and how does boosting effect that
i just told you that. youâd be lvl 58 instantly, so if you wanted to, you could run into my lvl 46 character and just gank me if you want.
For Blizzard itâs primarily one reason: Money. They said they didnt want to break any hearts with a boost in Classic in 2019 (when someone asked for it), yet theyâre going back on their promise now. I understand they have to make money, but i doesnât have to be done at the expense of the game (like from 2004-2008, also when WoW had growth in playerbase).
Because some people did want it so might as well add it
most of the people that boost will boost at the beginning of TBC so it would be rare for it to happen later on during the expansion
yeah but the fact that it can happen is the argument i am making. you asked how it impacts me, and i responded with a post explaining exactly how.
without a level boost this wouldnât be possible, unless someone who leveled from 1-60 legitimately found me and decided to gank me.
so there.
Democratic design (designing the game around what the playerbase wants) is bad because the players are not game designers and do not always know themselves why they like the game (âthey think they do, but they donâtâ) nor see possible negative implications of changes.
Dungeon Finder is an example. Most people were happy for it when it first released, but after some time many people understood it had negative effects and therefore would not want to see it in Classic.
but why remove this feature just so YOU dont need to be ganked
yeah but this feature can only be used when they spend their own money
And? In some cases it makes it even worse. Now a rich person can boost up one character of each class, while a poor person is forced to level in a world more dead than if the boost hadnât been there. It plays off of real life wealth disparaty, which is awful and terrible for an old school MMORPG where it didnât matter who you were in real life. That was what was so appealing with WoW in the first place; no matter who you were in real life you could be wildly successful in-game as long as you put in the time.
but the thing is you can only boost once so the rich person canât boost each class
Come on; think a bit further. A rich person can easily run nine subscribtions. Multi-boxers do this already. Itâll be worth it for profession alts; and maybe someone somehow can use the method to make gold to sell.
True but there isnât that much rich people that would actually do that
The best idea would be to have no boost servers and boost servers
Donât be so sure about that. Profession alts are very powerful, so for most people itâs a no-brainer to buy the boost just for that. And a few people doing something doesnât have a big impact on a lot of people? Again, look at multiboxers; theyâre not many, but they can still have a big impact. A few botters can also do significant damage.
Now this I can get behind.
i think we have come to conclusion and that if blizz implements this then everyone gets what they want
Absolutely not. Only if we can get servers where boosts are disabled. The boost makes the game worse for a big portion of the community, while it makes others happy. So it appeases one group at the expense of others. Instead they couldâve done nothing and let the players adapt to the game.
Thatâs literally what i meant i want servers where boosts are disabled and servers where boosts are enabled
A rich person can also already buy gold or fully leveled accounts from the black market if anything the boost will reduce the amount of account trading.
Boost wonât change that nothing stops a naxx geared rogue from ganking you indefinitely there are already a ton of players with geared level 60s going into to tbc that arguement can only be made if it was a fresh server where nobody was maxed someone purchasing the boost will be leveling as their starter gear will be terrible for PvP also PvP happened in a PvP server.
Ok, but give it a few weeks and that issue will exist with or without boosting.
