ranger General of Quel’Thalas, Halduron Brightwing.
Customizations add sub-races without lore explanations, they could also add new classes the same way.
I think high elf paladins for void elves and wildhammer druids for bronzebeard dwarves for example are possible because Blizzard is starting to change their mindset.
Millenium : “Are the Void Elves destined to be Paladins one day since they can now have the appearance of High Elves ?”
Ion Hazzikostas : “I think there are elements, besides their hair color, that would make Void Elves unpopular Paladins by their order. However, race/class associations are something the team at development is actively discussing. We’re getting lots of feedback, lots of requests, and while some combinations might seem more complex than others, we think anything is possible. So we don’t want to close the doors of a certain class to a given race. We don’t have anything to announce specifically for Eternity’s End, but it’s something we discuss a lot.”
Why has it taken them 4+ years to not yet add in Night Elf Paladin?
I don’t think such ideas are as discussed as we might think. I mean, Night Elf Paladins were mentioned all the way through, from 7.0 with more serious talk of them in 8.1 and then flickering on and off ever since.
Shouldn’t the whole “Night Warrior” have brought in Night Elf Paladins, if nothing else?
Well I can somewhat understand why they weren’t added in Legion due to Night Elves having restrict access to Demon Hunter, but still - at the very least, 8.1 should have made Night Elf Paladins playable as they would have fitted with the Night Warrior arc.
No Night elves should not get Paladins while Void elves and Nightborne can’t be DHs or Druids or Paladins or anything. It’s like telling the playerbase here you go the only popular race you should play are Night elf, Blood elf and Human welcome to the World of Warcraft.
I am usually on your side but tbh we have had a lot for velfs recently a lot more than nelfs and people have been asking since Legion and before Velfs for Nelf paladins.
People asking for more Velf love are now at this point being greedy sorry to say.
We need races from classic to get heritge and updates in my view please stop asking for so much for 1 race.
I’m sorry that you are in disagreement with me on this, but not everyone can agree with everything and that’s OK.
I’m not sure what your general stances are on Void elves and if I’m speaking with an anti or a pro here so I will be very careful with what I say.
Night Elves can be Demon Hunters and Druids. I DO NOT MIND, in fact I SUPPORT Night elves getting Paladin, as long as people do not come to bash our requests for Void Elves and say we can’t be anything while THEY PREACH for classes for OTHER RACES. Have I made myself clear now?
Void Elves where initially planned to receive ONLY EAR SIZES. It was after incredible toil and sweat that we managed to get those hair colours for everyone.
I am hurt you do not remember me standing with you asking for more VELF cosmectics how can i be anti when main is one Only have to scroll through the thread …
Ah crap I’m sorry it has been so many months I’m losing memory of whose with me and who’s not. I apologise for saying I don’t know your general stances. There’re so many attacks that sometimes it’s hard to let your guard down on these forums
My understanding is that you love Night elves as well, and I have always supported them getting Paladins and even a Moon Knight skin to go along with that. But the poster above was saying we should get Night elf Palas but was not supporting anything for the Void elves, so ofc it tilted me a bit but what can we do some people are strict with lore and only want to go by what lore definitely states.
What counts against you is that night elf paladin NPCs are in game.
Void Elf and Nightborne Druid/Paladin are not.
One stage at a time - Void Elf and Nightborne Demon Hunters are made playable at the same time as Night Elf Paladin. Hearthstone has introduced a Void Elf and Nightborne Demon Hunter card, I believe.
I’m a big Blood Elf fan, and I’m not even suggesting any new classes for them. Their lore in the next patch is justification for no new classes.
It goes without saying that Night Elf Paladin Saber Mounts would look dope as insert word
The only thing that I question for the Void Elves and Nightborne is:
What would their starter zone be? Part of the Demon Hunter experience was choosing between Kane or Altrius. How would that work?
Would Void Elves and Nightborne get a starter zone or would they meet with Kor’vas who has just one quest for them, on the Fel Hammer, where they choose between Kane and Altrius.
I’d go with that. Now that the Legion is defeated, there is good chance DHs would not seize their efforts but rather adopt a new goal, that of defending Azeroth against other great evils that are growing stronger in time.
Also why not throw Draenei and Orc DHs in there while they’re at it. We see the Eredar and the Fel Orcs in Legion and TBC, directly involved in these fights, and now that Sargeras is destroyed there’s a chance they would follow the victor rather than continue to exist in anarchy.
While I personally got no issue with that I know some people who would love Draenei and Orc DHs. Albeit Draenei already can be shamans and paladins but hey ho.
I can definitely see how more Class/ Race combos would be beneficial in the practical sense though and for keeping players entertained. But probably not class/ race combos that make absolutely zero sense. Some uniqueness maintains flavour
And class skins need to become a thing, more money for them through just re-colouring abilities
