The Mage Tower - Legion TW experience compendium

Hey guys, since tomorrow we’ll probably be bombed by MT threads, lets try and post our experiences in one place, all of our successes or fails, gloats and grievances.

For example:
Retribution - Sigryn challenge - Killed it in 71 tries, was harder than Fatescribe mythic… never doing it again. :joy:
Outlaw - Agatha challenge - Have 20 tries so far, best try 27%, i’ll kill it soon™!

Feel free to post screenshots of your kills!

And tell us if your itemization was special, maybe someone will be helped by your out of the box thinking or any tricks/advises you have to share!

So I’m basically destroying Ancestral Knowledge - Spell - World of Warcraft (wowhead.com)

but he still does not interrupt that. FUN.

Completed it a few minutes ago. xD
I think it was somewhere around 40 tries.

Special gear used, was my speed set… except my weapon it was my normal one since the Rivendare Runeblade is lower lvl.
459 dps overall.

I’ll upload the video and write some tips in a few minutes.

Just completed Agatha as ele shaman. Felt quite easy but punishing at the same time. Got it down maybe after 20-30 tries judging by the amount of food I used, but no idea of the exact number. Could be more too. I feel like it’s one of the easier ones tbh.

I might do resto shaman one as well.

Here is the video for Retribution - Sigryn Challenge
P.S. Low Definition atm as High Def is still being processed by Youtube…

Tips:

  • If you have speed gear, use it! Getting to runes, kiting, evading valkirs and getting back to the bosses to dps them is key!
  • Save Wake of Ashes to break the shield, i’ve had numerous fails due to not having enough dps for it, but after saving Wake i 95% of the time got it down in time.
  • Always keep an eye out for Sigryn’s enrage mechanic, stun her to stop the cast, repentance works too, but i’ve found keeping her in repentance and just dpsing the others will make me hit enrage at 6 min 30 seconds or so… not good!
  • Talents preferred by me were: Righteous Verdict (important for destroying the shield in time), Blade of Wrath (better than Empyrean as prioritizing crusader strike is not indicated here) the extra Holy Power is good to have for healing, Repentance for Sigryn when needed, Cavalier good to have as movement is very important and can save you in lots of cases, Seraphim to time burst and have enough dps for the whole fight, Healing Hands - best self-healing in this case, Final Reckoning for all the bursty needs you have!
  • I had the Checkered Flag from Darkmoon Faire for extra mount speed… just in case!
  • Be very very careful that you sit where needed when the Valkyrs charge, as i’ve found that sometimes they also clip you with their wings, even though you may appear safe…
  • Focus first on learning and expecting mechanics, as DBM isn’t always accurate, first 20 something tries i didn’t have DBM for Legion Mage Tower as i didn’t play in Legion. DBM is good, but it’s preferred that you yourself know when to expect the mechanics to come.

I just can’t do the healing one… I keep failing at the part where I have to heal 8 spirits and I… just fail every time. I feel so deflated because I have to do all the crap from before again prolly 10 times.

Fury warriors with Garrosh heirlooms + crusader enchant are face rolling Agatha.

Goes to show how much effort Blizzard put into this MT iteration.

I used heirloom trinkets on agatha this time around as an outlaw rogue since your healing is too RNG so i used the heal trinket which gives you a % of hp per mob kill and i used the wod heirloom trinket which gives you basically a big absorb vs demons and just wittled it down and just used generic rogue pve talents which kept the game play feeling alive without being abruptly energy starved

Defeated the Twins Challenge an hour ago as Shadow Priest. xD
100+ tries… i didn’t know how to play SP as it was just an alt used for farming old raids.

As for gear used, had 122.3% speed or so due to boots enchant 10%, 5% gem, 3% gem and 1-2 speed procc on gear.
Current talent setup.

  • SP video and tips

Do this:
a) get boots enchant (ilvl 50 or lower boots) 10%, 5% gem, 3% gem and 1-2 speed procc on gear, mandatory talent is the speed on shield one.
b) focus on 1. Runes, 2. Hands (cicle interrupt, defensive, interrupt if you’re not getting them down before they nuke you), the running man.
c) Kite Karam on the back like in the video, so you’ll get less void zones on the ground, you want to keep the entrance side as clear as possible to get to runes safely after.
d) Focus Raest only in the 2nd phase, pop cd’s here but not BL and pot, do not pop cd’s in 3rd or 4th phase, save for 5th where you pop everything for Karam, prio runes and hands while you do this. (hands despawn after Karam dies, so if you know you can get him b4 a hand nukes you, go for it)
e) Once Karam is down, step out of Raest’s range and only come back to dot him up and stomp a rune, there is no enrage so plot a course and get there, save the bombs for any pack near the rune, the cd’s align with the rune perfectly.
f) Take it easy once only Raest is alive, do not rush, there is no enrage here (P.S. Do not click the portal near the entrance! did it by accident once…)

Talents used:
15 - Fortress of Mind
25 - Body and Soul - pretty mandatory… speed is key!
30 - Twist of Fate
35 - Mind Bomb - aligns with runes, so you can safely stay there if the adds are on top of it
40 - Auspicious Spirits
45 - Void Torrent - very helpful in taking down hands fast
50 - Hungering void

To add my tips for the spriest challenge, the silence reduction worked better for me as I did not have to to trade defensives for the hands. I went for the cheese tactic and the hardest part was getting to the 5th phase. Once there, I killed it first try. I needed about 20 smth runs to get there. I did get some pretty good rune placements, but even if you don’t get as lucky, the one minute CD on fear combined with dispersion should be enough to soak every rune. I also used a toon that just hit level 60, so I still had some good low lvl gear and filled the gaps with the legion class order set. Had 2x haste gems and all the sl enchants available. For consumables I didn’t bother spending too much gold, used a flask and a shadowcore oil, also had drums but forget to use it

That’s the easiest one to do out of all of them and you don’t even need gear. Just put crusader on your weapons and you’re good to go.

I remember that every paladin challenge made me swear a lot back in legion

What silence reduction? Cd reduction? There is one?

Yes, last word or something, I just leveled my priest, so I don’t know the talents from the top of my head. It reduces the cd on silence by 15 s I believe. It helped me more than mine bomb / stun

Must have been blind… i swear i read all of the talent descriptions to devise strategies. lol

Just as Garrosh wanted to paint Pandaria red,

I want for people to paint this forum in anger, misery and pain.

So let the threads roll.

AND PAINT THIS CONTINENT RED

That’s all very interesting but… who asked?

Pretty much sums up the last week doesnt it?

Haha, guess it doesn’t matter now
