Isn’t all of this pretty good roleplay generating situations though?
I always try to treat weird-out-of-lore situations in character as long as they fit and are actually serious roleplay.
I treated the druids in the Duskwood Grove always as a bunch of outsider druids who take the rules of being a druid a bit more to the extreme.
Sounds perfectly logical to me that they would try to protect the Moonwell with the history that Duskwood has. Even going as far as saying “Only X people can access it”. Like a paranoid bunch of druids who don’t wanna follow the stereotypical rules. The zandalari cenarion is… odd but I would treat it as a “well, she can pretend but really isn’t”. Just to not have too much of an immersion break for myself. So pretty much a bunch of outsider druids who pretend to be Cenarion and establish their own rules and such. Just a general idea since I am not part of agreeing or disagreeing with either side.
The Horde thing plays into this as well.
Though I assume there is only so much one person can take in regards of that before it becomes silly.
Calling Duskwood the “heart of Alliance territory” is a bit of a stretch, lets be fair here. It’s notoriously abandoned by the Alliance as a whole and essentially no presence outside of a small camp in the west and Darkshire in the east. What little militia patrols are also, presumably, far less often these days than pre-Legion after the majority of Darkshire and the Night Watch (including the leadership) either got killed or turned evil and then got killed.
Like this isn’t Razor Hill or Kharanos “heart of the territory” sorta deal.
I think with both of these posts, and all the stuff that is part of it that I didnt quiote, it’s still very situational to how it’s done.
I think what most people take/took issue with, and the most noteworthy examples I can think off with this that i consider to be “bad” is situation like we had in the past, when in the midst of the 4th war for example, fully fledged members of the Horde(& in some cases also showcasing full loyalty to it) that weren’t even cenarion druids, but just regular Horde soldiers or characters “hanging out” in the middle of the grove.
And Alliance guilds who found out about them and went there IC to get rid of them(which makes perfect sense, cus while it is a fairly weak-border zone, it is still technically in terms of the lore an Alliance foothold/region, and having Horde groups located in close proximity to the borders and near the capitol, does warrant investigation). However they were stopped by druids claiming to be high-ranked cenarion individuals who had given full pardon/permission to these non-cenarion, Horde-aligned people to be there IC, and thus the Alliance had neither rights or juristiction to enter or something.
This was actually something that has happened a couple of diffrent times, in various ways of ridicolousness, but there was a rather hefty discussion on this particular thing a couple of months ago.
And it’s this kind of situation I was more aiming at that I considered…well iffy. In peace time, and if it’s a group that is very obviously not a threat/or even neutral or druid aligned, I see no issue with it.
I don’t have anything important to say other than the fact that: moonwells can become fel corrupted, I can think of at least two examples in-game, and while I’m not positive of -how- it happened i’m very happy to avoid normal moonwells and rub my nasty demon hands all over those ones
I’ve been a frequenter of Duskwood for half a year now and I’ve seen the drama from within, acting more as an observer since I’m clearly very opposite of Night Elf Society principles. (As a follower of the Betrayer)
The Duskwood Moonwell is held on guard because of the daily villain that comes in “hehe, time to corrupt it” which reflects into RP long-term. Lore is a good a basis, but if it was held fully with lore sources and no questions asked, like 60% of AD wouldn’t work and die out because of headcanon or the constant arguments.
A Great Tree protecting the lower half of Eastern Kingdoms from being decimated by Saronite and a Moonwell slowly healing and helping the flora and fauna of Duskwood is quite an important asset to keep in “the heart of the Alliance”. The canon that Stormwind can’t provide aid to Duskwood is Kobe’d out of the atmosphere by roleplayers because they want authority, and not all can force themselves solely into one zone and not being able to go back to Stormwind where you got friends to talk about it is limiting. If only we would have lore-friendly travelling.
Night Elven priestesses can’t observe the Moonwell for long periods of time because the closest place to have safe refuge is Stormwind.
Druids have ease of access with the Emerald Dream who can provide quick aid in time of threat.
Does the well need to be protected in lore? Of course not, we had only 1 zone that shown active bad things happen to them. Does it need protection RP? If there’s history of tampering, why wouldnt you?
