The moonwells and their uses

So I’m curious but with moonwells do you need a priestess or druid to be there to use the moonwell or can any Kaldorei use it? And how does the blessing work as a whole?

Not exactly a blessing, though I’m sure they can be used for specific rituals. If you mean the healing effect, its just by proximity (they’re made to heal the land and cleanse it), or by applying the water to the wound --> healing properties. Elegy mentions bathing as the most effective way.

The process of creating a moonwell is a pretty long and complicated one, though.

Since the waters are sacred, I doubt anyone can take from it, though. The sentinels for example seem kind of protective of them in some quests (and it also makes logical sense, considering they originate from the Well of Eternity & has a connection to Elune).

It’s kinda vague, but they’re said to have restorative properties through their waters and stuff.

I imagine anyone can use them, but it’s more useful to priestesses and druids.

There is that moonwell in Desolace guarded by stormwind guards if I am not mistaken?

Not all Moonwells are created from the Second Well of Eternity, though.

The Moonwell on Draenor is created differently, same goes for the Moonwell in Suramar(with the Night Elf refugee’s from Val’sharah). Both Wells are created vastly different from the way Moonwells are normally created, but still hold the same power and properties!

And what exactly is it that makes you believe they are created differently? Considering the questline in Suramar depicts the entire process from start to finish, including using the waters from another moonwell as the basis.

Extra bit: They also vary in power.

Regarding the one in Shadowmoon we only know of the last step in the entire process (adding the lunar rock completes the dedication of the well), which seems special, but not that the previous steps are done vastly different from others as you say, unless I overlooked something.(https://wow.gamepedia.com/Shadowmoonwell)

According to what I’ve learned from Duskwood RP, they are perfect for pool parties and act as nice jaccuzzis that everyone is allowed to bathe into.

Everyone… yeah right
Alliance bias!

Nah, Moonwells aren’t something you need a special ability to tap, they just work

The known certainties are that they restore mana, can purify corrupted cloth and are generally a big font of “get better”. you don’t need to bathe in them either, just being around them will make… pretty much anyone of an elven heritage feel more energised. but if say for example, your heavily wounded, getting dunked will help recover from that.

Id recommend going though the nelf starting zone and reading the Crown of the Earth quests, gives a little history.

RP Wise, it can vary depending on where you go. Void, Fel and Undeath near a well can be frowned upon, and its theorised that those embued with such power could be harmed by the presence of the well, so its sometimes advised for them to ensure a bit of distance. while in Duskwood however, its treated with more aggressive protection, but I was only there for a few days so, as to why that happens I’ve no idea.

Just to add, they have general restorative properties be it healing of wounds, fatigue or healing of spirit. In “Before the Storm” book (I think it was there) the surviving dwarves from Silithus were offered healing by bathing in the Moonwell in Darnassus.

I would note, I wouldn’t trust anything said near Duskwood’s Moonwell. That being said. I do believe Suramar’s moonwell is made from waters from another moonwell.

Spot on

Once that is done, Mayruna will add a little water from a purified Moonwell and this land will be protected so long as we inhabit it.

All Moonwells are bound in some way to Hyjal, the source of all Moonwells

Moon wells are hallowed repositories of the sacred waters of the Well of Eternity, the pool of energy that gives life to the mystical World Tree. When additional water is added, these wells nourish the night elf troops with their life-sustaining waters. Additional moon wells become necessary as the night elf forces grow in number.[1] The first step to establishing a moonwell is to gain the blessings of the local wildlife. It is their goodwill that enables night elves to peacefully coexist, and a moonwell thrives on such energies. After receiving the blessings they are combined into a ritual bundle and imbue the moonwell, followed by water added from a preexisting purified moonwell. Combined with Elune’s light, a moonwell can purify its surroundings for years

Are the moonwells owned by the cenarion circle?

It’s everything I imagined and more. Cheers!

lol no, Moonwells are made by Kaldorei, primarily to aid Kaldorei. anything it gives to anyone else is just a net gain.
