Same thing here, and two other friends.
I checked my event viewer and i can confirm i have the same error in the event viewer. nvlddmkm 153.
Same stuff happening to me, game freezes and screen goes black( not always ) resets gpu driver and gpu tweaks are set to default
Ive tried every fix and workaround i could find , turned off bunch of stuff in settings, DX11, turned off overlays and hardware accelerations, memory integrity and whatnot . Still happening, and its so random i cant reproduce it and test what helps or not.
This is happening on AMD card , my 2 other friends do have pretty much same pc as me ( exact same cpu, exact ram , same gpu model just different manufacturer ) and it seems im only one suffering from this
Luckily been in the same boat all this time, UNTIL Kareshā¦
Now my first load into the new zone, game drops to desktop and i have to Alt+Tab it back to the game
Only seems to happen the first time I load the new zone in a playsession, but still very annoying
I switched to dx 11, and the error went away. Iām on the 4th day since the change. What that means:
Not a hardware problem (so pls MVPs donāt gaslight people)
Not OS-wide driver corruption (as I get this specific error log only in WoW)
This is 100% Game + driver API interaction issue which needs to be addressed and fixed by Blizzard.
Yea itās not. Iāve fixed my crashes but before MVPS were like āyOuR CpU iS fAulTyā and most of the times is not a end-user problem. /Sigh
Out of interest I tried using appearances, from collections not a transmog NPC, in Kāaresh and it was fine.
Great I thought letās try it in Dornogal which turned out to be a very bad idea.
The graphics constantly crashed, the game froze and the PC effectively stopped responding even after I exited from WoW.
Iām guessing opening appearances in Kāaresh loaded a lot of models which caused a problem when I went back to Dornogal.
I had to restart the PC to clear the issues.
Pre-orders for Midnight just went live on Battle.net but thereās no way Iāll be buying it if they donāt sort this problem.
These settings worked on most the the computers of my guildies:
Use UI Scale : OFF
Vertical Sync: Enabled
Anti-Aliasing: OFF
Shadow Quality: Low
Liquid detail: Fair
Particle Densitiy: Ultra
SSAO: Disabled
Depths Effects: Disabled
Compute Effect: Disabled
Outline Mode: Good
Texture Resolution: High
Spell Density: Essential
Projected Texture: Enabled
View Distance - Encironment Detail - Ground Clutter: 2-4 (Choos whatever u like)
Triple Buffer: OFF
Graphics API: set to dx11 if u have crash with dx12
Grapics Card: Pick your card, dont leave on auto
Max Foreground FPS: set your monitor refresh rate
Max Background FPS: 15-20
Target FPS: OFF
Contrast 70
Brightness 50
ā compatility settingsā
If u have still problem try to disable Async Resource Creation on the first.
** If you have Nvidia card, use Studio Driver instead of game ready **
So essentially you have narrowed it down some 20 different settings? ![]()
same problem, screen freezees, game audio goes away, then every asset rapidly reloads 1 by 1
for me, only happens in the new raid after the 4th boss and ara-kara
dx12 - quality preset at 8(tried to lower it to 3-4 but doesnt help),
no ray tracing, anti-aliasing multi sample 2x
5600x
32gb
3080ti
also the new eco-dome dungeon has a lot of texture problems and missing asssets but that never causes any sort of lag/freeze or asset reload, it just looks unloaded for the entire key
ps: will swap to dx11 and see if itās better ![]()
ps2: so far dx11 seems to fix the issue but the performance is a bit worse
Came to check whether similar problems occured to anyone else, and OPās description (first post) applies to my crashes perfectly. All 3D elements dissapear, screen goes blue-ish with some interface leftovers, then everything loads back one by one. Happens in Dornogal, when opening transmog/toys tab and sometimes without any obvious reason (priest class mount may or may not be causing some crashes, not sure).
Wasnāt playing during 11.1.7 release, came back a couple of weeks ago, crashes started happening after 11.2 release (I think). Iāll try to switch to dx11 as suggested (thanks for advice everyone), but yeah, fix this stuff, please.
New Nvidia driver came out yesterday, Iāll test it out and report back in a few days, hopefully no more nvlddmkm error logs in dx12
For me, whenever I open up the transmogify vendor which loads up tons of appearance textures, the game freezes for a few seconds and it appears to reload a bunch of textures, not just from the transmog appearances but also the world around me. Sometimes I also briefly see green textures.
The WoW client doesnāt fully crash, but it reinitializes somehow. Whenever it does this, the guild message of the day is also output again in chat for some reason.
For the record, something similar already started happening to me before the 11.2.0 patch, with a slightly older Nvidia driver, but less severely. This started a few months ago. The transmogify vendor would be kind of slow at loading appearances and sometimes not load anything for a page, only showing black boxes. Scrolling back and forth between pages would then load the appearances correctly. But it wasnāt so bad that it would completely freeze the client for several seconds and do a full texture reload.
I just switched down to DX11 in game and for now it seems stable. I can open appearances in Dornogal without problems, I ticked uncollected so loaded everything, and did some world quests in Azj-Kahet with no freezing.
I havenāt changed anything else in my settings other than downloading the latest Nvidia driver.
Time will tell if this has sorted it out for me for now.
NB. DX12 with the Nvidia driver still has problems
It has been doing this for a long time. Ever since the latest big windows update at least.
I have the same issue when opening the appearance tab and sometimes when the game starts to load a cutscene. It can happen in many circumstances.
I updated the NVidia driver from yesterday and nothing changed. Still a problem⦠Seems like Iāll have no choice but to switch to DirectX11. Itās very annoying because it greatly reduces my FPSā¦
Blizzard really needs to adress this !!
Uninstall it, the latest windows update is causing some SSDs/HDDs to basically corrupt its data or even brick itself from large write sequences. It was discovered just a few days ago, and then the news spread.
Uninstall the preview version of the next as well, if youāve got that installed too.
Make sure you test your drive(s) afterwards.
At this point Iām pretty sure itās a shader issue. I cleared all my shadercache (DXCache, ComputeCache and D3DSCache) , from Nvidia and Windows in appdata. Also deleted my wow cache folder, so far no driver crashes for 3 days on dx12.
Even if this doesnāt fix the problem entirely, we should definitely get this resolved in the upcoming Nvidia driver releases
Iāve been running on dx11 as the only change for nearly a week with none of these issues.
If I switch back to dx12 the problems come back so while not ideal it does help for now.
Current client version 11.2.0.62801
