The latest patch is crashing video cards

New patch today and still broken for me on dx12 with not surprisingly no mention of this in the 2nd September Hot Fix notes.

Still works for me using dx11 as far as I can tell.

Current client version 11.2.0.62958

Still not resolved. Nothing I’ve tried makes a difference. Sometimes the issue doesn’t appear for a week, then it shows up two days in a row. Completely random. At this point it seems unlikely Blizzard will address it, so the only hope is that NVIDIA or Microsoft eventually fix it.

You’ve probably tried this and are fed up of people suggesting things but others are saying to use dx11 from the launch string I didn’t do this I changed it using the in game options, which may just do the same, and nothing else other than the latest drivers.

I also use Nvidia and Windows11, I know no 2 PCs are identical, but if you haven’t then it may be worth one last try.

Good Luck

Yes I have no issues on dx11, but I refuse to use it in 2025. I’d rather use dx12 and have this issue tbh. Its not game breaking for me yet, I see it happen once a day and then it will not happen for a couple of days sometimes even a week. Its completely random.

Sometimes the nvlddmkm error 153 would silently be logged in the event viewer while I fail to notice anything in-game as it runs normally. Sometimes the game would freeze then minimize and re-open while render everything again, this is where I know the 153 nvlddmkm error happens. Super weird.

It’s almost unplayable for me on dx12 so I have to use dx11.

I keep raising bug reports after each major patch, not all as they might ban me, as a poke in the ribs to remind them. As the US is also complaining hopefully they’ll get it fixed but I’m not so naĆÆve as to think it will be any time soon.

The lack of even a ā€˜yes we are looking into it’ from them is shameful.

*** Just updated Nvidia driver to 581.15 from 28/08/2015 but no change ***

Having similar problems, usually in a city or garrison. Game freezes for a few seconds then all, then everything that’s not background scenery (ie, ground, walls, grass…) disappears then all characters/pets/mounts start to appear redrawn in layers.

And that’s the Part where the false-Information about die MS SSD-Bug spreads.
You can only uninstall the Security Updates (ending with 78 and 60, any of those enabled the feature), but you can’t uninstall the Cumulative Update, which rolls out the feature.

If your system ever had the security update installed, your System is screwed until MS finally fixed it and/or you setup your PC again and avoid installing the 60/78 Update.

Yeah, sorry about that, that was my bad. Although not entirely. That’s still how it presented itself in the original reporting, but was later replicated with the feature update which can’t be uninstalled. So right now there are two ways it has been reported: One due to the security update identified as causing it, and the other due to the feature update identified as causing it. One you can do targeted uninstall for, the other requires a complete wipe of the OS.

As for ā€œuntil MS finally fixed itā€, they have yet to admit there is such a problem. It’s not unheard of for them to do that while also working on a fix at the same time, but it’s not a good sign either way.

5 freezing moments for me in 2 keys. I cost my group the timer because of it.

Still no blue response to this?

I keep getting the graphics unload, goes black with just names showing,.loads in green then finally back to normal. Sometimes it just crashes back to desktop and yesterday it even froze my pc for the first time.

Dx11 didn’t make any difference.

Wonderful solution, considering at least half of the player base is still running Win10 and support being dropped within the month

I’m glad I’m not alone. I’ve noticed the stuttering and flickering when I had to visit Nagrand due to the economical succession quest. When I returned to Karesh I couldn’t see through the dome cause it was covered in black particles, never seen anything like it so I was afraid my gpu was dying. Updated all the drivers, didn’t help so I started playing with the graphics settings. I always turn the shadow quality to low but funnily enough when I turn it to good, all the stutter and flicker went away. Went back to Nagrand, everything was spotless. Honestly this is the weirdest graphics glitch I’ve ever seen in WoW.

Going on two months and nothing has been done about this or any other technical problem.

Currently there are no improvements on the Legion Remix version version of the game.

September Cumulative Update from Microsoft did not fix the issue, knowing how slow Nvidia are with fixing issue via drivers we’re likely not getting any fixes soon UNLESS Blizzard does something.

Getting massive FPS drops and spikes… I was playing around with the settings and when I turned down the shadows (I was doing performance and frame comparison), I almost got a blue screen and on the error logs, stated I had hardware failures…
Ive had alot of problems with the GPU anyways, but WoW right now has totaly :skull_and_crossbones:
Its still under warranty so its going back… 4080s by the way…

Can’t expect microsoft to correct their mistake and even if they do so half of the player base will still be stuck with the problem because they’re playing on windows 10, which is losing support any moment now.

Given how detailed their patch notes are I don’t believe anyone even remembers what they may have done wrong that had broken the game in some many ways.

Communication towards the player base is non existent and I can’t imagine them sharing information internally which is why nothing is being done. I’ve seen KNOWN ISSUES articles opened over much smaller problems, but not for this.

Me and thousands of other players are using the same machine, drivers and OS as we did near the end of June, where we can point out the exact patch day maintenance which had started causing different kinds of issues ALL AT ONCE. So far after many updates we’ve discovered that it is only WOW that’s broken.

How do I report this issue to NVIDIA? I’m not sure if they’re even aware there’s a problem.

Issue still remains here for me as well.

Mainly happens when opening the transmog menu while within Dornogal, everything freezes up, then all textures very slowly reloads.

Rarely happens out in the world and in content for me. But has happen in a battleground once while riding towards something.

Since last maintenance the problems have only gotten marginally worse.

Today I don’t even need to relog out of a fresh instance of the game to trigger texture corruption. Black textures are now guaranteed to show up on one of the four characters of my warband screen the first time I enter the game… if the game even manages to boot up after 10 unsuccessful attempts over a period of 15 minutes.

One of the longest running jokes yet, four months without as much as a word from tech support.
