Surely i can’t be the only one who thinks that the WoW lore is getting more and more ridiculous for every expansion since Cataclysm? I think it’s a real mess now, and it appears that it’s just getting worse with Shadowlands.
This is very unfortunate because the lore is important for many players.
Yeah, that happens with Spinoff Titles.
You have to remember, WoW ended in WotLK. The story was over when we killed Arthas.
Everything after that is just people throwing everything at a wall and see what sticks, mostly ignoring everything in the next expansion.
People keep saying that… yet Arthas was not the only story of Warcraft.
Well, we had the Orc VS Human war and with WC3, we started to have the Legion.
The other Storylines were Thralls creation of the Horde, Arthas journey to become a Lich King, Illidan finding a home in Outlands and the Death of Archimond.
All but the Lich King Story arch were finished by the end of WoW TFT. The Horde was created, Archimond was dead, Illidan killed the demons in the Black Temple and made it his home and Horde and Alliance had found common ground, while not being totaly at peace.
The only Story that still needed to be continued was the Lich King Story Line and that one ended with WotLK.
After that it was mostly just taking big names from the Lore and making “What if they came back” or “What if they turned evil” Storylines.
I kinda like it. But honeatly what do you expect with 8th expansion? Do you want strong story? Play single player games, not 15yo mmorpg with multiple expansions 
even the best writer in the world can’t make a story 100% logical throught 15 years of development. And definitely can’t make a story which all players like. Different people - different tastes.
They have to think of something if they want wow to keep going
I don’t blame them, even if I don’t personally like all of it.
They had a very long back catalog of books to work through which had well recognized lore. That lore ran out at the end of Legion. Leading to having to create a lot of lore from scratch.
That is a hard job, good lore takes years to brew and refine. Blizzard doesn’t have the luxury of putting WoW on stasis for years.
So yes, I dislike some of the current lore but I know it could be a lot worse in general.
It seems like what new lore they have made - they are hiding too much of it from the actual game leaving people with “What the???” reactions when something is suddenly shown in game.
If by more ridiculous you mean that its no longer a cheap warhammer x d&d imitation, then sure, I guess.
You’d think there were a lot more trolls or troll themed in the shadow lands seeing how easily it is for them to deal with souls.
It truly is bad. It feels like one of those shows that just goes for waaaay too long so the story becomes just a tool for fan favorite actors to do stuff.
I get that that they have to expand the lore but each expansion they are doing so in the most bombastic way ever for marketing purposes.
I like the story but to each their own 
Well, now we have a joyful creativity for the needs of new expansion
The history in W3 Reforged will probably change a little bit to match the story in WoW.
PS. Because she works with the Jailer, i.e. Blizzard Entertainment. Jailer = Blizzard Entertainment = new xpac. Confirmed…and we didn’t even know it.
I think Legion was the real lore ending that matched up.
I think the story is really awesome and well thought out. If you don’t like it, you can always leave it.
A story without continuity is like a sentence without grammar, made of words without a meaning.
Considering the blood troll massacre that is happening right now for the transmog set I expect to see a lot of blood trolls in the Shadowlands. 
The next expansion after Shadowlands will be An Orc Warrior in New York or a Gilnean Worgen in London.
Yes! Or better, an expansion where Daenerys Targaryen healed by one of her drakes fight and win a war against Sylvanas, would be glorious! 
Wow’s story has and is starting to remind me of Supernatural we are just in for a ride best to let it just happen eat some popcorn and treat it like a b movie.
I still enjoy it but i really would like some more grounded stories and less of my character being a bastard child of super saiyan and warhammer 40k emperor.
