The nerf to the Tier-Set is completely unjustifiable

Feral

  • Sickle of the Lion Entering Berserk causes you to strike all nearby enemies, dealing (700% of Attack power) Bleed damage over 10 sec. Deals reduced damage beyond 8 targets.

    • Effect #1 Apply Aura: Proc Trigger Spell Modifies Damage/Healing Done
      Value: 08Item Set: Tapestry of the Fixed Stars: 4 pieces

This is the current change and it is 100% unjustified.
I already posted & commented a bunch on multiple forum-pages about how bugged the current set is.

For anyone that is unaware let me sum it up rq.

  • TF buffs 4pc 3 times:
  1. Once ~21% multiplier (with conduit) that buffs via snapshot
  2. Once ~21% multiplier (with conduit) that buffs dynamically
  3. Once 15% multiplier (without conduit) that buffs dynamically

On top of that it also snapshot’s Mastery which is currently getting abused with old WQ-Bell’s that get iLvL upscaled and still have the 9s duration & high amount of Mastery on PTR + NF Niya Mastery buff means they snapshot with monster amounts of said Mastery which is NOT intended.
The set also snapshot’s Necrolord-swarm’s dot-amp which is completely unintended too.

All these bugs have been reported as soon as the PTR went live a gigantic time ago & have been commented & mentioned a ton of times after that.
But instead of fixing this broken piece of garbage & then actually tune it into a balanced state, they are

  • A: Somehow still unaware that these bugs exist

or

  • B: Too lazy to fix the core problems with the set ( and Feral in general as spells like FF & Swarm still aren’t fixed just like LI didn’t work with Draught for months KEKW)

So for the love of god, employ more people, fix the spec / spells / set first before you even think about tuning anything as you haven’t done anything anyways, just rework the set instead of giving us Frenzyband 2.0 which is the most boring Tier-Set in the world, not to even mention that eventho this is stacking multipliers like crazy, still isn’t even close to competitive with the other specs / classes on PTR lmao.

Feral has been a joke in PvE for an absurd amount of time now, just please actually invest some resources damn.

The people in the Class-Discord’s, Forums and other communities basically did all the work already, just give them a chance as you guys seem to be not interested in this spec at all.

il post your thread in my "Feral Feedback " thread aswell , this is just stupid nerfing already a bad spec , and then you have people like “yeah but then people would be stackng ferals” or saying feral would be too OP … who ever is incharge with balancing classes needs to get fired

Exactly, if you look at the sims or literally any competent Feral player on PTR and compare the overalls etc, Feral is magnitudes away from even being viable right now.

And instead of fixing their buggy sad mess of a boring Frenzyband 2.0 set that more than double the damage of sickle, they have the audacity to touch the targetcap?!

Meanwhile frostmage, boomy etc are a thing…

And then you have absolutely uninformed ds like Psybear who go on stream and talk about how Feral is so fantastic while he gets outdps’d by a tank, like what is this timeline?!

I agree that it is silly to nerf the set instead of fixing it. However, many Ferals like me who are not doing MDI-style pulls, will probably be better off with a set that does more damage for 1-8 targets because of bugs and then drops off then with a set that does the unbugged damage to all targets… but still a ridiculous situation.

That was not the impression I got from the discussion in the Dreamgrove discord. It was more a combination of dismay and disbelief. But I only check in there infrequently, so…

Some people like Guiltyas are extremely high on copium but that’s about it.
They say Feral is viable as long as they can login, and don’t care about cov viability at all.

By the way, in the US forum someone wrote that they also removed the Mastery scaling of the set bonus? That would be completely bizare and, if true, I hope just another bug. Since they are neither keen on bug fixing nor communicating, it is hard to say what is a bug and what is intended.

Removing mastery scaling would seem to be a much more drastic nerf to the set than the diminishing returns beyond 8 targets.

I think what he means is that it doesn’t scale dynamically.
As in, if you Zerk then Convoke, the Mastery you gain from voke wont impact your sickle damage at all, which he thinks means that it doesn’t scale.
But it does, it just snapshots at the start, which makes for extremely dumb gameplay of having to convoke then Zerk for it to use the extra mastery.

Eventho it was obviously intended to get CDR reduced by voke, get the mastery from voke and also the % dmg amp during convoke, which is still missing.

Well I was being a bit sarcastic but my (short) experience there was that some people are really really against any change to Feral because somehow that means going away from the roots and making it a “simpler” spec. They are ok with Feral being trash for entire xpacs in many contents as long as they can keep snapshotting because that is somehow complex.
The other problem is they are kinda toxic and its very hard to have any discussion there… and at least so far many WoW developers seemed to only listen to those people which is why we have Feral being Z-tier in M+ since its creation…

But that isn’t even the case.
Snapshot’s besides RIP don’t really matter that much if you compare the dmg-distribution of bites/convoke etc.

And I am okay with there being “easy” talents for beginners or people that don’t like dot-snapshots etc, as is why the current/entire Feral existence was being a convoke/bite-bot, while the way more difficult to pilot necro-feral was magnitudes away from being worth the effort, even in sims especially on PTR now as the necro-legendary has basically no impact ST, while they play Draught & don’t even remind me of the giga bait that is Circle’s interaction with Swarm.

No mot really as they are one big part of the current problems as the decs listened to them for a long time which in turn turned away many people from playing Feral giving it the bad reputation it has now.

I disagree a lot with some of the bigger Ferals of the community but they haven’t really listened to them at all tho.

Are you lot even talking about the same discord where I’ve just spent the best part of an hour looking at pictures of cats? Seriously, if you think Dreamgrove is toxic, you should try hanging out for 30 seconds at Fel Hammer. You’d soon realise what a cute and cuddly place Dreamgrove is.

As for the nerf, I honestly can’t see it making a huge difference at the level I play, so I’m not going to get worked up about it. I can count the places where we tend to do pulls above 8 mobs on the fingers of one hand, and feral is still strong in ST. This is not to say that I think the nerf is justified, simply that I’m not going to stress myself out over it.

The target cap is not the big issue for people like me and you. It is laughable for the reasons mentioned above but, for many, not impactful. The true travesty is the removal of scaling with mastery. This will impact average Joes like us. And thanks to their inability to communicate, we have no idea if it is intentional.

Oh and the nerfed Kyrian legendary is just the cherry on the top of the s*** cake we have been served.

Feral is strong in single target if there’s only one target. As soon as you get adds, your dps falls from ‘decent’ to ‘bad’. The problem is that in those cases where you actually pull more than 8 mobs, you go from decent (if you have Berserk available) to bad in addition to being mediocre everywhere else.

My guess would be that it’s a failed attempt to try to fix the triple-dipping and get it to work with mastery in the same way as all our other bleeds, and they’re working on it. I’m not going to stress over that either unless we get close to going live and it still isn’t sorted.

That’s most likely to stop druids going Kyrian to get a raid spot purely for their ability to provide a dps boost to another class, which is something that’s been talked about on the discord. (I notice the biggest nerf is to the other player’s bonus.) I’ve never even looked at Kyrian for my druid, so I can’t comment further than that.

Well, yeah. ‘Only one target’ is right there in the definition of ‘single target’.

That’s wrong. Single target dps is the fraction of my dps that was done towards a single target. It doesn’t restrict the availability of targets at all as long as there’s at least one.
