The loot system for raids is terrible, and could do with a rework

I don’t know if they have something like this already, but the book/token system from [The other MMO that shall not be named]'s raids might be a decent enough solution.

Simply put:
If you’d kill the last boss of a wing you’ll get a token, which can only be obtained once per week. Then at a special vendor you can trade x amount of tokens (maybe dependent on gear: 2 for rings, necklace, wrist, etc; 3 for gloves, feet, shoulders, etc. and 4 for body, legs & weapons, etc.) for a piece of gear of your own choice from said wing. (This would be LFR specific, but could be adapted for the other difficulties as well)

This would prevent a bad luck streak and you’ll eventually get the loot you want/need. But maybe with the amount of gear that we have to collect it may not be a viable option to get everything. Still, it would in essence be a pity-token so it might alleviate some grievances.

think xiv has that system for whenever 8 man normal raid is current content
for legs and chest you need 4 tokens each
gloves boots and helmet are 2 token accessory you need 1
(but there you have 1 earring 1 neck 1 wrist and 1 ring and cant equip 2 of the same raid token ring because of the “unique equipped” tag)

even better just make each boss drop the entire tier set + BiS weapon, trinkets, rings and a neck and have a chance to drop a random legendary item from any previous (or current) expansion because people can’t survive 1 minute without their dopamine hit
BONUS POINTS make the items dropped BiS enchanted as well and fully BiS gemmed, too!!!

Inbefore pro group looters tell us, why is it good that one people get 5 loot, while others get zero.

Group loot in LFR feels especially bad as all the people who do real job there should either lie for ninjaloot or click “transmog” without any hope to get anything (outside of low level set pieces which is still a fair upgrade for raider).

The personal loot system, when, basically everybody needs on everything feels better in LFR scenarios as it does not create an unneeded temptation to lie. And if organized group is there and they want DKP/councilloot or watever, I believe it’s still possible to give an item for anybody eligible to get it once looted.

The great vault already fills that “At least i got something for my time” gap, though.

That’s true, but that’s from their normal (lfr) difficulty raids. The difference there is though, that you’re entitled a drop. If it didn’t drop for you the first time, you can try again until you get one of those tokens. The system I am referring to is from their Savage-difficulty raids, which does have a once per week lockout, but as a pity-system one of those books will also drop per week, so no matter what you’ll always get your loot eventually. :slightly_smiling_face:

Can you link the post where Blizzard say…we listened to the players?

Blizzard removed the personal loot because people were geared at a faster rate that they wanted consuming faster the content .

oh yeah i understand what you mean

So all this is u just crying because u didn’t get loot holy moly man go ride the GDKP stick then in classic

I really miss Personal Loot.

Like REALLY miss it.

People are rolling on items they don’t need and guilds are doing the Masterloot/Loot Council bull that means the trials are unpaid interns for a month.

definitely leaves a sour taste in my mouth when i see 1 person win more than 1 item on a single boss, and it’s even worse when that person is an obvious AFK player, using only auto attacks and an occasional dot attack, and people dont wanna votekick…

It’s extremely frustrating spending so much time in a raid only to get heck all.

They did not say that.

What happened was 10000 post on the forums about the subject and a ton of streamers complaining.

And then curiously they changed it.

Why change to GL then ? Just lower the probability from 2 items per raid to 1.

thats situation with yes and no thing because if great vault provide that then why u need loot at all ? why not wait for great vault then ? Tomato - Tomato

Feelbad moment of LFR loot is not that you sometimes get nothing. It happens, it’s not fun to get all the gear in one go. The problem is that it creates unhealthy scenarios, which provokes you to lie and need loot you don’t need (for an alt if it is warband bound, to give to a friend who is in the same group, to sell for gold if anything else). Consequences are minimal as you see this pug the first and the last time in your life (and most likely nobody will check if you need it). Personal loot, even when sometimes you get nothing is way healthier in LFG/LFR.

A while a go now, I forget when,

There was a time when loot was personal, unless it was a guild group, in which case the leader could choose a different loot system.

Why was this changed?

because personal loot doesnt mean that you will get much or anything usefull

people were getting mainly gold just like they do now - but then they could blame bizz for it - not lizz dont care you can blame other players for pressing need and you loosing roll

just to be more clear, as I think I’m not being clear enough, I dont care about getting something I actually want/need, I just want to actually get something, even if it does end up being something I’ve already got, cos I can sell that, and get gold. it’s better than getting nothing, while watching the same 3 people win everything

Nope, now people can get two items from boss

It’s not just raids. I did an old DF dungeon I’ve not seen before (so that loot doesn’t even matter anymore) and from 8 bosses (full dungeon) I got 0 items. I could hardly believe it. And it was not a follower dungeon.
